The criminal trial around the murder of Peter R. de Vries may have to start over due to a judge’s resignation. One of the three judges is moving abroad, was revealed during a hearing in the reopened case on Thursday, NOS reports.

The lawyers representing suspects Delano G. and Kamil E. refused to comment on Thursday morning, according to NOS. The OM also wouldn’t say anything. They’ll reveal their decision in the next hearing in November.

De Vries’s son Royce is not happy with this revelation. “You think everything is over, and then maybe the whole thing must start from scratch.” He called it remarkable that the court had not anticipated the judge’s departure, which had been known for some time. According to De Vries, the court should have appointed a reserve judge, as happens with big lawsuits like the MH17 or Marengo trials.

Good question!  I've looked around periodically since she made that statement in May and haven't found anything further about it.  I'll do some more digging.  Even if they're waiting for DNA evidence to be tested, surely they would have results soon.

Last Monday on the 9th of May, a story published in various media outlets indicated that journalist Greta van Susteren had important evidence which could potentially solve the Natalee Holloway case.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office received information on the 6th of May regarding a meeting between Dolfi Richardson, ex-Police Commissioner and Natalee Holloway’s mother, who was subsequently in conversation with Van Susteren. The meeting between the parties occurred on the 22nd of March. Van Susteren mentioned that during the meeting, new information was revealed which could potentially solve the Holloway case. She also mentioned that Detectives would not take any statements from her.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office is looking for alternative means for Van Susteren’s statement to be heard. The Public Prosecutor’s Office will no longer be revealing information surrounding the new revelations.

The Dutch man is also suspected of involvement in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway. The American went missing in Aruba in 2005. United States lawyer and television presenter Greta van Susteren, who announced last year that she had new evidence in the case Natalee Holloway, has been scammed. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - The man accused of killing Mountain Brook teen Natalee Holloway during a high school graduation trip to Aruba in May 2005 is on his way back to the U.S. to face criminal charges, according to Holloway’s family.

In a statement released Wednesday night, Beth Holloway says the government of Peru has agreed to temporarily extradite Joran van der Sloot to Birmingham to face federal wire fraud and extortion charges related to an alleged attempt to extort the Holloway family for money in exchange for details about how Holloway died and where her remains are located.

“In May 2005 my 18-year-old daughter Natalee Holloway left Birmingham for Aruba to attend her high school graduation trip and was never seen again,” Holloway said in her statement. “She was abducted and murdered there. Now almost exactly eighteen years later, her perpetrator, Joran van der Sloot, has been extradited to Birmingham to answer for his crimes. While I will have much more to say later about what is happening, for now I want to express my sincere gratitude to President Dina Boluarte, the President of Peru, the warm people of Peru, the family of Stephany Flores, the FBI in Miami, Florida and in Birmingham, Alabama, the U.S. Attorney’s office in Birmingham, the U.S. Embassy in Peru and the Peruvian Embassy in the U.S., my longtime attorney John Q. Van Der Sloot is imprisoned in Peru and serving a 28-year prison sentence for the murder of 21-year-old Stephany Flores Ramírez in 2010.

The federal indictment filed in 2010 alleges Van der Sloot demanded Beth Holloway wire him $250,000 in exchange for revealing the location of Natalee Holloway’s remains. Federal prosecutors say Holloway wired $25,000 and Van der Sloot lead the family to a location in Aruba where he said Natalee Holloway’s remains were buried, but knew that to be false.

Van der Sloot could not immediately be reached for comment on Wednesday. More than a decade ago, he told a Peruvian judge that he would fight efforts to be extradited to the U.S.
