Hmmm.  My husband just walked past me, looked at my computer screen and asked what I was doing.  I told him I was posting trial tweets.  He laughed and said "no one listens to tweets".  I think plenty of people "listen" to tweets.  It can be a very powerful source of communication.  JMHO
