Quote from: "iquitos"
is this by chance the same casino natalee was in when she met him and the same bar they were seen leaving from?  why is this bad for joran and not bad for natalee?

Quote from: "sarah"
Correct me if I am wrong, but these are the things I remember being mentioned about the Joran's dad:
1.  He has been seen at the casinos gambling with Joran.
2.  He has allowed his son to live in an apartment next to his home.
3.  When Natalee's family came to his home to talk to Joran, he sent them to the casino to find him.  They immediatly went there to find him but alas, he wasn't there!!!  The family went back to Joran's house and found him and one of the brothers leaning against the car in the driveway.
4.  He allows Joran to stay out late (I think it's late anyway) on school nights.  He was known to be at C&C on a Sunday evening at 1:30.

What iquitos says!!

Regarding the post by sarah

It is perfectly normal for kids in countries outside the US to go clubbing at 16, 17 and 18. It's a cultural norm, not a sign of wickedness. As to the apartment, probably maids quarters or a small guest house on the family property, big deal. And regarding #4, I imagine school is out for the summer in Aruba, so going out on a Sunday night is not a sign of lax parenting.

Did anyone just see the LE expert they just interviewed on Fox?  It's common sense, but still interesting.  He said the best time to get a confession is immediately after a crime,  AND now that there are lawyers, if they haven't gotten a confession, it's doubtful there will be one now.  He said it's a cognitive process that in the very beginning our brains and thought processes are far more able to confess.  With our without lawyers as time goes by "we" naturally as humans begin to think we're innocent.  Not sure if I explained it clearly...but, it's very interesting.

While I fully support legal counsel for anyone, I do think what he says is very true.  I suspect that's why so many people are being brought in as possible witnesses.

The biggest mistake by LE down there was waiting so long to bring these guys in.

20 years ago, in south Louisiana - a radio station was having a live remote at some bar and me and a cousin decided to go check it out.  KIDS EVERYWHERE in the bar.

Turns out - they were with their families out dancing and visiting - something they do in that part of the country

Spent 15 years living along the border with mexico.  Good kids go clubbing by 14.  Clubs stay open very late.  I dont' know about Aruba, the the Siesta is real--and people sort of hybernate in the miccle of the day.  At nine at night they start coming out--as the heat breaks.  Kids play in the yards till well after midnight.

Almost all the houses had the second space--for maids, older relatives, or older kids.

Again we have to stop placing American cultural values on another land.

It was challenging to try to raise kids in the middle of a completely different culture.

Frankly we compromised a ton.

Here's a possible theory of why the Arubian justice system has been so inept at solving this case. Aruba is a small island. It's citizens are not poor, but enjoy a high quality of life. The island is 6 miles by 20 miles and has less than 100,000 inhabitants. In that environment, I can see how they may have put a lot of emphasis on the "honor code." In other words, each citizen is told not to cheat, steal, or harm his neighbor, because those same people will continue to be your neighbors for the next 3 generations, and any blemish on your honor will be handed down to your children, and to your children's children. And, for hundreds of years, that honor system may have worked. But now, we are faced with a really bad situation in which that honor system is no longer sufficient. And now the Arubians must do some soul-searching and come up with some new answers. And it isn't the fault of Dee Fine, or Geraldo Rivera, as despicable as those individuals might be. It's a recognition that the Edenic way of life that the Arubians enjoyed for hundreds of years is gone forever. Just a theory. That's why I'm here.

I've lived in the Bahamas as well as St. Thomas and it's all the same....but drinking and "partying" isn't as big of a deal as it is here.

Interesting points you make.  However, my belief is it's human nature, no matter where humans live in the world, that some are prone to violence, criminal acts.  Sometimes we can look back to see why....sexual abusers in most cases were abused themselves....violence begets violence, etc.  BUT, there are cases where kids from good, loving families for no apparent reason do bad things.

I don't think there's an honor system anywhere that can prevent humans from being humans...good or bad.  It's human nature.

>>attacks and theories about the people we don`t know without any evidence...could it be maybe just maybe that they had nothing to do with this?

There is evidence they changed their stories. They are proven liars. But you are right, the rest is speculation. Not much else we can do but speculate & wait. Smile

"According to a friend of the family, the Police Commissioner actually suggested that they go to Carlos & Charlie’s (the bar Natalee disappeared from) on Wednesday night. 'It is Ladies Night,' he said, 'and I am sure she will be there.'"

"[A]n American girl was rescued by the police, who called to report that “they are 98-percent sure they have Natalee.” The family raced to the police station only to discover that the female in custody had dark hair, brown eyes, weighed about 130 pounds, and looked to be about 45 years old. Natalee had blonde hair, blue eyes, weighed 110 pounds, and was 18 years old."

Golly! Why is Natalee's mother so angry?  Why is she having so much trouble staying "on message"?  Law enforcement has been soooo diligent from the beginning.

Professor,
Under your MBS, there would be no reason to change their story - would there?

Does anyone know if the reward is still at $50k?  If there is a possibility that she is still alive and that she could be worth $100k to some Columbian wacko, I am a little surprised that a big reward has not been offered to make it worth someone's while to return her.  I'm not saying I think that would be the right thing to do, but it surprises me a little that a $200k - $1M cash reward for her safe return has not been offered.

I have toyed with the idea of going to Aruba and trying to purchase a woman - wonder if it would help...

You'd probably get one, but not NH. I think she is worth about $1M in income if they took her into the sex trade business in Colombia or Thailand.

funny, these are the numbers I threw out yesterday and ppl said I was crazy

Actually, if you think about what we really know, it is very little. Most of the things that we now regard as fact are actually speculation. The sources for these facts tend to be friends who know someone in the FBI, or something to that effect. That hardly gives me comfort that we know very much of the truth, particularly because we have heard virtually nothing from the investigators.

I do think it's entirely possible that the guys in custody are largely (but not entirely) innocent here. The more complicated this seems to get, the more I think they are just bit players in a much bigger story.

this reminds me of an incident a few years ago. we took a van from the airport , we got to the hyatt, and i told my gf to let the baggage guys get evrything out of the van, well they forgot one bag.. would nt you know it, it was the bag with the new earrings i had made for her($7000.00). by the time we realized that the bag was gone, we saw that the van was gone. Well, Wilhelm, was like an assistant concierge at the hyatt, he assured me he would get the bag back. he said i known that man, and evrything will be ok.. he said if that man is known to have stolen your belongings, he will be shunned. i did nt believe a word of it. and proceeded to get shit faced, just to put it out of my mind. well a 7 pm, wilhelm shows up and says they have the bag.. i could nt believe my ears... i open the bag, and there is the muffin from the plane. still on top... they never even opened the bag.. im a believer...i tipped the van driver 100 and wilhelm 100...wilhelm now sell water sports down by the HI.. hes much happier...
