18 year old Brookelyn Farthing has been missing since June 22, 2013 in Madison County, Kentucky. State Police say Brookelyn Farthing was last seen Saturday morning at a home on Dillion’s Court, just outside of Berea. According to police, an hour after Farthing was last seen, a fire started at the house, but Farthing was nowhere to be found. Brookelyn Farthing’s belongings, including packed bags were still in the home. The only thing that was gone was her cell phone. Police are trying to figure out if the fire is connected to the missing person investigation.  As of now, the police are saying they are only linked, because the home is the last place somebody saw Farthing. Farthing is described as 5 foot, 1 inch tall, with blond hair and brown eyes. According to a flyer on Farthing’s Facebook page, the teenager had been wearing a gray Future Farmers of America shirt and light blue-jean shorts and was last seen at 6 a.m. Saturday.

Kentucky Girl, 18, Missing After Suspicious Couch Fire

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2013/06/kentucky-girl-18-missing-after-suspicious-couch-fire/

Quote
“I want God’s will to be done, and I want Brooke found, and I think it’s God’s will that Brooke be found,” said Farthing’s father, Randal Walker. “It’s not just us, if someone’s got her, it’s not just us that you’re going to have to pay, it’s God that’s going to deal with you.”

Farthing’s family told WTQV that the home was occupied by a male friend of her ex-boyfriend. The home did not have electricity for a couple of weeks, according to the police.

“Our arson investigators say it’s not common for a fire to start without electricity. It’s usually from an electrical short or a lamp that fell over,” Blanton said. “But it doesn’t make any sense that the fire would start the way it did happen. We’re still looking at it as being suspicious.”

Blanton said investigators had questioned the owner of the home, but did not have a suspect or person of interest at this time.

Farthing’s family said all of her belongings were still at the home, including a packed bag. The only item missing was her cell phone, which Walker said is still ringing when called, but no one will answer. They have been unable to track the phone, her family said.

“By the fact that her personal property was still at the house, it makes you believe she is possibly in danger,” Blanton said.

But Blanton said he hopes Farthing is missing because she wants to be missing.

If the phone is on, why can't they track it?  If it was out of a service area, then that would be the message when they call it.  Lots of unanswered questions here such as where is the ex, why was she there in the 1st place, etc.  Surely the phone being on is a good sign.

Brookelyn Farthing Missing: Police conduct interviews to try to find Ky. teen who disappeared over the weekend

Authorities said they were conducting interviews on Wednesday to try and find out more about the disappearance of 18-year-old Brookelyn Farthing, said CBS affiliate WKYT.

Police told the station that they are searching the central Kentucky neighborhood where Farthing was last seen before she went missing on Saturday morning after a house fire.

She had been staying at a home with a man in Berea, located about 80 miles southeast of Louisville, which is where the fire broke out, reported WKYT. Police said the man told them that he left the house for a while and when he came back, it was on fire.

Brookelyn Farthing Update: Landowners asked to check property in search for missing Ky. teen

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-57592450-504083/brookelyn-farthing-update-landowners-asked-to-check-property-in-search-for-missing-ky-teen/

Kentucky State Police investigators are asking landowners in four Kentucky counties to check their property for any signs of Brookelyn Farthing, an 18-year-old woman who was last seen on June 22.

Trooper Paul Blanton says property owners in Estill, Jackson, Rockcastle and Madison counties should pay attention to freshly turned earth and unusual smells, ditch lines and remote areas.

"We are doing everything we can to locate Brookelyn, and our hope is still that she will turn up, she will call somebody, she'll let us know that she is OK. But this is just a direction the investigation has to take to make sure that that aspect is covered," Trooper Paul Blanton with the Kentucky State Police said, according to CBS affiliate WKYT.

Brookelyn Farthing's stepdad says she texted friends day of disappearance

http://www.wkyt.com/home/headlines/Brookelyn-Farthings-stepdad-says-she-texted-friends-day-of-disappearance-220421591.html

...

Randall Walker, Farthing's stepdad, tells us she texted friends overnight, trying to get a ride home from a party at a home in Berea. We're told she went to that party June 22nd with a friend, but ended up arguing with the friend and didn't have a ride home.

Walker says she sent multiple messages, and that she was texting her ex-fiance to get off work, and come pick her up because she was scared. The last message Walker knows of was one sent from Farthing's phone at 5:30 a.m. saying she no longer needed a ride, she was going to a party in Rockcastle County.

Walker also told WKYT the last time a cell phone carrier was able to locate Farthing's phone was off a tower near Blue Lick, in Lincoln County.

Brookelyn Farthing update: Case in danger of going cold
Berea :  KY :  USA | Oct 03, 2013 at 5:23 AM PDT

http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/15674551-brookelyn-farthing-update-case-in-danger-of-going-cold

Someone knows what happened to Brooke, and that someone was likely with her in the home that notoriously caught fire the night she vanished. It's also very likely that the person(s) responsible for her disappearance will never come forward for any reward, regardless of the amount.

I don't like this at all.  She had a packed bag and was calling around for a ride.  The bag was still there, along with all of her other belongings, but she hasn't been seen or heard from again.

I have a lot of questions:

Was the final text sent by some one else and the couch set on fire to destroy evidence?

Where did the man who lived there, the friend of the ex-boyfriend, go when he left the house 'for a while'?  When did the ex-boyfriend leave work?

Who is paying the phone bill?
Who is charging the phone and why is it untrackable?

Can these cloaking apps be hacked by investigators?

I don't like this at all.  All these 'revelations' in the news about the NSA sucking in all the cell phone/internet/email/closed-circuit camera data - and a simple cloaking app could allow a perpetrator use of a victim's property at the expense of the victim's family?

Is that possible?
