Police say Carly Scott was last seen Sunday night at her sister's house in Haiku. The 27-year-old is five months pregnant, has red shoulder length hair, green eyes and is about 5-foot-10.

Carly's dog, who was with her Sunday night, was found at the Nahiku market place on Monday. That's where today's search began.

"Anybody who goes out there, please wear bright clothing. Don't be on Hana Highwat walking. Carly would not thank any of us for getting hurt on her account," said Kimberlyn Scott, Carly' mother.

Kimberlyn says her daughter got a call from her ex-boyfriend Sunday night saying he needed help after his car stalled near mile marker 20 of Hana highway.

She was last seen in a silver colored 1997 Toyota 4Runner with Hawaii plates MDE-889.

Missing Maui woman's car found, search continues for Carly

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/24707232/missing-womans-dog-found-search-continues-for-charli

This is starting to really not look good and the focus has to be on the ex-boyfriend.

Quote
Friends, who say they were "searching on a hunch", discovered the car of a missing woman on Maui this evening, but still no sign of five-month pregnant Carly Scott.

It's now been 72-hours since family members or friends have seen or heard from Charly, as those close to her call her.

Friends tell Hawaii News Now they discovered her car at the top of Jaws surf break just after 6 p.m. Wednesday night.

"They said that on a hunch because of where Steven lives, they decided to go down there and look and they found her car," described Scott's mother, Kimberly.

Steven is Scott's ex-boyfriend, who family members describe as estranged and the father of her unborn baby.

Quote
"There is absolutely no reason that Charly would have taken her car out there alone," said Kimberly, describing the spot above Jaws surf break as a place where teens hangout.  "It's a party place.  Charly is five and a half months pregnant, as a girl you just don't go out there alone and Nala wasn't with her," Kimberly said.

Scott's dog Nala was found 20 miles southeast of the spot where she was last seen along the Hana Highway near mile marker 20 in Keanae.

According to her ex-boyfriend, that's where she drove to help him after his car broke down Sunday.  He reported to police she was following him back to Haiku -- but all of a sudden, she was gone.

Scott's car was found 20 miles in the opposite direction.

"They need to know who was around that vehicle.  I'm assuming they need to look if it ran out of gas or if it's mechanically operating, and I'm assuming they need to look for blood or any signs of foul play," explained Kimberly.

Breaking: Clothes of missing pregnant woman found

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/24721045/exclusive-ex-boyfriend-of-missing-pregnant-maui-woman-speaks

More news from this missing person's case that is not good. The missing woman's clothing was found along the Hana highway near where her dog was located.

Quote
Charli Scott's sister found clothes that she says Charli was wearing when she disappeared Sunday night.

Sources tell Hawaii News Now, the sister found the items while searching the area around the Hana Highway.  The family called police Thursday evening and were apparently told them to stay there with the items until a detective arrived.  But the sister instead drove the items to the police station in Kahului where the clothes and blanket are being processed.

This comes one day after Charli's SUV was found torched near Jaws surf break.

Ex-Boyfriend Steven Capobianco questioned by police and told by authorities that he failed the lie detector test. He claims it was just a tactic by police.  Capobianco has not been named a suspect. Let me rephrase that ... not been named a suspect, YET!

So let's get the story straight here that the ex is telling ... Steven Capobianco calls up his estranged girlfriend who is 5 months pregnant with his child to help him because his car broke down. Carly drives to help him. So what was wrong with his car? Is Carly the 2010's version of Marisa Tomei, Mona Lisa Vito, from 'My Cousin Vinny'? How exactly did she help him with his broken down car? One would think that all she could do is drive him back home or to a gas station so that he could call a tow truck. But no, Steven Capobianco says that she was following him in her car and because he drives faster, she was out of site. He never called her or texted her to see if she was ok. WHO DOES THIS? So this guy called her to help him and he didn't have the where with all to make sure she and his unborn child was ok.

Sorry, does not pass the smell test.

Missing pregnant Hawaii woman's burned SUV found
February 14, 2014

The Makawao woman's badly burned 1997 Toyota 4Runner was found at Peahi, near the "Jaws" surf break, Maui police Lt. William Juan told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. Before the vehicle was located, police found Scott's dog in the nearby community of Nahiku, the Maui News reported.

Steven Capobianco, Scott's ex-boyfriend, told Hawaii News Now she picked him up Sunday night and drove him to Keanae, so he could fix his truck. Her dog, Nala, was with her when she picked him up, he said.

Capobianco said Scott later was driving behind him to Haiku, about 25 miles away, but he lost sight of her SUV around Twin Falls.

He said he figured she arrived safely at her destination.

"I sent her a text that said, 'thank you,' but I figured she was working, that's why she didn't get back to me right away," Capobianco told the news station. "It wasn't until the cops showed up at my house at 5:30 in the morning the next day that I realized something was wrong."

Capobianco said police questioned him and administered a lie-detector test, which he was told he failed. But he told the station he "absolutely" did not hurt the green-eyed Scott, who police described as 5-feet-10 and 160 pounds.

Police have not made any arrests or named any suspects.

"I mean, it's undeniable that I'm probably the prime suspect, so they're not going to tell me details," Capobianco said.

Capobianco said he and Scott have been broken up for several years but remained friends and "occasionally hooked up." He said he believes he's the father of her baby but doesn't know for sure.

(Good map if an access road at bottom of this article/posting also good description of the acces roads)

Jaws (Surf Break aka Pe’ahi)
Last updated 19. Jan, 2014

The Pe’ahi Lookout
The lookout on the Peahi cliffs above the break are the best vantage points outside of a boat or helicopter. As far as driving to the overlook goes, the best route is shown in the Google Map below. This 1.5 mile dirt road currently is graded to a point that cars that aren’t especially low can get in or out when it is dry. That said, it can rain suddenly on the North Shore, and what looks like a sunny beautiful day can be sprinkled with sudden downpours turning the steeper parts of the road to a surface that’s as slick as ice. Depending on what you’re driving, you could get stuck and need assistance. There are a few places you can park off to the side of the road (be sure not to block access roads), so if walking 3 miles round-trip is not an option, you can drive in as far as you feel comfortable given the current conditions, and opt to walk the rest of the way.

There is only one reason why you torch a vehicle like this ... to attempt to get rid of the blood and DNA evidence.

"Hi, my name is Mileka Lincoln I'm calling from Hawaii News Now, KGMB/KHNL. I'm calling to see if I can ask you some questions about the ongoing search for Charli -- I know that you've helped to participate in it and I know there are questions about you being the last person to have seen her. I just wanted to see if we could clarify some things."

Steven: "Go for it."

Mileka: "I'm going to record this if that's okay, and this is going to be for our coverage. Tell me how you know Charli."

Steven: "First off, I don't want my voice on the news."

Mileka: "You do not want the recording used?"

Steven: "Yeah, I do not want the recording used. I don't want my voice coming out on everyone's TV on this island."

Mileka: "I understand."

Steven: "But I will answer all of your questions and you guys can record it for your own personal use."

Mileka: "Ok."

Carly Scott Search Turns Up Duct Tape, Gloves As Worst Feared For Hawaii Woman

The family of missing pregnant woman Carly Scott is preparing for the worst possible news after searchers reportedly found frightening new evidence that the 27-year-old may have met a grim fate.

“I almost have no doubt that somebody out there knows what happened to her,” said Fiona Wais, sister of the missing Carly “Charli” Scott, who was nearly six months pregnant when she disappeared on February 9. “She was obviously taken and somebody out there knows. They need to come forward.”

On Friday, near the same spot where items of clothing belonging to Carly Scott were recovered a day earlier, searchers found two used rolls of duct tape and a pair of gloves.

The family of Carly Scott, who is the second woman to vanish on Maui in the past month, held a press conference Monday to announce a $10,000 reward for information that leads to Carly Scott being found. The search for the missing woman, however, has now shifted to sea, as searchers have begun diving below the surface of Maui’s Honomanu Bay, believing that Carly Scott’s body might be in the water.

Maui Police release first update in cases of two missing women

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/24758338/watch-now-maui-police-press-conference-about-missing-women-live-online-mobile

Quote
WAILUKU, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -
Maui Police say while there are many similarities, they do not believe the disappearance of two Maui women in the last month, Carly "Charli" Scott and Moreira "Mo" Monsalve, are connected. Maui Police Chief Gary Yabuta says his department has made both cases a top priority. Chief Yabuta says he is very proud of his officers' investigation -- adding he understands both families' frustration and empathizes with them, saying none of his detectives are sleeping well at night either.

Despicable!!  Unethical.  And illegal.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/22/carly-scott-landlord_n_4834969.html
Carly Scott's Landlord Allegedly Steals Her Belongings Five Days After She Goes Missing
February 22, 2014

Carly Scott's family is outraged after the missing woman's landlord allegedly entered her Maui home and took her personal belongings, according to a report from Hawaii News Now.

Scott, who is five-months pregnant, was reported missing on Feb. 10 by her mother Kimberlyn. Four days later, Scott's family accompanied police -- who needed to collect DNA evidence -- to the missing woman's rental home, where they say some of her items were missing, including a TV, stove, and baby toys intended for her son.

In an interview with Hawaii News Now, the landlord -- who asked to remain off camera -- claimed that Scott owed him money for rent and took her stuff in order to "protect it."

Kimberlyn said that the landlord also demanded hundreds of dollars for the return of her daughter's belongings.

"Apparently he has settled on $350 as his amount," Kimberlyn said. "And he told me the first time I met with him that he would waive that if we would leave him the TV ... and it just really felt very ugly and it's not right and I don't ever want to see anyone go through this. It's unbelievably ugly behavior."

As Hawaii News Now points out, "Landlord-tenant code under Hawaii law prohibits landlords from entering a tenant's property without a judge's ruling, and they have no authority to remove anything."

As of Feb. 19, no suspects have been named in Scott's case. On Friday, Scott's family released a public statement thanking the Maui Police Department and local community, as well as discouraging the community from unfairly judging Scott's ex-boyfriend, Steven Capobianco, citing his full and continued cooperation.

Capobianco has been labeled a person of interest since he was one of the last people to see Scott before her disappearance.
