5/29 Joran calls dad to be picked up at McDonalds at 11pm
Then Joran sneaks out of house sometime after midnight and went to Carlos and Charlies
Father had no knowledge

Mother in Holland

Kerin,
Seriously. Why would a teacher leave the country before the school year was up, before exams, before her in-service day? You're a teacher. Would you leave school before it ended for the year? Doesn't make sense. I think she was still in Aruba.

No actually those are some of the most important days of the school year. Finals, grades to be finalized. I would probably lose my job if I didn't go in.  Very Happy But we don't know WHY she wasn't there (if true). Was there an emergency in Holland? A death? Need to know!!

I sure as heck would!  With all due respect there is a MISSING GIRL out there and ANY information HELPS!

On this board?

Hey, absolut!
Arubagirl and Nativelingo and americaninaruba all give good info. As do the mnt. brook folks.

It's just the rest of us that have no clue what we're saying.

I think the only person we know on here by name is Dash. (withholding real name)

Overall I think the story is largely BS, assuming he wrote it.  (Keep in mind that I've chosen a side in this situation).  Too easy to concoct something five days afterwards.

Also, there's essentially the same time gap here, even with the story as told.

Potentially, the story builds up an "accident" scenario, with details of NH's extreme inebriation.

But there's one factual issue that's jumping out at me.  I recall that it was asserted that NH went snorkeling at some point in the day, then was at the Soul Beach Music Festival on 5/29, an event which ran from 7:00 - 11:00 PM.  An official statement from C&C's indicates that a "group of 40 Americans" arrived at the restaurant at 11:30 PM (http://carlosncharliesaruba.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2&sid=25c2a13dde895fa701cb821d1f6dc8e2), which fits in neatly with the end time of the concert.  Meanwhile, you've got Joran playing a Texas Hold 'Em Tournament AND subsequently playing blackjack at a casino on Sunday night, at which point he meets up with an already slightly inebriated NH, which suggests that she had been there for a while (she also supposedly lost $360 playing, although that could be an aggregate for the trip).

To sum up - nail down the time the poker tournament (independently verifiable) occurred, and tack on the alleged subsequent blackjack playing (which had to have ended before 10 PM).  Then, try to nail down NH's departure time for the concert, and time spent there.  If you've got "blackjack time" occurring at a time when NH is at the concert, then the story is busted - either Deepak is part of the conspiracy to lie, or he is an unwitting repeater of Joran's lie.

The father seems polite on there.

He wants to look softer than what he is protrayed. Greta said he kept wringing his hands at the meeting. His wife was tearful and feels he is innocent. Father didn't say that according to Greta on OReilly. If they were innocent, there stories would match and not keep changing.

I would be remiss to say this, but a teenager sneaking out is not uncommon.

I may have done it once or twice, and I get the feeling that Joran probably got very good at it.

Shellbell, I totally agree - BHT did NOT look good leaving the VDS's.  Emotionally drained or a change in mother's intuition?  Hoping for the former...

Mr. VDS seemed quite soft spoken and did not have to invite them in. Maybe none of the parents are bad guys?  VDS parents seemed pretty civil in all the footage.

I've visited the netherlands and worked with folks there - there's a reserved politeness that americans might take as arrogance but is really just good manners in their culture. And it must be hard for them since all parents believe the best of their kids to sit with the woman who is all over tv pointing the finger at their kid.

not judging who did what but it's the first genuine view we've had of the VDS parents and it sure doesn't match the speculation that's been floating around.
