I have known many Americans who have a real interest in people from other places, and are not at all racist, xenophobic or jingoistic, colonialist, exceptionalist, proudly ignorant, or any of the other various traits.

I will stick up for some of them since they get a hard time from their countrymen.  Smile

That said, people from everywhere have a special feeling about their home country, for most it is more like best food, prettiest girls, best music, most beautiful scenery, etc, a few nationalities get a little bit extreme about it, but thankfully, not even all of those are so bad!

Nativelingo and write.... something

Was there, in fact, another arrest at 5 PM today (Friday)?
I hadn't heard this.

If you look at the list of people on the forum, none of the Aruban posters that I know are on.  I'm anxious to hear what updates they have for us.  They all seem like really great people.

They ARE! And very sensitive. I distinctly remember Arubagirl (before we had this new forum) getting her feelings VERY hurt with some unfair remarks. She had to be begged to come back...and it was TOM himself who came in and said how great she is as well as the other Arubans..in here...and the ones he met while on the island.

Actually I am very surprised how much information can be gathered just a person removed from the island Aruba.  Look at all the profiles links that was given.  I am still trying to figure out this Roels guy link I saved eons of msgs ago.

After listening to the online radio I am not sure how much I can gather, dang lots of commercials tho, and from the actual news, I gather just as much of speculation as well.

I'm yet ANOTHER dreaded newbie.  I am glad I found this forum.  Like so many, I have been intrigued by this tragedy since it started, maybe because I'm from Birmingham.

Forgive me if I am asking an old question, but has there been any word on whether they released those three?  God I hope not!

No satellite tv tonight so I can't keep with up Greta and Nancy.
Hi Sassy.. , you dreaded newbie! NO!

i concur with nancy that we should nor let self importance or paranioa get in the way of a free flow of information.  we are following a story.  it comes from diverse sources, mostly secondary.  We have a lot of resources here to evaluate and collate the information that comes in.  We have lingusits, locals, insiders, computer geeks, people who know people, general knowledge, law enforcement and diplomatic experience, world travellers, etc.  We should welcome anybody who wants to participate either actively or passively as long as they are objective and mature about it.  In the time I have been here we may have scooped MSM a few times but we have not crossed the line to helping the bad guys in any way I can think of.

I didn't mean to start any confusion about the awesome help and information and dedication from all our aruba folks.

This afternoon, some of us who were posting got to comparing notes and we realized that we each had seen some rather mysterious posts in the past 3 weeks.

We pointed out a few that were 1) strange, 2) trying to anonymously provide a tip (bless them for that!), and 3) seemed to be prying for infomration in a seedy kind of way.

That is the only reason I stated that everyone needs to be mindful of how public the posting is.

Thank you Ting! Very true.

Just seems like when there is not much new to discuss, people seem to filter in with unbelievable comments.

I am So Glad they are keeping those three in jail.  I'm praying there will be a positive resolution to this soon, I feel so bad for Natalee's family.
