Perhaps this has been discussed and I missed it but how does a 17yo who is not wealthy afford to frequent casinos?  How does he support such a habit?

I think it was too amatuer of a job for that. Had the bigger fish been involved then I say your theory is plausible but I feel this was a very amatuerish plot by these guys in Aruba and the best they could do was snatch her and hide her until they were able to figure out what to do next in terms of getting her off the island. They probably sat around drinking in the past talking about how much money they could sell a girl for and had delusions of granduer.

tell me the amatuerish part cause I can't find it

Amatuerish as in...if there had been a bigger, more sinister Columbian or Venezuelan influence then there would have been no clues, no trace, no witnesses, no NOTHING.....just GONE...without a trace.

El Diario in Spanish translates to Newspaper.  It is a common name for the newspaper in Hispanic countries--kind of like Times is in English.

All this unusual activity regarding missing persons and decapitated bodies - is there a trend? - is this truly unusual? Can one be linked to the other?

Sometimes it helps when a thread is locked to bring over the last few posts to the new thread.
