Amish to build garage for pair who returned girls

RICHVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — An Amish community is building a new garage for the northern New York couple who returned two kidnapped Amish girls to their home.
Jeffrey and Pamela Stinson tell the Watertown Daily Times (http://bit.ly/1l8vUYL ) that the garage at their home in St. Lawrence County recently burned down while they were on vacation in Maine.
The family of the abducted girls plans to build the Stinsons a new garage later this week.

New York woman admits to helping boyfriend kidnap and sexually abuse two Amish girls

A woman accused of helping her boyfriend abduct, drug and film the sexual abuse of two Amish girls pleaded guilty on Thursday to child pornography charges.
Nicole Vaisey, 25, was charged last year along with then-boyfriend Stephen Howells, 39, over the sexual abuse and taping of the two Amish girls and several other children.
 

Asking the girls to pet a puppy, Howells then forced them into their car as the older girl screamed, taking them back to the couple's home where they were handcuffed, drugged and filmed, police said, before being returned to their home the next day.
Howells pleaded guilty last week to 21 charges. Vaisey's sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 25.
Prosecutors filed a motion this week intended to prohibit Vaisey from presenting a defense that she only acted under a 'master/slave' contract with Howells, while acknowledging that could be raised as a mitigating factor at sentencing.
 
'She is herself a victim,' defense attorney Bradford Riendeau said. She decided to plead guilty at a pretrial conference Thursday where the mother of one child victim was in court, he said.
Vaisey mainly videotaped Howells sexually abusing the children, who were drugged, Riendeau said. 'I think his goal was to make them unaware,' he said.
 
Howells, himself a father of three children, pleaded guilty to kidnapping and sexually exploiting four other children, ranging in ages from 5 to 11.
Between December 2012 and August 2013, Howells sedated his victims with drugs and then sexually abused them while filming the abuse.
In his plea, Howells claimed he conspired with Vaisey to abduct the children and make child pornography, alleging that they sometimes switched roles while doing so.
Howells has also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to produce child pornography, producing child pornography and possession of child pornography.
