Scott, I wasn't offended and understood, logically, what you were getting at.  People always get so sensitive about the question of sexual promiscuity, when in fact it's not to point fingers at the victim, but rather to ascertain the impression of the victim by the suspect.  The answer might lend more to guilt than innocence....

I was just watching Fox News, they said that the DJ was being held on suspicion on two counts of murder and 1 count of kidnapping leading to murder, the same as the other three.

Does this mean the Aruba Authorities have some evidence  that Natalies not alive? Sad

I only took this to mean that they have changed his (Steve's) "status" from witness to suspicion, which is what the other boys are being held on as well.

By the way, I intro'd myself earlier today, but for those of you on here only at night, hello to all of you as well!

"Four people held in the case -- none of whom have been charged." Ever AP story coming and going.

Here is a quote from an earlier report about John and Jones from CNN about the "charges" they were there on suspicion of but not formally accused of:

Jones' attorney, Chris Lejuez, said his client is accused of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and capital kidnapping, or kidnapping resulting in death.

As I stated before you cannot believe both. She is alive and they are suspected of murder.

26 year old Steve Croes was arraigned today before the judge commissioner who extended his detention for 8 days. Croes was picked up at his house in Casariba, in Santa Cruz. He is suspected of the same matters as the three young people, accessory to murder, accessory to manlaughter (doodslag) or intentional kidnapping (opzettelijke vrijheidsberoving). Croes is DJ on the partyboat de Tattoo.

Taken from a previous post.....notice the word "or" in the next to last sentence.    So they don't know anything yet.

Bill's kids are gonna hate life at 16, 17 & 18.

This cop is also a bit seperated from reality.  This guy couldn't tell the graduates what to do any more than they could tell him what to do.

Women and men for that matter are drugged or misled all the time, no matter their age.

Remember, ANYONE can be a victim of a crime.

That's right..I was drugged at 26..and I am a NURSE..you'd think I would be more cautious...I have worked with the coroners office and medicl examiner here in my county..worked with former miami/dade police detectives..been on alot of cases and alot of calls..it could happen to ANYONE....

According to an Aruba  spokesman on Fox last night, he said they are not obligated to check ID's when asked about Joran gambling in the casinos with him being only 17. Why would they check id's concerning the internet?

According to Aruba-Travelguide.com, they don't normally check ID's.

What is the legal drinking/gambling age?
"The legal age for both drinking and gambling is 18 years. It is not, however, widely enforced. You will not usually be "carded".

I don't see it as a question of goose and gander, but personal preference, taste, values, "culture."

In my personal opinion, nothing about Natalee's behavior, dress, etc have any relevance.

However, that is because it is my opinion that no woman, regardless of any of those factors, deserves to be assaulted, abducted or be on the receiving end of any violent or non consensual act.

In some cultures, that's a pretty controversial view.

maybe Joran is a master manipulator and thinks the suicide attempt will make others feel sympathy for him and his family. If he is so upset, can't he see how upset her family is. Did his family not teach him compassion? I would be crying if I hurt an animal and my 23 year old still can't watch Bambi without crying?

I think he is going to use the attempt to plead insanity when convicted or to get a sentence at a mental institution.

there is not a basis for concluding that Joran attempted suicide.  the report say one of them did.  How can he "see" how the parents are suffering as we do?  You think he has FOX?  He is locked up and incommunicado except for his lwyers, his mother's visits and his interviewers.

Tell Scared Monkeys cuz they have Joran on suicide watch on the main page.

I don't think Joran tried to commit suicide because of his distraught parents or what is being reported.  I think it's because he has a guilty conscience and has woven a huge web of lies.  I think it is because his amigos are no longer around and he doesn't know what the hell is going on.  He is a 17 year old kid sitting in jail, a kid--according to the press--who has a history of anger problems and who has been extremely emotional while in jail.  He is at his ropes end, or so to say.  He also knows enough about the law to probably try to manipulate it in his favor as much as possible.

Okay, all I was doing was answering the question that "yes, they are being detained on suspicion of those crimes".  Suspicion does not mean that it actually took place, but that they suspect that it did.  I don't believe strongly either way and I'm not sure what the JM in Aruba actually believes.

Have a question -- & I may have missed this from earlier posts - forgive me if I did -- but was there any more word on the alleged car chase on Friday - 2 males, 3 females associated with a news group following a car believed to either hold NH or lead to possible drop site?

In the home of car chases, so it has been said, Southern California, the Los Angeles stations seen on the "bugs"...KTLA5, KTTV11...didn't carry the subsequent activity.

It certainly caught my attention when I saw/heard it.

From what i've read, there might be a fairly low regard reporting standards...

(if there isn't another complicating factor to understand this matter)

edit: woops...it's never been spoken about again....apocryphal?...it's in the column of "you heard it..." What's your source?

Of this fact I am aware (Texas having been it's own country.)  And yes, I been to Texas plenty.  There's a vast difference in terrain you know and terrain you don't know.  I have lived in the Caribbean, and been to Aruba for work as well as Dallas, for work. Different places.
