I know foster care is far from perfect.

But to put this child with the father's family . . . JMO I think is criminal.

The amount of trust put in CPS to watch over her is, IMO, misplaced.

Prayers for this poor child.

Mother Charged After Daughter Found Dead in Fridge
December 3, 2014

Amber Keyes is being held Wednesday on a charge of injury to a child-serious bodily injury, connected to death of her daughter, Ayahna Comb.

Ayahna weighed 14 pounds when some children looking for food found her body in Keyes' refrigerator in June. An autopsy determined Ayahna, who had cerebral palsy, died of malnutrition and dehydration.

The 35-year-old Keyes says she found Ayahna unresponsive on Jan. 29 but couldn't revive her, so she wrapped the girl in a blanket and stashed her in the fridge.

Her attorney, Joseph Owmby, said he plans to further investigate the circumstances of the girl's death.

Keyes is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 8.

It's just my opinion, but any money or goods Amber Keyes received from the state or feds for care of Ayahna after her demise should result in charges that could include fraud and etc.  This would include rent subsidies, medical supplies, food, monthly checks etc.  I have a feeling she hid Ayahna's body because to do otherwise would have shown the neglect and also the bennies would have been cut.  Amber Keyes isn't being charged with killing her daughter, but with neglect.  There must be a reason for this.  How about then, charging her with the other applicable things?  Sort of like how they got Al Capone on tax evasion...  Whatever works.  JMHO

An attorney for Keyes didn't immediately comment. Bond is set at $50,000.

Mother who left daughter in the refrigerator sentenced to 40 years
Friday, August 5, 2016

The mother whose 9-year-old daughter's emaciated body was found in the family's refrigerator was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Friday.
Amber Keyes was in court Friday for the sentencing. Keyes pleaded guilty in December to injury to a child by omission, according to court officials.

Keyes' 9-year-old-daughter, Ayahna Comb, went missing in the summer of 2014, prompting neighbors to call police.
Ayahna, who had cerebral palsy, was found in the crisper drawer of the family's refrigerator. Police said the girl had been dead for about six months and was wrapped in blankets.
Keyes admitted to police in 2014 that she was unable to resuscitate her daughter with CPR and put her in the refrigerator instead of telling authorities that her daughter died.
