Remember Elizabeth Smart, the perp hid her in the hills a few miles from her house.  She was there for months and no one in her family or LE founf her.  

Sometimes you just can't measure competency by how one case is handled.  Remember Henry Lee?  He said the third leg in an investigation is luck.

Ok, radio speculation.

1.  Oldest brother prime suspect.

2.  Both younger  suspects innocent.

3.  Older brother went back and did something.

4.  She was seen holding hands with a different local.

5.  She was seen in Marriot having lunch with two men.

6.  A woman was seen being dragged from the beach.

7.  She was totally vomitting drunk pretty much the whole time.

8.  She was seen knocking on door asking for direction to what I take to be a crack house.

I am not sure I believe any of them.
