I wish I could afford a cell phone that would take the quality photos like those inside the van with the "Hunters" with Freddie in the back seat.  I wonder who these kids do afford them.  The phone itself that I have seen are at least $200 plus the monthly service.

As soon as I finish this Diet Coke, I am going to bed also.  It's been a long day.  We had a nice visit with our friend (and her family, and other friends), who has finally finished re-doing her 165-year-old house.

Yes heat was oppressive again today, too.  No SB, Spooky, AZLady, CBB tonight either??

I wonder how many more statements are out there that we have not yet read?  Are these being leaked because the prosecution has no plans to use them for anything at all?  Have to wonder.

Seems it was decided from the first this was not going to be investigated nor prosecuted no matter what and if that is so, they will continue to pay for that decision as long as we can boycott.  Sick little island game.   Sad

6/9 statements match up pretty well with the Deepak e-mails.

Nice guy that Deepak is, eh? How about this quote from his 6/7 e-mail...

"I am willing to ID the guard. We told the police about the guard so i think that helped the police a lot."

Yes, but bear in mind that Paulus was the author of the Deepak letters.

I'm still catching up.  I have only begun Jordan's statement but have noticed some things:

1.  Joran Andreas Petrus van der Sloot
     Paulus van der Sloot

Both father and son have names that start with P and end with us (Pus).

2.  I thought his brothers were with his mama.

3.  "I am not sure about the time because I never wear a watch."

Don't Aruban cell phones have the time on them and didn't he just make a call?

Even though they said one guard, I wonder where ALE got two?  Because they worked a shift together normally?

Deepak often goes into almost forensic detail in his statements.  Odd that, like the number for the volume on the radio in his car, his speed, things I would not think most people would remember but could easily make up.

Surprising Development In Natalee Holloway Case
Information gathered in reporting on the Natalee Holloway disappearance suggests there was actually another male who claims to have spent the night, or "crashed" at the apartment of Joran Van der Sloot on the night of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. As Joran's one room, one bath apartment is set off from the family home, it was suggested this was not an unusual development among some of his closest friends.

Preliminary information suggests he had planned to go out with Joran and possibly some other friends that evening, but the plans fell through. He is said to have been interrogated by the authorities in the investigation, but presently, there is no information given which suggests he is linked to any potential crime.

According to a source, he has on at least one occasion claimed that Joran Van der Sloot returned home late that evening after he was already sleeping. During a brief interaction, it is said that Joran told him he met an attractive American girl that evening and also indicated in teenage vernacular that no actual sexual activity had been involved.

It is unclear what statements, if any, the boy has made to authorities in this regard.

It is also said that he received a call from Joran Van der Sloot the next day while Joran was playing tennis after school had ended. It's claimed that that is the first Joran had heard of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway and called his friend as he was unsure of what to do.

This initial report, which conflicts with some other reports on the case, is unconfirmed through additional sources at this time.

As they say ... developing.

Tyler, Your early observations tonight are correct, Posner must be getting old to let this happen to call attention to his online gambling and the porn on this island.  Time was when he would never have allowed things to get out of hand like this and shine the light of scrutiny on his operation.

Now the whole world is looking in disgust.  While not illegal in Aruba, certainly not very nice things are happening.  He is the biggest fish in the pond and did nothing.  Over the hill.   Confused

Excellent catch Bearly. Many people, including me, use their cell as a watch.

4.  "Elaine has a mobile phone, but her name is under the nickname "Fishy" in the memory of my mobile phone."

Sounds like he may have given her this nickname--I don't even want to go there--sounds like he didn't have to drop her off at the hotel for being uncooperative.  Another VDS dating tip--it's not necessary to know their last name (or even their first), just give them a nickname that reminds you of them.

5.  "I have to say that I also called Flor and asked if she wanted to come to Carlos & Charlies. She answered that she wasn't allowed to go from her dad. Flor is 16 years old. "

Good call, Dad.  Joran inviting a 16 year old to a bar, does he ever do anything legal?

6.  "I hadn't asked my father for permission because he would most likely refuse and usually I ask permission from my mother. "

I thought he said if she was there, this never would have happened.  This looks like mom is the more permissive of the two.

If I recall that was written by Dan Riel, probably out of whole cloth.

THANKS, KatGram,

That is sort of what I remembered.  Hummm. . . wonder if Melody was the only source for that information?  Sounds sort of official and I know Dan CLAIMED to always verify with more than one. . . .

And yet Freddie is not a suspect, merely questioned?  Odd he would be spending the night when he lives nearby as you said.  WHY was he spending the night especially with Joran going out and leaving him there alone?

Quote from: "klaasend"
Quote from: "Lala'sMom"
I drove back down at a calm speed. After I had passed the hills I picked up the speed until I drove seventy to eighty kilometers an hour. At the section where there was no street lighting, Joran told me that the girl had fallen asleep. I quickly turned around and saw that she was really sleeping. I asked Joran in dutch how that was possible. I told Joran to wake up the girl to ask her where she was saying in order for me to drop her off. After I asked Joran where she was staying, about one to two minutes had passed before Joran told me that she was staying at the "Holiday Inn" hotel. Just to be sure, I repeated "Holiday Inn". Satish also asked Joran: "Holiday Inn"! I then accelerated until I hit ninety kilometers an hour. The exhaust of my car makes a lot of noise. The faster I drive the noisier it becomes. I immediately turned into the first road that leads to the "Holiday Inn".

Do I detect a note of panic in Deepak here?

Did she die in the car?  Was Deepak panicked because she was dead?  Did they drop Joran and a dead Natalee off somewhere until Joran could hide the body?

or....the drug has kicked in "lets go"
