SAGINAW (CBSDFW.COM) - The Saginaw girl, whose nude body was found bound and covered with a tarp, has been identified as six-year-old Alanna Gallagher, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner. Her time of death is listed as 7:33 p.m., not long before neighborhood kids found her body. The six-year-old had just celebrated a birthday on June 12, less than three weeks before she was murdered.

Gallagher was found at the intersection of Cindy Ln. and Round Rock Dr. at about 7:30 p.m. Monday. The discovery site was more than one mile north of the victim's home on Babbling Brook Dr., where parents reported their daughter missing at about 9 p.m. that evening.
Investigators are still searching for a red pickup truck spotted by witnesses near the scene. Witnesses told police the truck had a green paint splatter on the right rear panel. During an afternoon press conference Wednesday, Ing said investigators were not sure whether Gallagher was intentionally placed in the roadway or if she fell out of the truck.
 
On Wednesday, an FBI receipt viewed by WFAA revealed investigators confiscated plastic bags, various colored tapes and tarp to help the probe into Gallagher's death. The list was written onto an FBI search warrant receipt visible on the front seat of a car registered to the owner of the home where the victim lived. A partial list of items taken included:

•Blue/Gray tarp
•Red, White, Camouflage tape
•Electrical tape
•Citizens Academy card
•Copy of Social Security card

Some residents said they aren't exactly sure what to think about the investigation: On one hand, Saginaw police spokesman Ofc. Damon Ing said at a press conference Wednesday that investigators believe the case is "isolated" and stressed the public shouldn't be worried.
But they also say the Gallagher family aren't suspects, and close to 40 investigators spent part of their July 4 holiday working the case. There also is a $10,000 reward in place for information that leads to an arrest and prosecution.
Earlier in the week, FBI investigators thoroughly examined the Gallagher family home.
Karl Gallagher, who identified himself as Alanna's father, told News 8 on Wednesday that the family wants privacy.
He wouldn't discuss what kinds of questions investigators were asking of them, nor would he talk about the circumstances surrounding the young girl's disappearance and murder within a few hour span on Monday. She was reported missing at about 9 p.m., about two hours after her body was found.
The memorial site grew over the day Thursday, with some 250-plus stuffed animals and condolence notes placed along Roundrock Drive where her body was found. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the police tip line at either 682.888.3682 or 682.888.3684.

Someone killed the six-year-old and dumped her body wrapped in a tarp in a neighborhood intersection. Two teens found her on Roundrock Drive and Cindy Lane Monday night.

Her family told police she was last seen playing outside.
 
Rachel Monk from Saginaw is taking that fear and turning it into action.

"This has got to stop," Monk said. "We can't keep losing our children to predators like this."

She is urging families and businesses across the city to wear purple in honor of Alanna. It was the girl's favorite color.

"By the end of next week, I want to see everybody in Saginaw with a purple ribbon," Monk said.

Several businesses are already participating in the effort.

As for Monk, she plans to spend the weekend trying ribbons around light poles in her neighborhood. She is also wearing a purple shirt to work.

She hopes the campaign sends a message of hope and healing.

"We are never going to forget you [Alanna,]" Monk said. "We are are never going to forget what happened. You are in our hearts."

Police continue to receive tips on the case, but no one has been arrested. Investigators say the family is not suspected, and believe the case will be an isolated incident.

News 8 has learned detectives are reviewing video surveillance from home and businesses in the area.

Police have questioned the girl's parents and family and so far do not think they are involved.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from homes near where her body was found. They hope to catch a few frames of that red truck with a splotch of green paint a witness saw leaving the scene.

Residents hope an arrest happens soon.

"It does worry me for everyone involved and I just hope that for the family, for the investigators and for the whole entire community that we can find peace and that we can find someone that did this," said Holly Anders.

Investigators say this investigation will become a lot clearer after the medical examiner determines the cause of death. Many families in the neighborhood are on vacation so investigators have to wait until they get back to ask to see their video.

The body of six-year-old Alanna Gallagher was found, hands and feet bound and almost naked, under a tarpaulin, about a mile and a half from their family home in the suburb of Saginaw, near Fort Worth, Texas.

As the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) join the investigation Gallagher’s father, Karl, is pleading with the public for help in finding those who abducted his daughter from in front of their suburban home and killed her.

Police are currently looking for a red pickup truck, with a green splotch, that was seen in the area when the body was found by a group of teens.
 


We urge anyone with information about her to contact police. We thank the Saginaw police, the FBI and any other agencies for their hard work on this. Please respect our privacy during this time.”

Alanna was abducted on Monday evening as she played outside the family home. Neighbors said it was not unusual to see the little girl riding her scooter up and down the quiet street. Her family, including her mother, father, two siblings and another man who lives with the family, were all at home at the time of the abduction.

Her body was found at 7.30pm that evening.

Karl Gallagher did not report her missing for two hours after that

 
Speaking about the murdered child John Janus, a neighbor, told the Forth Worth Star-Telegram “She seemed smarter than the average (child her age), just because of the questions she’d always ask.

“And her parents are nice and very, very smart people. They like books. The last time I was in their home, the front room looked like a library.”

CBS) SAGINAW, Texas - Police in Saginaw, Texas say a makeshift memorial set up to honor Alanna Gallagher, a 6-year-old child found murdered earlier this month, was set on fire overnight. According to CBS DFW, the family's car was also torched.
 
The station reports that Ing says the fire was clearly intentional, but it is unclear whether the person(s) responsible have any connection to the girl's murder.

"It did happen at the same residence where [Alanna] did reside, but right now the investigation is still in its beginning," Ing said. "As far as having any attachment, we don't know."
