Officer, Suspect Shot While Serving Warrant for Gallagher Murder

A law enforcement source told NBC DFW that police went to the home of Tyler Holder, 17-year-old neighbor, because DNA evidence linked him to Gallagher's slaying.

The home is in the 600 block of Babbling Brook Drive in Saginaw, a couple of houses away from Gallagher's home.

Holder came to the front door with a gun in his waistband, pulled it out and opened fire at the officers, a law enforcement source said.
 
Arlington police Detective Charles Lodatto, who was assignment with the FBI task force investigating Gallagher's slaying, was shot in the groin. The bullet divided his femoral artery, doctors said later Tuesday.

Holder was shot in the head and his condition is life-threatening, MedStar EMS confirmed. He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth
 
Holder Arrest Warrant
Gallagher was found wrapped in a tarp with plastic grocery sacks taped over her head with duct tape. The warrant also states the 6-year-old was sexually assaulted.

NBC DFW has chosen not to reveal further details about the assault because of its graphic nature.

According to the warrant, Holder was seen pacing "up and down the sidewalk" when Gallagher's body was found.

Neighbors in the area told officers that Holder told them the body recovered was Alanna Gallagher before the victim had been identified.

“Holder stated that he had no contact with Alanna Gallagher and that she had never been in his house,” the affidavit says. He also denied the report about a tarp in his backyard.

But video surveillance obtained from the north and south ends of Babbling Brook Drive did not show Holder driving his vehicle that day as he had said, according to the affidavit.

Tyler Holder was only about 6 when a family dispute led Tyler’s mother, Kimberly, and her twin brother to cut off contact with their father and his new wife, Gina.

Jeff Holder would not set eyes on his grandson again until Tuesday, when the now-17-year-old’s picture was flashed on every local news website and TV station, reporting that he’d been shot in the head as officers tried to arrest him in the sexual assault and suffocation of 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher.

SAGINAW -- Officers serving a search warrant at the home of 17-year-old capital murder and attempted capital murder suspect Tyler Holder took a letter addressed to "Mom," red duct tape, condoms, belts, and toilet paper among 153 total items according to the receipt for property seized by the FBI, obtained by News 8.

Holder was shot in the head Tuesday morning after he shot an Arlington detective serving an arrest warrant for capital murder in the case of Saginaw six-year-old Alanna Gallagher, who lived two houses down from Holder in the 600 block of Babbling Brook Drive.

The arrest warrant, obtained by News 8 earlier this week, said Gallagher was sexually assaulted and suffocated before her body, wrapped in a tarp, was dumped in the street less than a mile from her home.

The wounded detective, Charles Lodatto, was moved out of intensive care Thursday. Authorities last said Holder remained in serious condition.
