ARUBA: It's all about Natalee...we won't give up!

That picture of MR standing behind the door creeps me out.  He has told on himself many times.  I sure hope LE has something on him.

That picture always creeped me out and now that I know where Dylan was, it's even worse.

They can't let him get away with this!

I keep hoping there was some physical evidence in the house.  Why was he moving furniture around?  But they didn't do the thorough search for 10 days.  So I'm worried about it to say the least.

UNM bone expert comments on Dylan Redwine investigation
Dr. Heather Edgar draws conclusions from similar cases
UPDATED 8:08 AM MDT Jul 03, 2013

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —Dr. Heather Edgar, curator of human osteology at Maxwell Museum of Anthropology, is not one of the investigators working on the Dylan Redwine case, but she has worked on a handful of cases that share similarities.

Mark Redwine, Dylan's father, told Action 7 News that investigators told him his son's fingertip was found alongside a coyote's droppings.

Edgar thinks it is very likely that wherever Dylan's remains were found was not the location where he was killed.

"Other cases that I have worked on that are similar to this go unresolved," Edgar said. "Unless you have whatever was the trauma that caused death affected the bones directly, investigation will be unable to determine the cause of death."

Edgar said a further search is probably necessary to uncover more information.

"I would search the area for clothing and all those kind of cultural materials, because it is unlikely that the biological evidence is going to provide a lot," she said.

K-9 team part of search for Dylan Redwine
Dogs from NM searched for Dylan Redwine in February and May
Published  9:28 AM MDT Jun 28, 2013

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —A local Albuquerque search group that volunteered in the search for Dylan Redwine spoke to Action 7 News Thursday after his remains were found and identified.

Rescue search volunteer Wendy Kessinger never gave up in the search for Redwine.

"During the winter we offered our services pro bono,” Kessinger said.

In February the founder of the New Mexico nonprofit K-9 Forensics traveled up to Colorado, volunteering her time and dogs to search for the missing teen

"(We) searched for 2 weeks. It was about 14 below,” she said.

In May, the dogs went back to Middle Mountain for another try. The group, which works with the FBI on missing persons cases nationwide, came very close to where Redwine's remains were eventually discovered.

Kessinger said the hardest part about the search in Colorado was the terrain was incredibly difficult - rocky and so vast.

"You're on cliffs, hillsides, hard ground, there was a lot, a lot of territory to cover," Kessigner said.

Search teams trekked through the rough terrain alongside Dylan's family and friends searching everywhere for any sign of the teen.

Why ever more fathers are killing their children: Top criminologist reveals her research into this sickening trend

By Elizabeth Yardley

PUBLISHED: 18:39 EST, 21 May 2013 | UPDATED: 12:27 EST, 22 May 2013

As a criminologist specialising in murder, I have just completed research into the phenomenon of parents killing their children.

And my discoveries left me wondering not how it could happen — but just how soon it would be before another case of parental murder would hit the headlines.

Perhaps the most terrifying thing I have learned from my research is that the incidence of parents murdering their children is becomingly increasingly common. There have been 71 cases since 1980 - and the numbers are speeding up alarmingly.

In the Eighties, fewer than one child a year was murdered by a parent. Over the past decade, numbers have risen to two or three a year - a rate that is increasing steadily.

Though mothers are also capable of murdering their children, the vast majority of murders - 59 of the 71 - are committed by men. I call them Family Annihilators because they cold-bloodedly plot their family's destruction.

And the reason why these apparently normal, loving men turn into ruthless killers? Family breakdown, which, of course, is also on the increase.

I examined all of the cases of murders by parents of their children since 1980, looking at everything from the fathers' jobs to the day of the week they committed the murder — and uncovered some quite extraordinary patterns.

In seven out of ten cases, the children have been at the centre of a bitter family break-up.

Of course, I wouldn't for a minute suggest that divorce inevitably leads to murder.

Far from it.

However, what's extremely worrying is that there is a small minority of men who find it impossible to cope when their families break up.

These men come from all walks of life. They include doctors, businessmen, electricians, lorry drivers and security guards.

But they all seem to have one thing in common. They feel that their masculinity is being threatened.

In getting divorced, they believe they are losing the one thing that makes them feel like successful men: their families.

In murdering their children, they are, in some twisted way, wresting back control not just of their children, but often of their wives, too.

Killing their children is the most shocking and dramatic way they can think of to shout to the world: 'Look how powerful I am.'

In murder, many are also seeking the ultimate revenge. They know that in killing their children they are killing the things that are most precious to their former wives.

Horrifically, many of these men leave notes at the scene, blaming their ex-wife for the tragedy. Some even add the extra twist of writing: 'I hope you will be happy now.'

There are two patterns that Family Annihilators follow — both equally dangerous for children.

In the second scenario — as in the Stevensons' case — the marriage is already over, the family has broken up and the children are living with the mother.

Far from satisfied with the outcome and filled with impotent rage, the father wants revenge.

I don't know about Stevenson's wife, but often the trigger is that the spouse is with a new partner or is pregnant. He may have been dreaming of a reconciliation: now he has to face the reality of losing his wife for ever.

In half of all cases of Family Annihilator, the murderer kills his former wife, too.

For most parents, the thought of sitting down and plotting how we are going to take our children's lives isn't just abhorrent, it's simply unimaginable.

But that is exactly what these fathers do. They spend weeks — sometimes months — planning every gruesome detail.

And perhaps most frightening of all, they are able to do it all while keeping up a facade of normality. While they are plotting, no one guesses what's on their mind.

The check Mark sent to Elaine, postmarked the same day Dylan was reported missing.

This has always bothered me, could this have been his message to her?

Elaine had always had to pay him child support, until she won primary custody at the end of September.

He was going to have to start paying, but not until after a hearing in January which didn't happen because Dylan was "missing".

Karin Hatfield Luna Madre! Hear Hear! He is absolutely all of those things! And since it is all a matter of court record...yes. Elaine supported Mark for years while he stayed at home at watched Dylan (and worked at Papa Johns part time). And yes, Elaine paid Mark child support...even though she had the kids 99% of the time (the majority of time he was awarded either Mark did not use or the kids did not want to go). This was because Elaine was the sole supporter of the family for most of the time and she had a much higher income. Fair? No, but that is our court system.

Calling Mark Redwine Possibly, or control. He's never paid child support, and I do believe that he was supposed to start after that last court date. Which explains why he fought so hard to keep Elaine from moving to Colorado Springs. He fought her all the way, when the judge said yes, that meant that he had to pay Child Support, and then?? woooops, Dylan is gone.

Calling Mark Redwine Some things that people don't know. It's never been Elaine that kept this fight going, she just wanted to live her life. But Mark was havin no part of that, he was going to do everything he could to make her miserable, and he did.

When Elaine tells Good Morning America that Mark may do something to keep Dylan from her, believe her. Listen to his son Cory. Listen to his two oldest sons who live in another state. These people have no relationship with Mark, you'd have to ask them why.

Calling Mark Redwine None of us want Mark to be involved. He was a part of that family, this is a horrifying reality that this family faces. This is not what they want, this kills them worse than it does anyone else.

This is simply taking the facts, and tracing it all back, and as unfortunate as it is, it leads right back to Mark. If this PI is any good, he'll see that right away and someone will be held accountable.

On Monday, Elaine Redwine told ABC News she fears that her ex-husband may have done something to "remove Dylan from the situation."

"I was married to Mark for a lot of years, and I know the way he reacts to things," the mother told ABC News. "If Dylan maybe did or said something that wasn't what Mark wanted to hear, I'm just afraid of how Mark would have reacted."

The mother also told ABC News she believes her ex-husband was upset that she was the court-mandated primary custodian of their son.

"I don't think Mark treats him very well," the mother said. "I would not put it past Mark to have done something to remove Dylan from the situation. You know, like 'if I can't have him, nobody will.'"

In a phone interview with 7NEWS, Mark Redwine responded to his ex-wife's remarks by saying she is making this "more than it needs to be."

The father added that he "needs to not lash out" at his ex-wife.

During the ABC News interview, the distraught mother made clear she's not sure what's happened to her youngest son -- but she fears the worst.

"I think somebody knows where he is. I don't know if somebody's hiding him or if somebody's already done something horrible to him," Elaine Redwine said.

Investigators back out on Middle Mountain after discovering remains of Dylan Redwine
2:18 PM, Jul 3, 2013

LA PLATA COUNTY - Investigators were back out on Middle Mountain Wednesday afternoon, searching for additional clues that could lead them to Dylan Redwine's killer.

Some of the 13-year-old's remains were discovered on a desolate side of Middle Mountain last week. Along with Redwine's remains, detectives also found the boy's shirt and one of his shoes.

On Wednesday, investigators combed different areas of Middle Mountain with search dogs.

Dylan Redwine disappeared from his father's home in Vallecito last November. Authorities are investigating the case as a homicide.

On Wednesday, La Plata County Sheriff's Spokesman Dan Bender told 9NEWS the community should not be alarmed that a killer is on the loose, but he wouldn't elaborate past that.

"I can't discuss matters of the ongoing investigation," Bender said.

Evening Monkeys,
TM, thanks for all the updates. That last bolded statement tells me the LE knows Mark is quilty. I hope they are keeping close tabs on him. I watched the video of the dirt bikes and LE had to have some indication of where to look or it would have been impossible to find anything. There are a lot of forest up that road. It would have taken forever to search every little bit of them. It breaks my heart that poor little Dylan was thrown down that mt. and left for the anlmals and elements. Hanging is to good for Mark.

Wishing all a Happy and Safe Fourth of July!!!!

The family of Dylan Redwine may never know how the Monument teen died.

"So far, the items that have been found are not enough to make an actual cause of death or manner of death," La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith said in a telephone message. "Until investigation goes a little further, we may not know exactly what happened to Dylan."

What 5 items did the police show Mark Redwine photos of?

This is what I could find on what was found of Dylan:
Two femurs,
a Shoulder blade
bone.

Physical evidence can provide more information than bones.
The Sheriff's dept has confirmed there is physical evidence that are not human remains, but need further analysis

“For her to focus just on me is an injustice to my son. She wants everybody to believe I hated her, but I’ve never hated anybody in my life,” Mark said. “If there’s any hate it’s in Elaine, not in me.”

But attached is a text message that Mark Redwine sent to Elaine Redwine within the hour that LE informed them their son was dead.

Kermit, I read somewhere this afternoon that tshirt and one shoe was found. It is in one of the articles that TexasMom posted . I will try to find it.

It is in this article  His backpack and other items he had with him have not been found. They were out searching again today.

I hadn't realized one of Dylan's shoes had been found until I clicked on the link of the article texasmom posted and I  read it in full earlier today.  I remembered reading about his shoe and was about to post, when I saw you had found the article and information you were looking for, darla.    We have to snip, so only so much information can be included in a post.  I wish we were able to post full articles, because I've found sometimes the articles disappear.  I really appreciate all texasmom has done to keep us informed  about the case and the maps and information cw618 has provided.  I'm hoping and praying there will be justice for Dylan.
