Ray Price goes into hospice at Texas ranch
December 12, 2013

Sad news about country legend Ray Price, who has been battling cancer since 2011. His wife, Janie, released a statement Thursday saying that he has decided to leave the hospital and any aggressive treatment and spend his final days at his Texas Ranch.

KLTV talked with Janie Price: "Ray is alert and aware of his surroundings and making decisions," said Janie. "With God's blessing he has not had extreme pain. But it's with great sadness that I announce to you today that my beloved husband has entered the final stages of his cancer that he has battled for 25 months. Anyone who knows Ray is aware that he has strong convictions and great faith in God. It's his decision to leave the hospital and return home to spend his final days on his beloved ranch surrounded by the comfort of his home, family and friends."
And the station shared his final message to his fans: "I love my fans and have devoted my life to reaching out to them. I appreciate their support all these years and I hope I haven't let them down. I am at peace. I love Jesus. I'm going to be just fine. Don't worry about me. I'll see you again one day."
Fans can mail cards of support to Ray Price, P.O. Box 1986, Mt. Pleasant, TX 75456, or leave notes on his Facebook page.

Ray Price Going Home to Hospice Care
December 12, 2013

After a long battle with cancer, legendary country singer Ray Price is being released from the hospital to home hospice care.

The 87-year-old veteran entertainer revealed he was battling pancreatic cancer in November of 2012, and has been hospitalized repeatedly over the course of the last year, first for treatment, and then to combat the after-effects of treatment. He has most recently been hospitalized since Monday, Dec. 2.

But now Price will leave the hospital for what is likely to be the final time. According to KLTV in East Texas, Price plans to leave East Texas Medical Center in Tyler on Thursday (Dec. 12) and return to his home in Mt. Pleasant for home hospice care.

The decision comes after news that his cancer has spread to his liver, intestines and lungs. Price and his wife of 45 years, Janie, have made the decision not to pursue further treatment.

ARUBA: It's all about Natalee...we won't give up!

Thanks for this thread MuffyBee, I've been following the recent news about Ray Price.

Sad...  Crying or Very sad

Went to Youtube and took a trip down memory lane.  Beautiful voice.

He has always been...and will always be the voice I hear when I remember For the Good Times.  Many artists recorded it, but his is the best imo.

Praying that the pain will remain manageable and that he is surrounded with love during his last days on this earth.

I stand with the girl, Natalee Holloway.

"I can look back over the past 10 years and there were no steps wasted, and there are no regrets,'' she said. "I did all I knew to do and I think that gives me greater peace now." "I've lived every parent's worst nightmare and I'm the parent that nobody wants to be," she said.

My Dad was a fan of Ray Price, and particularly enjoyed "Crazy Arms".  I know what you mean about the trip down memory lane.

Ray Price, has lived a life most of us dream of Smile

He has served his Lord, and shared his talents.  Life runs its course.

His last concert was in May, (at 87) he was still singing.

I say lets rejoice for the beautiful music that Ray has given us.

The good Lord, is calling him home. an angelic monkey

Thank-you, Ray Price, for the beautiful music, and you did not let anyone down.

Joan Fontaine, the coolly beautiful 1940s actress who won an Academy Award for her role in Alfred Hitchcock's "Suspicion" and who became almost as well-known for her lifelong feud with her famous older sister, Olivia de Havilland, died Sunday. She was 96.

Hundreds remember singer Ray Price, his 'magical voice' in Richardson
December 29, 2013

RICHARDSON — Inside the Canyon Creek Baptist Church Saturday in Richardson, people remembered Country Music Hall of Famer Ray Price for many things, but continued to come back to that one thing.

"I considered him the voice," said Janie Fricke. "His voice was incredible. It reaches out. It's a magical voice."

Grammy award nominated singer Janie Fricke was among the hundreds who attended Price's service. Fricke said Price was a pioneer whose talent spanned generations.

“No one could touch the uniqueness of Ray Price,” she said.

Price died on Dec. 16 at his home in Mt. Pleasant after battling pancreatic cancer. He was 86.
A private memorial service was held in Mt .Pleasant, but Saturday's service was a public celebration of his life and included his colleagues in the music business, as well as fans.

Singer Johnny Bush was in Price's band in the 1960s. He recalled that Price didn't have to do much to keep sometimes rowdy musicians in line.
"Ray had the innate ability to bring out the best in his musicians without demanding," Bush said.
Price's baritone was considered by some to be one of the best male vocals in country music.
Nashville disc jockey Eddie Stubbs officiated the service.
Fort Worth country radio personality Bill Mack read a statement from Willie Nelson, who used to be a bassist in Price’s band.
"Without a Ray Price, there wouldn’t have been a Willie Nelson," he wrote.
Mack said the singer of "Release Me," "Crazy Arms" and "For the Good Times" finished a record just before his death. He said Price never sounded better.
