One news report said Croes had gone to the police on his on volition, to make a statement, and was detained after making it, which made me wonder if he might be considered more as a material witness, but people with more knowledge of Dutch laws can speak to that.

To the best of my knowledge, US law does permit imprisonment of material witnesses, I don't know about Dutch law.

ITS possible that he could be use as material witness :0)

I searched and found it.  This is the guy on the amazon site.  he is not the one everyone recognizes as Steve the party boat driver/dj.

And yes, there is a Steve Croes listed as a crewmember of aira aruba on the air aruba site  air aruba is now bankrupt.  he is not listed as a pilot but is on a list of airline pilots.  i overlooked that post this morning trying to keep up with breaking developments.  i am sorry.

I just don't understand how this could have happened to such a wonderful person. If Joran spent a lot of time with her the night before could it have been love at first sight? Perhaps he didn't want her to go home? Just another theory. I know she would never do this to her family. The thought just came to mind though.........

I think this was a re-broadcast.  They were wrong, it wasn't Croes that was released, it was the other guy they picked up for questioning last night.

Yeah, it's getting kind of ridiculous... I won't answer the phone anymore.  It's good that they are keeping Nat in the spotlight, but that's just it... we want NATALEE in the spotlight... I don't want to be all over TV. It seems to me that when 1 or 2 people are all over the news when they arent official reps, the almost overshadow the issue.

There was a report here today concerning a couple who said they were on a cruise with several people from your trip.  I can't remember the date of the post, it was posted on another forum soon after Natalee went missing.   I didn't save the post, but someone might have it here.  It sounded so legit. Thought I'd ask.

As upsetting as Natalee's case: the stupidity of the FL cops who did not read John Couey (Jessica Lunsfords murderer) of his rights. Essentially meaning he will not get the death penalty and worst case scenario...could walk free.

He came in last night and gave a statement, then went home. This morning at 6 AM he was arrested. The Aruban gov. put out an official statement, which is the strongest indication we have about his MAJOR involvement.
