Hi, I've been reading the board for over a week and finally registered today.  I love reading all your messages...when I can keep up, that is.  Smile

Perhaps it's been mentioned before but does anyone have an address for the hotal Beth Twitty is staying at?  I'd love to send her a card and perhaps others might want to send something as well.  She may not have time to read our messages but at least she'll know that we're thinking of her and her family at this time.

You guys are great.  I look forward to reading more.  Adding my prayers and thoughts to many others for the Holloway family.

Probably not the best way to contact them though. Mail from here to there is not speedy.

#2. As someone who is around teens a lot...A 16-17 year old and a 13-14 year old is certainly not a rare occurence in the southern United States. I've seen a lot of 13 year old girls act like they are going on 20 and a lot of 17 year old boys who act like they are 13. Kudos to the mother for breaking it off because it would seem too great an age discrepancy giving Joran's free styling ways, but it is not so outside of the norm that it should be the subject of speculation for anything other than what it appears to be on the surface.  Not that I would want to suggest that anyone curb speculation on this forum in any way...How foolish would that be....LOL...

http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/journals/2903097.html

No 13 year old can legally have sex in the United States.

In fact, in Alabama, if a 17 year old were to have sex with a 12 year old, he can be sentenced to death.

If I had a 13 year old daughter who was taken advantage of by the likes of JVDS, I would be going with the justifiable homicide defense.

But I thought most people in Alabama were married and pregnant by 13...

It's a joke!!  Laughing

I don't know what to think of what Dan posted on his site.  I do think it's possible they are giving Joran a lie detector test.  Given the pressure from the US and from Aruba to solve this case fast...it makes sense they may have consented to use a lie detector as an investigative tool...especially if they can't break through the differing stories via interrogations.

I'd like to know which of the boys changed their story?  That's very important...this version suggests it's Joran's revised story...not the brothers.

And, the Twittys filing suit makes total sense.  Since they are somewhat concerned there's a cover-up here and there may be corruption or some such thing...their suit will help them see exactly what evidence and investigative choices were made.[/quote

I hope they did not give JVDS a polygraph.  I see this as going outside the law/norm in Aruba.  If true, could this possibly lead to his case being thrown out of court?  That is if he is ever charged?

ALTHOUGH WE HAVE NO BASIS FOR BELEIVING THAT JORAN HAS HAD SEX WITH A MINOR HERE IS THE AGE OF CONSENT:
The age of consent in the Netherlands is 16, but it probably is going to be raised to 18 in the next few months.  MAXIMUN PUNISHMENT IS 12 YEARS

AND WHERE DOES IT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SEXUAL RELATIONS.

Joran did date an eastern asian girl who could not have been any older than 13, a 7th grader, during the 2004/2005 school year, and their relationship was apparently on the down-low, being inappropriate, apparently, in Aruba, the Netherlands, or pretty much anywhere else in the civilized western world. Her mother discovered the relationship early in March and forced them to break up.

Are we going to have a Bill Clinton-like discussion of what the meaning of is, is, or how you define 'sexual relations'?   Rolling Eyes

"AND WHERE DOES IT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SEXUAL RELATIONS".

That was my point exactly Iquitos. I could not find anything mentioned beyond "romantic involvement" and speculation as in "why else would the mother have broken it up". But again..no facts just speculation about any kind of sexual relationship.

Hi Nancy
I just peeked in this evening and saw your question. I have been keeping track of this.  First all 3 boys said they took NH back to the HI. Then after they were questioned separately the brothers changed their story and said that they dropped JVS and NH at the Marriot.  At the same time JVS said that they dropped him home first and continued to the HI with NH.

2 days ago JVS changed his story to match the brothers and now alleges that they dropped him off at the Marriot and then (he left NH sleeping at the beach)  the sleeping part is new today.

Hope this is what you were looking for.  Have a good evening.

Native Lingo -- can you tell us what you've heard today on the other missing persons report and another possible murder (not the partial decapitation) that was discussed earlier today, and if there has been any association with the Holloway case?

I heard that the other missing person is the one they assume is a suicide/attempted suicide case and not related to the NH case.
I know there was an attempted murder of a woman yesterday....A "Lover's" thing....she was pretty critical and I don't know wether she made it or not.....

Yikes; so if Jaron is charged and found guilty of murder (yeah, big assumption at this point), he could be out in his mid 30's??  Shocked

30??? are you kidding???
The maximux is 20yr (but reduced +/- to half due to good behavior... so, max=10)
Since pre-trial counts and he's minor... I could say he's out before the 26th anniversary!

I doubt it's illegal to use it as an investigative tool.  It's not legal in court in many states here, but it's used routinely as an investigative tool.  Most good defense attorneys do insist on certain guidelines when they are used with clients.

I did hear an Aruban anaylst say it's illegal to use, not sure if he meant in court, or at all.

I'm beginning to wonder about the crime rate in Aruba.  Does Aruba report on crimes reported, or crimes solved?
