31 year old Myranda Dale Southern, also known as Myranda Whisenant, has been missing since Monday, August 19, 2013 in Greenville County, South Carolina. Myranda Dale Southern, the mother of two, was last seen around midnight at her job at Charter Communications in Simpsonville. She was supposed to be headed to Zellwood, FL to visit family and pick up her children from their grandmothers house. However, never arrived. Authorities say Myranda may be driving a beige 4-door 2000 Buick LeSabre with South Carolina tag IEP-812. She was last seen wearing a navy blue long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans. Myranda Southern is currently separated form her husband. However, he was present at the vigil and made a statement in her honor.

The mother of two young children was last seen around midnight at Charter Communications in Simpsonville where she worked.

 She was supposed to be heading to Zellwood, Florida to visit family, however she never showed up.

WSPA-TV was contacted by a Lauren Searcy, a neighbor of Southern's, on Wednesday, in reference to the disappearance. Searcy lived right next door to Southern and the two women became close by being in such close contact.

Searcy said she was very upset because Southern was acting very out of character leaving Greenville County before she told friends she was leaving. Searcy said the two would sit out on their porches while their children played.

Searcy said Southern had two children, 8 and 10 years old whom she loved very much.

"We haven't heard from her at all. Monday was her daughters birthday and she is an amazing mother and would have never missed her daughters birthday," said Searcy.

Searcy said Southern let her children go visit her mother for a week before they were to go back to school on Wednesday. Searcy said Southern missed her children very much and decided to head down early on Monday to get them.

Body found in search for missing mom

LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - A body was found on Friday afternoon, not far from where a mother vanished.  That mom is central Florida native Myranda Whisenant Southern.

Southern's family became concerned earlier in the week when she never arrived to pick up her kids from vacation with their grandmother, who lives in Zellwood, Florida.

Officials in Laurens County, South Carolina confirmed that the body of a white female was found around 12:30 p.m. on Friday as a man was clearing some brush.

Southern was last seen and heard from in Greenville County on Monday.  She was due to arrive to pick up her kids in Zellwood on Tuesday.

Greenville County officials are looking into whether or not the body is that of Southern.  An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday morning.

Searcy said the only contact Southern has made was on Facebook but the message she left, Searcy said was not in words she would use.

"Just the way it was worded it was not her. Everyone who knows Myranda knows and the way it was put wasn't the way she talks," said Searcy.

Searcy read a message supposedly posted by Southern which told friends she was staying with a friend and needed some time to sort things out.

GARDEN CITY, SC (WBTW) - Horry County authorities found a body in a pond off Salters Road in Garden City Saturday morning.

Horry County police Sgt. Robert Kegler said the death appears accidental and that there are no signs of trauma or foul play. Official cause of death is pending toxicology report.

The victim was identified as 51 year old Christina Hennis, of Murrells Inlet.

LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. —The identity of a woman whose body was found Friday continues to be unknown.

Coroner Francis "Nick" Nichols told WYFF that investigators do not have a positive identification after an autopsy Saturday morning.

"It was inconclusive," Nichols said.  "We're now looking at dental records.  If we decide to do DNA testing, that could take four or five days."

Nichols said he will not release information on a possible cause of death until he has more information about the woman's identity.

"It's still just a mystery right now as to who we have," Nichols said.  "We need to be 100 percent sure."

That is a bit disconcerting. She has only been missing a couple of days and they cannot do a visual recognition of the body they found, nor though the autopsy?

LAURENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -
An arrest was made in connection to the death of Myranda Southern on Thursday night, according to Sheriff Ricky Chastain of the Laurens County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Darrell Ervin Raines Jr., 33, was arrested after a joint effort between the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, Greenville County Sheriff's Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Chastain said Raines met Myranda Southern online and they met in person for the first time a week before her death.

Raines is currently being transported to the Laurens County jail from Greenville County.

Chastain said Raines is being charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime by the Laurens County Sheriff's Office.

Southern was last seen alive on Aug. 19 in Greenville County. Her body was found the following Friday in a grassy area off of Bramlett Church Road in Gray Court.

A friend of Southern said she was shocked to learn Raines was charged in her death, she says he was the last person that was known to have spoken to Southern Aug. 19.
