Good Morning America report on Teleka Patrick shows surveillance footage from night of her disappearance

The report includes surveillance footage of Patrick at the Radisson Plaza Hotel & Suites in downtown Kalamazoo on the night of her disappearance. Patrick has been missing for two weeks, and her disappearance has begun to receive national coverage with a segment on Nancy Grace Wednesday night.

The surveillance video also shows Patrick walking on a sidewalk outside the hotel by a hotel van with a time stamp of 7:34 p.m. In the video, Patrick appears to be walking normally with no visible signs of drunkenness.

I wish that LE would get a real time line - this story says that she was trying to get a room "after a night out"  Other stories say that she left work at 7:25  - if both are true she had a SHORT night out

It seems that we are not getting all of the correct facts because the information is coming from the news reports, family, and the LE is holding back information because of the investigation.  Added to that, why are there reports of her being seen at the hotel, Comfort Inn, and driving erratically?  Does she want people to remember/notice her?  Is the person really Teleka?  Too many questions remain unanswered.

Psychiatry resident missing in Michigan
Dec. 19, 2013 at 2:57 PM

KALAMAZOO, Mich., Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Police in Michigan say they do not know if a medical resident who disappeared two weeks ago was the victim of foul play or left on her own.

A state trooper found Patrick's gold 1997 Lexus in a ditch off Interstate 94 just after 10 p.m. Other drivers have reported seeing a car matching the Lexus's description driving erratically on the interstate.

Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Pali Matyas said the car was undamaged except for a flat tire. Investigators do not know if Patrick was driving it.

Family wonders what Teleka Patrick was doing before she vanished
Friday, December 20, 2013 6:52 a.m. EST

Why would she leave her purse and phone at work at Borgess Hospital, get a friend to drive her downtown, where she would attempt to check into the Radisson only to learn she didn’t have enough cash?

Why did she then get the hotel to drive her back to the Hospital, get in her car and immediately leave town, despite the fact that she was due at work the next morning.

Her dad says she had her own place in kalamazoo. He wonders why she didn't she just go there? Why didn't she tell anyone where she was going?.

A police source close to the search says they know why but aren’t releasing the information because it might jeopardize their investigation.

I have been wondering if  the phone call, that people said made her distressed, that she got during a seminar (mentioned in another article) made her afraid to go back to her apartment for some reason. That's the only thing I can think of.

The whole thing doesn't really make sense.

Breaking Details in the Search For Missing Kalamazoo Doctor Teleka Patrick
5 mins ago

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – FOX 17 is following breaking developments in the case of a missing doctor from Kalamazoo.

The group “Find Teleka” just issued new details to FOX 17 about their search for 30-year-old Teleka Patrick.

-Investigators have seized Teleka’s computers and are reviewing their contents.

The group also released this statement:

On behalf of Mattahais & Irene Patrick,

Teleka has been missing for 15 days and this nightmare still isn’t over.

While we are thankful for your coverage of Teleka’s story, we are still desperate to find her.  Our hearts are aching with the thought that we may not have her in our arms for Christmas.  Christmas is a time for family, and ours won’t be complete unless she is here with us laughing and smiling.

We are still working with the Kalamazoo Sheriffs Department, the Indiana State Police and our private investigator.  We don’t know much which makes her disappearance that much scarier. The $10,000 reward has been posted for any information leading to Teleka being found.

The details surrounding her disappearance are so murky that we can’t help but speculate the worst.  Our questions have gone from WHERE is she, to WHO has her?  How is it possible for a 30 year old physician to just simply disappear?  We are confused and heartbroken

We are so frightened, and can’t imagine what Teleka must be feeling.  The fear of not being with family, lost and alone.  WHERE IS SHE???

We pray every second of every hour that she is not just alive but safe.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department released this statement to FOX 17:

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating the missing persons report concerning TELEKA PATRICK since first reported missing on December 6th. Since that time, the Sheriff’s Office has conducted an extensive investigation both in this area and Indiana. At this point in the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office will not be making anymore comments, nor will it field any inquiries regarding the status of the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office will issue statements as they become necessary. The Sheriff’s Office continues to seek information from persons who have direct knowledge or information surrounding her disappearance and they should contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office at 269-383-8748 or Silent ******* at 343-2100.

Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office no longer making statements on Patrick case
Friday, December 20, 2013 3:50 p.m. EST

The Sheriff's Office now says that they will not be making anymore comments on the case, nor will be fielding inquiries as to the status of the investigation. They will, however, be issuing statements regarding the case as they become necessary.

The release did not indicate whether or not the statement means Patrick has been found or if any breaks have been made in the case.

Updated: Friday, December 20 2013, 04:11 PM EST

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The family of a missing Kalamazoo doctor has offered an update to where things stand now in the hunt for the woman.

Family and friends say that police have seized the computers of 30-year-old Teleka Patrick, and are reviewing the computers' contents.

Patrick went missing December 5, after being last seen in the parking lot of Borgess Medical Center where she worked as a psychiatry resident. All of her belongings, minus her wallet and keys, were left at the hospital.

Police have also obtained warrants for both Patrick's work and personal email accounts in their search for clues.

They are also keeping an eye on her bank account and credit card activity. There has been no movement in either.

Oops.. That phone call was the day before.

Patrick received the call the day before she disappeared when she was attending a lecture for her residency at WMU School of Medicine, Patrick's mother told MLive. School officials told Patrick's family that someone saw Patrick's body language changed after the call ended.

An interesting article with some new information...

Brilliant and beautiful: A life full of promise, Dr. Teleka Patrick's disappearance has left her family, police baffled
on December 21, 2013 at 6:45 AM, updated December 21, 2013 at 10:37 AM

With 13 years of schooling behind her in pursuit of her dream of being a doctor in child psychiatry, Patrick was in her first year as a medical resident with the WMU School of Medicine.

Irene Patrick said the last time she spoke to her daughter was by phone on Dec. 1, as Patrick was on her way back to Kalamazoo from spending the weekend with family in Chicago for Thanksgiving.

For the next nine years, she called Loma Linda, Calif., home where she attended the Loma Linda University School of Medicine on a scholarship.

It was there that her passion for child psychiatry grew and also where she met her husband, who she was married to for four years before the couple divorced in 2011, Patrick’s family said.

Tenesha Patrick said her sister’s interest in child psychiatry was fueled during her sister’s time with her ex-husband, who had a young son with autism.

Now, 24 days since she sat with Gardner and her family that Thanksgiving night, and three weeks since she last spoke to her mother, Patrick’s family is prayerful and hopeful they’ll have her home for Christmas.

Irene Patrick spoke this week of how her daughter had already purchased a plane ticket to be with her parents in Florida from Dec. 23-30.

“We want her home with us,” Irene Patrick said. “We want everyone to have this picture etched in their minds of this lovely girl and her parents whose hearts are breaking.

“Our hearts just ache for her.”

Teleka Patrick was stressed, agitated but reason why remains mystery, private investigator says
on December 23, 2013 at 4:13 PM, updated December 23, 2013 at 8:13 PM

KALAMAZOO, MI — On the night she went missing, Dr. Teleka Patrick was stressed and experiencing “a level of agitation,” a private investigator hired by Patrick’s family said Monday.

However, the source of that stress and its connection to Patrick’s disappearance on Dec. 5 remain a mystery, said Carl H. Clatterbuck III, who runs a private investigation agency in Kalamazoo.

“What I do know is there was a level of agitation she was experiencing and if I knew specifically what was causing the stress, I might be able to better understand how she was thinking and how that thinking got her into the car moving westerly,” Clatterbuck said. “That is the mystery that we are trying to unravel.

“Why was she agitated?, Why did she head west? Why did she do any of these things? … That’s the core of what this is about.”

New Online Videos of Kalamazoo Doctor ‘Disturbing,’ Says Private Eye
3 hours ago

In one of the self-shot videos, the doctor begins on-camera saying,”Hi love. It’s me. So I finally got done. Um so I just wanted to show you what I made.  So I’ll start with, um, if you were here this is what would be your plate.”  The video called “Surprise! Final Video” appeared to be uploaded November 10, 2013.

FOX 17 News spoke with the family’s private eye Thursday afternoon who had already seen the videos.  He called the findings ‘disturbing,’ questioning Patrick’s state of mind in the time leading up when she went missing.  He also said it is clear Teleka didn’t feel safe in Kalamazoo and provided new information about clues he discovered.

Missing Doctor Felt “Heightened Sense of Agitation” Before Disappearance
2 hours ago

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – FOX 17 News has uncovered newly discovered online videos of a doctor who went missing in Kalamazoo.

FOX 17 News spoke with the family’s private eye, Carl Clatterbuck Thursday afternoon who had already seen the videos.  He called the findings ‘disturbing,’ questioning Patrick’s state of mind in the time leading up to when she went missing.  He also said it is clear Teleka didn’t feel safe in Kalamazoo and provided new information about clues he discovered.

The private investigator says the hotel shuttle driver who drove Teleka to her car the night of her disappearance says she acted as though she thought someone was following her or might be looking for her.

Though Teleka may not have felt safe in Kalamazoo, Clatterbuck says it’s unlikely someone was following her.

Clatterbuck says Teleka seemed to be in a “heightened sense of agitation.”  He says she was under tremendous stress in her residency and often goes without sleep.

Clatterbuck says family is not aware of  Teleka having a serious boyfriend.  He says a man she was seeing on-and-off was questioned with no leads to Teleka.   Clatterbuck adds that Teleka’s ex husband is not considered a suspect and that no one really knows who those videos were made for.

Last week, the FBI announced it was assisting in the investigation which is being headed by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department.  The family also said last week it hired a private investigator to look into their daughter’s disappearance and provided information about new clues in the case.

Teleka Patrick YouTube videos show missing Kalamazoo doctor singing to love interest
on December 26, 2013 at 6:26 PM, updated December 26, 2013 at 7:07 PM

KALAMAZOO, MI – In two YouTube videos uploaded last month, Dr. Teleka Patrick sings songs to an apparent love interest and, at one point, shows off a breakfast she made for the person.

“Hi, Love, it’s me,” Patrick says in one of the videos, which was uploaded Nov. 10 under the username, “sandra3000cassie.” The video is titled “Surprise! Final video” with a caption that reads, “I wish you were here with me.”

It’s unclear who Patrick, 30, made the videos for and she makes no mention of any names in the videos.

The videos are the latest development in a case that began Dec. 5 when Patrick disappeared following a day of work at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

Carl H. Clatterbuck III, a private investigator hired by Patrick’s family, said Thursday he does not think the videos “had anything to do with her disappearance,” however he does want to know more about who Patrick made them for.

“When you watch it, you have to wonder who is the beneficiary of all of this and I don’t know,” said Clatterbuck.

“It makes me wonder who she’s doing this for and I don’t know yet who she’s doing it for. It’s another mystery in the investigation to find her … the only person who I think could answer the question of who she’s making this video for would be Teleka.”

Investigators Focus On Missing Doctor’s “State of Mind”

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Private Investigator Carl Clatterbuck was hired by the family of Kalamazoo doctor Teleka Patrick family to help search for the missing 30-year-old doctor.

He says Teleka was in a “heightened sense of agitation” before disappearing and is now searching for answers about her state of mind.

Teleka deleted her Twitter account, but videos she appears to have posted on a site called Twicsy through her Twitter still remain.

In the videos, Clatterbuck sees what he describes as “disturbing” behavior. He tells us family says that is not normal behavior for Teleka.

Clatterbuck says Teleka has never been diagnosed with mental illness but was in a very stressful residency program and goes without sleep frequently.

The private investigator says it’s clear Teleka felt unsafe in Kalamazoo seeking out to stay at a hotel just miles from herapartment more than once.

Clatterbuck says it’s unlikely someone was following Teleka.

As for the phone call the day before Teleka’s disappearance that friends say upset her, Clatterbuck say phone records show nothing out of the ordinary.  The person on the other end was questioned without any leads to her.

Now, investigators are focusing on the short window between when Teleka’s gold Lexus was reported in a ditch on I-94 in Indiana, and when police arrived to find the car abandoned.

Clatterbuck says Teleka’s car was found with a flat front tire, which he believes explains the 911 calls reporting her erratic driving.

K-9 Units tracked a scent from the car to the highway but the trail ended there.

Teleka Patrick: Parents Release Statement Regarding Newfound Videos of Missing Doctor
11 mins ago

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Dr. Teleka Patrick, 30, has been missing since December 5th. YouTube videos of her (speaking to a romantic interest) surfaced this week. The videos’ upload dates are November 8th and 10th. Her parents released the following statement late Thursday night:

Our hearts are saddened that Teleka was not with us yesterday for Christmas.  We are aware of the YouTube videos that have surfaced today.  However, their relevance to her disappearance remains a mystery. These videos have led to more questions than answers.  To our knowledge, Teleka was not in a romantic relationship and it is unclear to whom she is making reference in the videos.  We pray that Teleka is safe and remain hopeful that we will find her soon.

Kalamazoo doctor's disappearance 'a big mystery'

Her cellphone and purse were found at work, where she apparently deliberately left them behind, investigators said.

Investigators have learned Patrick completed her regular shift on Dec. 5, but instead of going to her apartment just three miles away, she left her car in the hospital lot and asked a co-worker to drive her to the Radisson Plaza Hotel Suites on West Michigan Avenue in downtown Kalamazoo between 7:30 and 8 p.m. that night.

Clatterbuck said Patrick apparently did not have enough cash to get a room and had a hotel courtesy shuttle drive her back to her car at the Borgess parking lot.

“There seems to have been some effort to remain anonymous or for people not to know what she was doing,” said Clatterbuck. “Why not use a credit card? And since when does a 30-year-old in this age leave their purse and cellphone behind? Especially if they are planning a road trip of any kind.

“And when she got back to her car, the shuttle driver said she seemed nervous — even ducking down between vehicles —as if she was afraid of being seen by someone.

“I would say she was agitated but if she was worried about something or someone, she never told anyone about it.”

Clatterbuck said the shuttle driver watched Patrick get inside her car and drive away from the lot.

“I would like to broaden the search for her now with a public request that anyone driving in that area on Dec. 5 — between Indiana’s Highway 49 and Highway 20 — to think about whether they saw anything unusual,” said Clatterbuck. “Maybe someone walking along the road. Maybe another vehicle that might have stopped there.

“From when she left the hospital lot to her car being found is just about the time it would have taken her to drive the distance without going anywhere else,” he said. “I don’t think there was time for anything else to happen and she drove herself there for unexplained reasons but then something happened.”

Clatterbuck said Patrick did have a relative and also a friend who live in the Chicago area, but neither had any recent contact with Patrick.

Mysterious disappearance of Michigan doctor Teleka Patrick stumps investigators
10:11 PM, December 27, 2013

Irene Patrick anxiously paced her home Christmas Day, with one question in mind: Where was her daughter, Teleka?

“She’s one fine girl I’ll love for the rest of my life,” Irene Patrick said Friday from her home in Kissimmee, Fla. She hired a private investigator to assist in the case, which is being handled by the Indiana State Police, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI.

“The family is currently heavily involved in looking for evidence,” Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller said. “We’re ...seeking out information and taking it in different directions. There isn’t enough information to speculate.”

Here’s what authorities say they’ve pieced together so far in the time leading up to Patrick’s disappearance:

The question, investigators say, is what caused her to drive more than 100 miles west without her cell phone and purse and without alerting her friends and family. She had purchased an airline ticket to visit her parents in Florida and was supposed to arrive Dec. 23.

“There has to be some triggering event to make a person in their 30s leave their phone anywhere,” said Carl Clatterbuck, the Kalamazoo private investigator. “Phones for anyone between the ages of 14 and 35 are a large part of their life, to leave it means that you’re leaving all of your friends, relatives, all of your connection to the world. That suggested to me that she wanted to be away from something, and to not be tracked.”

Clatterbuck said Patrick received a phone call the day before she disappeared that may have agitated her, but he was told that there was “nothing remarkable” to be seen in her phone records. Clatterbuck confirmed that she had an “on-again, off-again” boyfriend, but he is not a suspect and the two were on good terms. Patrick’s ex-husband, Clatterbuck said, also is not a suspect because they haven’t had any contact in two years.

However, YouTube videos surfaced this week of Patrick singing to a suspected love interest at her home in the Gull Run Apartments. One video, posted to an account titled “sandra3000cassie” in early November, shows a breakfast she made for the person and her saying, “I just wanted to show you what I made, first I start with, if you were here, this is what would be your plate,” panning to a table set for two, with orange juice, Morningstar veggie bacon, pancakes and omelets. In another video, she refers to the person she’s addressing as “baby” or “love.”

Irene Patrick said she didn’t know to whom Teleka Patrick was referring in the videos.

“She didn’t tell me about her private life; she was an adult,” Irene Patrick said. “But I wish she had.”
