Accused George Zimmerman shooter required to wear GPS monitor
Posted: May 29, 2015 2:03 PM CDT
Updated: May 29, 2015 3:46 PM CDT

SANFORD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - The man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman will be required to wear a GPS monitoring device.

Matthew Apperson, 36, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery and firing a missile into an occupied conveyance stemming from an incident with Zimmerman on May 11.  He was arrested on May 15 but released on a $35,000 bond.

Prosecutors filed a motion on Thursday to require that Apperson wear a GPS monitoring device as a modification of his previously-imposed bond conditions.  A hearing on the motion was held on Friday.

The assistant state attorney argued the only reason the first appearance judge did not order Apperson to wear the tracking device was because that judge thought they would need Zimmerman's home address, which he has not been made public for safety reasons. But that turns out not to be the case.

Circuit Judge Debra S. Nelson agreed with the state and ordered Apperson to be fitted with the device.

"So there will be no travel travel restrictions placed upon Mr. Apperson," she explained, "just that he be fitted with that device with that feature with the sole purpose of determining whether or not he's in the proximity of Mr. Zimmerman, and that he be alerted to that fact, so he takes whatever actions he deems necessary for that protection."

'Stand Your Ground' Defense Planned By Man Accused Of Shooting George Zimmerman
AP    Posted:  05/29/2015 6:23 pm EDT    Updated:  1 hour ago

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — An attorney for a Florida man charged with shooting at George Zimmerman said Friday that he planned to use a "Stand Your Ground" defense — the same legal strategy considered but ultimately not used by lawyers for the former neighborhood watch leader who was acquitted in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin.

Such a defense would entitle Matthew Apperson to a hearing, ahead of his trial, during which a judge would decide if he deserves immunity from prosecution because he feared imminent death or bodily injury. Apperson was charged earlier this month with aggravated assault and battery for firing a gun into Zimmerman's car during a traffic run-in. Zimmerman had minor injuries.

Man charged with attempted murder of George Zimmerman
Updated 5:48 PM ET, Thu June 18, 2015

(CNN)—Matthew Apperson has been charged today with second degree attempted murder in last month's shooting of George Zimmerman.

"Our law enforcement community and the State Attorney's Office works vigorously to ensure people may travel our busy streets, going about their business, without fear. Every resident and visitor to Seminole County deserves this freedom," said State Attorney Phil Archer.

"My reaction to these charges is a pronounced shrug," Apperson's attorney Michael LaFay told CNN. "I've reviewed the charges and they don't change the facts. The prosecutors have put their heads together and tried to contemplate what could be the most serious charges, but that doesn't really change anything. This is a case of self-defense."

Apperson also faces charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle and aggravated assault with with a firearm.

His arraignment is scheduled for June 23.

Zimmerman's alleged shooter accused of urinating on neighbor's front porch
Published On: Jul 14 2015 10:47:13 PM EDT   Updated  2 h

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. -
Local 6 has exclusively learned there's new trouble for the man who shot at George Zimmerman claiming self-defense.

Matthew Apperson is now facing a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, accused of urinating on his neighbor's front porch.

A new motion filed last week by the State Attorney's Office asks a judge to revoke his bond for his attempted murder charge.

Apperson was home Tuesday night but shut the door at the sight of our camera. Local 6 called his lawyer and left messages, but he has yet to return our calls.

Zimmerman's attorney, Don West, told Local 6 he didn't want to comment, simply saying he hopes the judge will consider whether Apperson should be out on the streets.

Kramer said the series of events could work in the state's favor of putting Apperson in jail, but that won't be decided until July 31.

Apperson is a danger to his community IMO.  His mental illness is getting the best of him.

Man charged with shooting at Zimmerman accused of urinating on neighbor's door
1:29 PM EDT Jul 15, 2015

ORLANDO, Fla. —A Florida man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman during a traffic encounter earlier this year is now accused of urinating on a neighbor's door.

Seminole County prosecutors charged Matthew Apperson with disorderly conduct last month in connection with the incident.

According to a Winter Springs police report, Anthony Woods was cleaning an apartment complex's pool when he said he heard Apperson "yelling obscenities" in the direction of a female neighbor's home. She was not inside at the time. Woods told officers that Apperson then urinated on the door.

Bond revoked for man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. —
A judge granted a motion on a separate charge to revoke the bond for a man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman.

Matthew Apperson was taken into custody Friday on a separate charge. The state attorney asked the judge to send Apperson back to jail for allegedly urinating on his neighbor Sharee Rivera's doorstep.

Apperson had been out on bond since the shooting and was being monitored by GPS.

Apperson denied urinating on the Rivera's doorstep and pointed out that he's being monitored by GPS, so, there would be evidence if he had gone to her home.

Judge Debra Nelson said because there is probable cause in the case, it violates the rules of his bond.

Man accused of firing at George Zimmerman returns to court
UPDATED 5:20 PM EDT Aug 19, 2015

LAKE MARY, Fla. —A man charged with trying to kill George Zimmerman was back in court on Wednesday.

Matthew Apperson appeared in handcuffs before a judge on a misdemeanor charge that caused his bond to be revoked last month after police said he urinated on a neighbor's front door.

"At this time we will go ahead. Since he was never arrested on this charge, we will go ahead and remand to custody and issue (a) $1,000 bond on this charge," the judge said.

The attorney representing Apperson said the judge's bond ruling is just a formality for the charge since he was summoned, but not arrested.

A judge ordered Apperson to return to court Oct. 8 on the misdemeanor urination charge. The judge also scheduled a docket review on Oct. 8 to coordinate a trial date.

George Zimmerman Testifies Against the Man Accused of Shooting At Him
 09/22/2015 AT 05:55 PM EDT

George Zimmerman took the stand in Florida on Tuesday, testifying against the man who is accused of shooting at him in May.

Matthew Apperson, who claims he shot at Zimmerman in self-defense, is facing charges of attempted murder, in addition to other charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and firing into a moving car.

During a probable cause hearing on Tuesday, Zimmerman gave his recollections of the May 11 incident:

He testified that was heading to a Sam's Club in a car with a tire that was low on air. When he heard a car horn honking, he initially thought it was someone trying to tell him he had a flat tire.

"After, I rolled down the passenger side window and I said, 'Thank you, I already know I'm losing air,'" Zimmerman testified. "That's when he said, 'You already know you're wrong for killing that little black boy?'"

"He said, 'Do you remember me, you fat f---? You owe me your life,'" Zimmerman testified. "I laughed and said, 'You're a clown.'"

"At that point, I looked into [his] vehicle," Zimmerman continued. "I saw the barrel of a gun."

Professional Imbecile George Zimmerman Retweets Graphic Photo of Trayvon Martin's Dead Body
George Zimmerman, actual thug and current Confederate flag struggle painter, has somehow managed to amass 11,000 (presumably stupid, racist, or both) followers on Twitter since somehow being acquitted of second-degree murder in the shooting death of unarmed black 17-year-old high school student Trayvon Martin. In an effort to maintain his personal brand, Zimmerman regularly tweets and/or retweets wildly idiotic statements on matters of race, politics, and his own storied history

George Zimmerman loses appeal in NBC defamation lawsuit
Posted: 1:35 PM, December 02, 2015
Updated: 1:50 PM, December 02, 2015

George Zimmerman’s attempt to sue NBC News over its coverage of the Trayvon Martin shooting in 2012 has once again been scuttled.

On Monday, the Fifth District Court of Appeal affirmed a lower court’s ruling to dismiss the defamation lawsuit Zimmerman filed against NBC Universal.  Zimmerman had claimed the media company maliciously edited phone calls he placed to 911 shortly after he shot and killed Martin in 2012.

The appellate judges did not issue a written explanation as to why they believed the trial court was correct in dismissing Zimmerman’s lawsuit.

The day before the appeals court ruling, Zimmerman sent out a Tweet that read, "NBC suit is alive & well".   Zimmerman promised 20% of the proceeds from the lawsuit would be used to pay back supporters who donated to his legal defense fund.

In June 2014, Seminole County Circuit Court Judge Debra S. Nelson threw out the defamation case.

"There are no genuine issues of material fact upon which a reasonable jury could find that the Defendants acted with actual malice," Nelson ruled. She said the malice standard was appropriate because Zimmerman is a public figure.

George Zimmerman Divorce Finalized; Keeps Truck, Family Dog
By The Associated Press
·SANFORD, Fla. — Jan 22, 2016, 8:31 PM ET

George Zimmerman is officially divorced.

The Orlando Sentinel (http://goo.gl/egEIya) reports that a Seminole County judge signed the divorce order Tuesday, ending his marriage to Shellie Zimmerman.

Divorce proceedings took so long because the former couple fought over how to split millions expected from a defamation lawsuit against NBC Universal Media LLC. A judge eventually tossed out the suit.

Zimmerman will keep his pickup and the family dog. George and Shellie Zimmerman will each be responsible for their own debts.

Man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman gets help with fees

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- The man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman filed a motion on Tuesday, saying he does not have enough money to pay his legal fees, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Matthew Apperson is facing second-degree attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting at Zimmerman during a May 2015 in Lake Mary, Fla. A judge granted Apperson's motion to be declared indigent, which means the state will assist in paying for his legal counsel.

This gun should have been destroyed.

George Zimmerman puts gun that killed Trayvon Martin up for auction
May 12, 2016

SALE: One .9-mm pistol — and whatever’s left of George Zimmerman’s bankrupt soul.

The Florida neighborhood watchman who fatally shot unarmed teen Trayvon Martin in 2012 is putting the killer handgun up for auction — and hoping to fetch at least $5,000.

“I am honored and humbled to announce the sale of an American Firearm Icon,” Zimmerman wrote in his online description of the weapon. The perverted auction opens for bids at 11 a.m. Thursday.

“The firearm for sale is the firearm that was used to defend my life and end the brutal attack from Trayvon Martin on 2/26/2012 ... Many have expressed interest in owning and displaying the firearm including The Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. This is a piece of American History,” Zimmerman wrote.

The 32-year-old Zimmerman — who left the world gasping when he was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the case in 2013 — said he recently got the .9mm-handgun back from the Department of Justice, which kept it after his trial.

The Kel-Tec PF-9 is displayed on online auction site Gunbroker.com, with a picture of a court officer holding up the gun at his murder trial.

Zimmerman tagged the item with the Latin phrase, “Si Vis Pace Para Bellum,” which means “If you want peace, prepare for war.”

He also said a portion of the proceeds will go to help fight Black Lives Matter “violence against law enforcement officers” and to end “Hillary Clinton’s anti-firearm rhetoric.”
