I too have wondered why the friends let her go with the 3 guys in the first place

but I also think that if these guys have been hanging around this group since the beginning of the trip and many of the kids had gotten to know them, maybe they too trusted these guys

and maybe Natalee said to one of her friends, don't wait up for me, I'm hoping to spend some time with Joran before I have to go home, don't wait for me, or the friends assumed that is what Natalee wanted,  for all we know she fell for him hook line and sinker

consider this, this was an annual trip apparently for this high school, maybe Joran met some of last year's class and some of the girls were raving about him,  maybe Joran was emailing some of them?  maybe Natalee heard about Joran

there was a rumour which apparently was dispelled by one of
Natalee's friend that she may have been emailing Joran before she arrived in Aruba

Joran was accepted into two Florida universities and I think he was planning to go to Florida for university, Alabama and Florida not too far huh

maybe these guys had given Natalee or other girls rides during the week and they were perfect gentlemen

See this is where there is a contridiction in stories. Good girl wouldn't have done that, doesn't fool around etc. Yet we know she "willing" left with him.

I believe it was Natalie's mother while being interviewed by Gretta that said these boys had been around all week.  She said that they had been with these girls for several days "hanging out".  That may be why Natalie got in the car with him...maybe she trusted him after getting to know him.  Does anyone else remember this?
Yes I recall, and some ppl do trust others after just a few days. I did at that age, years ago, lol.

the scuffle between Joran and some of the boys from Mountain Brook took place at the Holiday Inn Casino when Joran was with Natalee then, a few days earlier, as reported by the Birmingham News

In the Mysterious & Heartbreaking Disappearance of Natalee Holloway

Great stuff, Pug!  The only possibly correction I have is that it's now being reported that Anite van der Sloot wasn't questioned at all, but was there to visit her son.

Thanks, YPD.  I'll update my Word spreadsheet.

That is so funny that you responed to me.  I just PM'ed you; check your box.

i think down south people need to be dropped in a random BIG city for a week and learn a few things.

What is this whole "down south" thing? so "yankee" girls don't get taken advantage of or make bad decisions?

i'm from the south, but i know that you can't trust people. period.

I'm as cynical northerner jaded as they come, but at 18 I got into many different situations with "new friends."  How else does one meet new friends without deciding to trust them at some point? And it's pure fantasy to believe that everyone waits a set amount of time before their in a situation where they're forced to trust a person they don't know that well.  We all have done it. Unfortunately this time, because of the characters of those she trusted it went awry.  If she'd have gotten into a car full of good people, she'd be sitting poolside somewhere, laughing with her friends right now.

i tried to make that exact point but i was called a troll......my main point is that in order to find natalee the search has to be for the "real" natalee not the goodie 2 shoes natalee.......and i really do hope they find her save

The reason you were called a troll is because a lot of people on this board seem to have the mentality to attack the character of the victim, and your posts look similar to theirs even though I think you had good intentions.  The problem I have with what you are saying is this: how do you know that the goodie two shoes natalee wasn't the real natalee?  It seems to me that you judge her based on your presumptions of how teenagers behave.  All of her friends have said that she was a good girl and all of her family has said it.  Certainly, they could all be trying to defend her character. But without some reason to think she wasnt good why doubt the family/friends?

There are naive girls in all parts of the States...and the world.  I am getting so effin sick of people in here trying to find fault in Natalee, her friends, family or chaperones.  If you think it's the victim's fault, please get the hell out of here and discuss with others who want that type of dialogue.  NOBODY here wants to read that CRAP!!!!!!!

I might have done just what Natalee did when I was 18; now I know better. I think street smarts come from age and experience, not necessarily from geographical location.

Puggywug -

Not sure about the dates but, the rumors I read say that  Croes, Arendsz, and Van Rijn are primarily friends of Deepak not Joran. Wink

When would he have "spent the night " with Natalee?? not very likely that would have happened considering he hasn't been brought until now, her friends would have id'ed him earlier... also nat is not that type of girl!

how do u know she was'nt

Because all of her friends are saying she wasn't, unless I see evidence to the contrary I'll believe them over rumors on the radio, given the history of misinformation in this case.

then y did she go with 3 boys and her friends didnt think anything wrong till it was time to leave....doesnt add up

Yes it does.  Remember this was their last night on the trip before going back, so I think its safe to assume that a lot of them didn't go to sleep.  Also there were 130 students. so its quite possible that her roomates thought she was with someone else, and they did report it that morning not when they got ready to leave.

girls dissapear and are raped as much up north as they are down here. This is not a north vs. south issue. it is completely irrelevant! Natalee is missing and it is not her fault. We have no idea what happened that night, but knowing her I know she is a wonderful, bright girl. We all have made bad decisons in our lives and it is a shame that she is being blamed for this. the only ones to blame are the ones that hurt her!!

about not "knowing" someone after a few days

I don't know about you but on trips, time takes a different dimension

remember how everyone fell in love and got engaged after one weekend on the Love Boat, OK I joking sort of

but I've had friends who swore they were in love after meeting someone on vacation [I'm harder to fall, LOL, oh but no, I forget, yep it almost happened to me once, I thought I'd met my soul mate but the crappy thing was I had to leave for the next part of my trip, if I had been able to stick around even a few more days, I might have found out, sigh, he was a Brit who could do the best Canadian accent, LOL]

and when i was younger I went backpacking in Australia by myself and I met people and I would feel like I'd known them all my life after a few days - of course the cool thing about backpacking is there are only so many hostels so you keep running into the same people all the time which is great

I went to Fiji first, out to Beachcomber's Island and I tell you there were about 30 of us that bonded in a very short time, we were all twentysomethings from all over the world and we were crying when we had to say good bye five days later.......that and when the American college students invaded the island.......

...Natalie's mother while being interviewed by Gretta...

According to an eye witness from the time they were leaving C&C's, Natalee said she was returning to the hotel "with them", pointing to a group of friends.  When her friends saw her drive off, they thought she was riding in a taxi.  Also, Natalee has never had a serious boyfriend, and according to her friends she is quiet and shy.  While she may have "willingly" gotten in the car, we JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THAT.  Again, according to an eye witness, her intentions were to go directly to the hotel, not go to the lighthouse, not go "neck" on the beach.
