I think the defense already got her with the deposition, when she admitted in court today that she was in a hurry and just said anything in the deposition to get thru it.  West repeated it, and she agreed that she said anything.  Then she appeared very frustrated, and shortly later said she didn't want to come back tomorrow.

Dismissed: Alt juror off Zimmerman trial
updated 11:17 AM EDT, Wed June 26, 2013

A male alternate juror was dismissed Wednesday morning from the George Zimmerman trial for reasons unrelated to the case. This leaves three people in the alternate jury pool, two women and one other man. There are six main jurors hearing the case, all women.

. Here's what we know about Juror B72:
•He is white.
•He has been a resident of Seminole County for nine years.
•He is originally from Chicago.
•He is not married and has no children.
•He was a teacher and is now a maintenance technician for a private school.
•He is a competitive arm wrestler.

------------------
And from "The Jury" area for this case at SM:  http://scaredmonkeys.net/index.php?topic=14277.0

Quote

B-72: A young man who is possibly Hispanic, does maintenance at a school and competes in arm wrestling tournaments. He said he avoids the news because he does not want to be "brainwashed." He grew up in Chicago, is single and an alumni of Phi Beta Kappa. He is very physically active, and was a high school athlete. He said that he doesn't believe you can determine a person's strength based solely on their size or how they look.

Trayvon Martin case: Jury can hear five 911 calls from George Zimmerman
June 26, 2013

Sanford, Fla.
Lawyers prosecuting the Trayvon Martin shooting case will have an opportunity to sketch a portrait of defendant George Zimmerman, now that the trial judge has decided the jury can hear five of Mr. Zimmerman's nonemergency 911 calls to police. The calls could help shape jurors' impressions of Zimmerman, who is on trial in Florida for second-degree murder, as either a seething vigilante or a stand-up community organizer.

Zimmerman is on trial for shooting an unarmed black teenager named Trayvon Martin to death on the drizzly evening of Feb. 26, 2012. He had made at least 50 such calls to police over an eight-year span leading up to the shooting, to report things like slow-moving vehicles and loitering by strangers in his gated Retreat at Twin Lakes neighborhood here in Sanford, Fla. Circuit Court Judge Debra Nelson ruled Wednesday that prosecutors can play five of the calls in court.

Good morning everyone! My 6 month old is an early bird so I figured while I wait for my older child to wake up I'll post my thoughts on rachel/dee dee/jeantel.

i realize she's 19, but IMO she's a punk.  sorry.  but it's true.  i'm willing to bet she's far more racist than they are trying to make george out to be.  in fact, she prob uses the word "cracker" all the time.  i'm suprised she didn't call don west a "cracker."  i am shocked the judge didn't admonish her.  her disrespect was glaring and I'm sure didn't sit well with the jury.  she reminds me of some of the young clients i used to work with back in my social work days before i had kids.

she has clearly been traumatized by this, and i think taken advantage of by crump et al, but still, show some respect!  i can understand her not wanting to go to the viewing and i feel this will be a moot point with the jury.  i don't like viewings, they freak me out, epsecially those of someone my age or younger, I go for the closure purposes and to show respect for the family/deceased, but i know many who say they can't handle it.

i have a feeling the defense might move for a redirected verdict after the state is done it's case in chief, asking the judge to dismiss the case base on a lack of sufficient evidence.  I'm sure it will be denied, but I do think they will ask.

i'm interested to see who little miss jeantel will act today, but it's clear the defense is prolonging her questioning and are trying to get under her skin to show her bad attitude and disrespect to the jury, and i think it's working

on an unrelated note... Angela Corey is a farce.  It disgusts me seeing her in the front row. all i can think of is that ridiculous press conference she held to announce the second degree murder charges.

I was looking through tweets yesterday after searching twitter using #trayvonmartin and #georgezimmerman.  I noticed some were angry the defense was challenging Rachel's account of the night and some accused the defense of trying to punch holes in her testimony.  As if questioning was wrong.   That is actually their job.    And it's also the prosecution's job to do the same with witnesses.  As far as the use of "cracker" by Rachel, some tweets waived it away by saying it is "slanguage" (yes that's the word used) and not racist, with from what I've had explained to me is it's felt "cracker" isn't racist because white folks were never an oppressed race.  In my personal opinion, "cracker" is a racial slur and shouldn't be used any more than the n word or other words  including those that slur those of other heritage, including Italians, Asians etc.  Folks can say that's pc on my part, but how about it's just rude and prejudicial?

i agree, cracker is a racial slur.  my husband is a cop in a very bad part of our city and he is called "cracker" all the time at work by the citizens in the neighborhood, amongst other things I won't post here.

in college i took a race relations course and was one of the few white people in the class. i brought up a comment once that i thought there was some racism against whites from other races and got jumped on by everyone in that class who all said it's not racism because whites were never oppressed.  imo racism is racism anyway you slice it.

i wonder if the fact that trayvon called george a "cracker" offended any of the jurors seeing as they are all white except for the hispanic woman

DeeDee will eventually meet the person who will clean her clock. Cracker is most definitely a slur, and the kids call each other cracka, the same way they call each other *igga... First time I ever experienced what I call 'side eye' was here in Florida and it was from a client I was trying to assist.. Racism and bigotry are evident from both sides. DeeDee is a punkette,...but when she was recounting her call with TM the courtroom was hushed and she was believeable......despite the  jar of peanut butter stuck to the roof of her mouth and bad attitude

I prefer Redneck.

I grew up in Georgia and the term "Georgia cracker" was used commonly.  It was used by whites that I knew.

Yea, it is a slur.  I guess us southerners probably have more, or just as many, slur type words than other areas?  JMO

I  saw where Paula Deen had a recipe for "Georgia Cracker Salad".

I will leave it at that...

Her handlers need to remind her that she is in court and not on the Maury Povich show.
