Husband, wife in custody in the Heather Elvis case

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) - Two people are in custody in the Heather Elvis case.

According to Lt. Robert Kegler of the Horry County Police Department, a search warrant was executed at 8786 Highway 814 , just off Highway 544 Friday morning.

Kegler said the search warrant was executed to obtain evidence based on new information gathered through expert analysis of previously seized surveillance tapes in the area along with financial discrepancies filed.

Sydney Moorer, 37, lives at that address with his wife Tammy Moorer and are both in custody, Kegler said.

I have suspected Moorer was more involved than anyone knew but I don't think I had thought about his wife.

Hope they can find her alive but it really isn't looking good.

Wondering if they got married during their trip to Vegas.  She/they look like druggies to me (not Heather).  I doubt Heather is alive.

I'm so thankful to see this search and the arrests, praying it leads to Heather.  Her family needs to know what happened to her!  Hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid it won't end well.

Wonder why on Tammy's facebook page there is no longer history of posts for 2010-2013?  What is she trying to hide?

And for him, strangely nothing for December 2013:

Two in custody in connection to Heather Elvis disappearance

Tammy Moorer, 41, and Sidney Moorer, 38, of Myrtle Beach, are in custody, according to Lt. Robert Kegler with Horry County Police, in connection to a search warrant executed Friday morning as part of the investigation into Heather Elvis' disappearance.

Both have been booked at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Saturday, police plan to release the charges the couple will face.

The warrant was served around 7 a.m. Friday at the home on Highway 814 near Socastee as an attempt to identify potential evidence based on new information obtained through expert analysis of previously seized surveillance tapes and financial discrepancies filed with the State of South Carolina on behalf of the people living in the home, according to a police department release.

The couple has several children, all juveniles, Kegler said. "The children are not in any danger," he added.

Horry County police, the State Law Enforcement Division, the 15th Circuit Solicitors Office, Highway Patrol, and the US Marshals Office were all on scene for the search.

Horry County police had a mobile command unit on scene because of the length of time the search was taking and because of the weather conditions, Lt. Kegler said.

After 11 hours searching, at about 6:30pm Friday, the scene was cleared, and the highway reopened. Lt. Kegler said that police found a lot of evidence during the search.

According to Lt. Kegler, there was no digging at the site, despite reports of that by witnesses.

There is still no sign of Heather Elvis.

The Elvis family released a statement around 10 a.m. Friday, according to the Find Heather Elvis Facebook page.

It said, "We are in constant prayer today and ask that you keep us and those who are working so hard to find answers in your prayers today also. God please continue to hear our cries for justice and mercy, thank you for your grace on those who seek your face."

Police have two in custody related to Heather Elvis case

By Jason M. Rodriguez

jrodriguez@thesunnews.comFebruary 21, 2014 Updated 7 hours ago

Relating to the disappearance of Heather Elvis, investigators execute a search warrant at a home on S.C. 814 off S.C. 544 on Friday. The brick home (right) surrounded by law enforcement vehicles is the home of Sidney Moorer and his wife Tammy Caison Moorer. The Moorers have been taken into custody and their bond hearing is slated for 3 p.m. Saturday at J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Conway. Robert Kegler of the Horry County Police said the warrant was executed "in an attempt to identify potential evidence based on new information obtained through expert analysis of previously seized surveillance tapes in the area along with financial discrepancies filed with the state of South Carolina on behalf of the occupants of the residence." Elvis has been missing since Dec. 17, 2013. Her car was found a few days later at Peachtree Landing in the Socastee community a few miles from the search site. The yellow home is owned by William Caison, according to Horry County records. JANET BLACKMON MORGAN — jblackmon@thesunnews.com

According to a press release issued by the department, “The search warrant was executed in an attempt to identify potential evidence based on new information obtained through expert analysis of previously seized surveillance tapes in the area along with financial discrepancies filed with the state of South Carolina on behalf of the occupants of the residence.”

When asked about the financial discrepancy mentioned in the press release, Kegler said the U.S. Attorney General’s Office was on scene and would elaborate further, but that information was not released.

Kegler said the surveillance tapes have to do with cameras throughout the Socastee area.

“The surveillance cameras that we’re speaking of have nothing to do with this property,” he said. “Those were previously seized surveillance cameras during the course of the investigation from December on, throughout the Socastee area.”

He did not know what kind of expert viewed the footage and would not say what was seen in the surveillance tapes that prompted Friday’s search.

Other search warrants previously were executed on the property, Kegler said, but he did not have specific details.

Cadaver dogs searched the property Friday with negative results, Kegler said.

Two flatbed tow trucks removed a red pickup truck and a black pickup truck from the property Friday. A mobile command center was set up and various police cars drove in and out of the cordoned-off scene.

An aerial view of the scene showed nearly a dozen vans surrounding two houses on the parcel that is west of the Highway 814 bend near the S.C. 544 intersection. Police were carrying items from one of the houses to a white van Friday afternoon.

No part of the property was dug up during the search, Kegler said, despite rumors that a concrete driveway was being torn up.

I think she's got a lot to hide Klaas, I've seen some of it.

JMO, I think after Tammy found out about Heather a FB "show" was put on, on both of their pages, by one of them; not both.  There was more on their pages when I looked at them a while back and that was my impression.

Regardless of what their relationship was (open?), it seems to me that when Tammy found out Sidney was involved with Heather...she lost it big time.

If you haven't seen it, one of Tammy's posts is here:

By WMBF News Staff - email

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - According to Lt. Robert Kegler with the Horry County Police Department, Sidney Moorer has been charged with the same charges as his wife, one count of obstruction of justice and two counts of indecent exposure.

According to HCPD, a hold has been placed on both of them pending additional charges, this means neither can post bond to be released tonight.

For the indecent exposure charge, Tammy Moorer could face up to 3 years for each count. And for the one count of obstruction of justice charge, she could face up to ten years.

Bond was set at $20,000 for Tammy Moorer for all charges, a second appearance was scheduled for May 2, and a trial for June 27 at 8:30 a.m.

Tammy Moorer told Judge Dennis Phipps that this sitauation has caused her to lose her job, and talked briefly about her family, including her 8 and 14-year-old boys and 12-year-old girl.

Charges released for pair arrested in connection to Elvis case
Posted: Feb 21, 2014 5:37 AM PST Updated: Feb 22, 2014 3:28 PM PST

Tammy Moorer, 41, is charged with one count of obstruction of justice and two counts of indecent exposure.  There's no word on what incidents these charges relate to specifically.

"In this particular case they saw fit to charge smaller charges to start with but I'll assure you a lot heavier charges are coming," said Horry County Solicitor Jimmy Richardson.

Richardson said he could not release what those "heavier charges" could be or how they're connected to the Heather Elvis case.

"Anything that we release at this point could jeopardize the case. We've got to be really tight fisted on that stuff certainly not trying to deprive the public or the family or anyone else of information but right now it could do a lot more harm than good," said Richardson.

Richardson said after Saturday's charges there are a number of different scenarios that can play out.

"It may very well be that one of them may work against the other one, it could be that both of them decide to work together. There are a lot of decisions that go into it," said Richardson.
