Tampa police launch search for missing woman

http://www.wfla.com/story/28116120/tampa-police-launch-search-for-missing-woman

Apryl Foster, 33, was last seen in Ybor City, where she met friends on Wednesday night. The last communication from her cell phone was at 2:19 a.m. Thursday morning, Police Chief Jane Castor said.

Quote
"It's very suspicious," Castor said about Foster's disappearance.

Castor held a news conference Monday with Foster's parents, who drove to Tampa from Texas to search for their daughter.

"I've never not talked to her for a day," her mother Peggy Beman said.

Castor described Foster, who works at Tampa restaurant Ulele, as very reliable and in regular contact with her family. She was scheduled to work on Thursday.

According to TPD, soon after midnight Thursday Foster left the bar she was at with a man she just met. They went to a karaoke bar but came back soon. When they left the bar the second time, Foster went east on 7th Avenue, and the man walked the opposite direction, according to TPD.

TPD detectives have searched both on the ground and by air for Foster, flying her route home by helicopter to see if she had gotten into an accident.

A Hillsborough deputy was at Foster's home Friday but he didn't find anything suspicious.

Detectives interviewed her friends, the man she left the bar with, her boyfriend and her estranged husband. Everybody has been cooperative. Detectives continue to investigate.

The car of Apryl Foster, the Brandon woman who vanished Feb. 12, was found submerged in a lake Sunday afternoon, police said.

A female was found inside the car, but Tampa police haven't identified the woman.

According to Tampa police, the clothing of the victim matches what Foster, 33, was wearing when she disappeared.

The medical examiner will identify the victim found in the car. The car was found in a small lake near Open Field Loop and Rain Dance Place, not far from Foster's home, police said.

Deputies said the adult female found inside the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo is "tentatively identified as Apryl Foster," a report states. Preliminary information doesn't indicate any foul play, deputies said. "However, keep in mind the investigation is still early and ongoing."
