And let me repeat, if this is all on the up and up the FBI just needs to release the documents, transparency is important." Rep. Jim Jordan to Newsmax: 'Typical' for Feds to Delay Info

Offering the caveat that the answers come out eventually, Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Newsmax it's "typical" for federal agencies to be slow to respond.

Speaking on a request for information from the FBI on convicted Dutch murderer Joran van der Sloot, Jordan told "The Record with Greta Van Susteren," that a protracted waiting period is "typical" when requesting information from federal agencies.

"Anytime we want information from — it seems like from any federal agency — it takes forever. There's this back and forth with letters, and then sometimes we have to go to subpoenas and different things. But it's always tough to get information whatever the subject, whatever we're doing."

Nineteen years ago, Mountain Brook senior Natalee Holloway disappeared in Aruba during a high school trip.

She was legally declared dead years later. Since then, the main suspect in her disappearance, Joran van der Sloot, has never been charged.

Eighteen years later, while on trial for wire fraud and extortion against Beth Holloway in connection to her daughter's disappearance, van der Sloot told the FBI that he killed Natalee.

Van der Sloot said he bludgeoned her to death because she refused his sexual advances and then destroyed her remains.

Because of the 12-year statute of limitations in Aruba, van der Sloot is not likely to face charges for her murder.
