I would be curious to know how many of
These celebrities who are voicing such strong
Opinions actually followed this entire case
From start to finish.
And I dont mean through MSM , I mean
Actually listened to all the testimony
And heard all the evidence ,
Quite sure not many .. If any at all.

Ticket sales must be down for Mr. Wonder ....
Just saying ...

This is Marley Lion:

Marley Lion was a 17 year old, unarmed white male shot and killed by a 30 yr old black male on 6/16/12 in Charleston, SC.
http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/TheBattery/archives/2012/07/31/four-arrested-in-marley-lion-murder

The story never made it past the local news. No celebrities tweeted about it. Our President didn't say that if he had a son, he would have loved him just as Marley's parents did. Eric Holder wasn't conducting an investigation to determine if a hate crime had been committed. Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson didn't march in the streets on Marley's behalf. National news media didn't devote days and days to the tragedy.
No relationships between black and white friends were strained around an awkward topic. There were no "sides" to be picked. There was just right and wrong and it applied to all in a commonality founded on good and evil, not black and white. The opportunity to grieve together, to share sadness together, to condemn violence together, to care together was not robbed by those in public positions with a podium.

The push to react to this verdict is based on ignorance of this case, and IMO, a need by a few to validate themselves. I'm appalled at the price to the country they are willing to pay for that validation. I'm appalled at those who allow themselves to be persuaded.

Charts at the link.   Pew Research Center, July 11-14, 2013.

http://blogs.e-rockford.com/applesauce/2013/07/16/surprise-despite-the-media-focus-most-americans-were-not-very-interested-in-the-zimmerman-trial/

Surprise! Despite the media focus, most Americans were not very interested in the Zimmerman trial!
Posted on July 16, 2013 at 9:28

The charts above are explained HERE:

The final days of the trial of George Zimmerman, which concluded July 13 with a verdict of not guilty, attracted relatively modest public interest overall. In a weekend survey, 26% say they were following news about the trial very closely.

This is lower than interest in the initial controversy over Trayvon Martin’s shooting when it erupted last year. In March 2012, 35% said they followed news about Martin’s shooting very closely.

However, the story has consistently attracted far more interest among blacks than whites – and that remained the case in the trial’s final days. Blacks are more than twice as likely as whites to say they tracked news about the Zimmerman trial very closely (56% vs. 20%).

Moreover, fully 67% of blacks say they watched at least some live coverage of the Zimmerman trial, compared with 38% of whites. About one-in-five blacks (21%) say they watched “almost all’’ of the trial coverage; just 5% of whites reported watching almost all of it…

Blacks have consistently expressed more interest than whites in Trayvon Martin’s shooting and the prosecution and trial of George Zimmerman. Currently 56% of blacks and just 20% of whites say they followed news about the trial very closely.

Racial differences in interest about Martin’s shooting and its aftermath are wider than in interest in the police beating of Rodney King in March 1991, as well as the acquittal of the officers and subsequent riots in May 1992. The racial gap in interest in Martin/Zimmerman news also is wider than in O.J. Simpson’s arrest in June 1994 and his trial a year later.

George Zimmerman juror B-37 drops plans to write book, agent says
Woman says it is best to go 'away from writing any sort of book and return instead to my life'
July 16, 2013

After she was dropped by her literary agent, a juror in the George Zimmerman trial has decided against writing a book on the high-profile case, she said in a statement, citing the "depth of pain" many in the public associate with it.

The woman known publicly only as B-37, her jury selection designation, now says that serving in sequestration as a juror "shielded me from the depth of pain that exists among the general public over every aspect of this case."

"The potential book was always intended to be a respectful observation of the trial from my and my husband's perspectives solely and it was to be an observation that our 'system' of justice can get so complicated that it creates a conflict with our 'spirit' of justice," she said. "Now that I am returned to my family and to society in general, I have realized that the best direction for me to go is away from writing any sort of book and return instead to my life as it was before I was called to sit on this jury."
B-37 was the first Zimmerman juror to speak publicly about the trial, granting an interview to CNN's Anderson Cooper which aired Monday evening.

The interview came two days after B-37 and five other jurors acquitted Zimmerman in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. The verdict was a shock to many, and sparked protests across the country. When news of B-37's plans to write a book broke Monday morning, many expressed outrage.

A Change.org petition was circulated, asking the agent who'd signed B-37, Sharlene Martin, to end her representation. Reaction in social media to the planned book was harsh.

Early Tuesday, a Twitter account apparently belonging to Martin posted a message indicating she'd decided to drop the project: "After careful consideration of the book project with Zimmerman #JurorB37, I have decided to rescind my offer of representation," the tweet said. Buzzfeed.com, quoting an email from the agent, reported a similar statement.

As of about 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, the petition had gathered more than 1,300 online signatures.

In her interview with Cooper on Monday, B-37 said that she believed Zimmerman was guilty of bad judgment, but not a manslaughter or murder, on the night of the Feb. 26, 2012, shooting in Sanford. She said she didn't view the case as a "racial thing."

Speaking in shadow, the woman said Zimmerman should not have gotten out of his vehicle after reporting Trayvon to police as suspicious, but she thought Zimmerman was afraid for his life during his fight with the teen later and had a right to protect himself.

And then these people protesting the government will march back to their government-funded homes in time to have their government-funded dinner in front of the TV they bought with their government welfare checks and call their friends on their government phones.

From the above link in tweet I posted.  This doesn't seem to be confirmed at this point.   I'm finding just because there's an article with a link doesn't make it true...    JMHO

George Zimmerman Files Civil Suit Against Trayvon Martin’s Parents
July 15, 2013

<National Report> THIS JUST IN… George Zimmerman filed a civil suit today just before 5PM EST at the Seminole County, Florida, Courthouse. The suit alleges the parents of Trayvon Martin, failed to control their minor-age son on the evening of February 26, 2012, when Martin repeatedly assaulted Zimmerman, placing him in imminent fear for his life and resulting in the death of Martin.

The civil action specifies that Zimmerman acted in self defense resulting in the case being ruled a justifiable homicide by a jury trial that ended on Saturday with a verdict of not guilty.

Protesters want Rick Scott to call special session on Trayvon Martin death
July 16 2013
TALLAHASSEE -- Roughly 60 protesters filled Gov. Rick Scott's office Tuesday morning demanding to meet with the governor and calling for a special session to address issues surrounding the Trayvon Martin case.

The group, comprised of members of Florida New Majority, League of Women Voters and Dream Defenders, have said they won't leave Scott's office until he agrees to meet with them in person. Scott is in New York for the day, but organizers say they will wait, even if that means staying all night.

The group said they want Scott to call a special session to address racial profiling and the Stand Your Ground law
