Missing boy was former HPD officers son

MyFoxHouston -
He's described as a shy and very reserved teenager who's gone through quite a bit in the last couple of years. But now Rudy Farias the fourth has vanished off the face of the earth.

"something is telling me that something is not right," says Janie Farias, mother of missing boy.

Due to the investigation, his mother can not show her face during the interview but tells us the timid boy was last seen walking his dog down this road in East Harris County. 10 days later, flyers such as this one are posted all over the area.

Farias adds, "it's been way too long, it's time to get my baby's picture out there."

The boys case has generated much attention, for it's connection to the police officer who committed suicide at HPD headquarters on August 19. Rodolfo Farias, a 21 year veteran who was being investigated in a ticket rigging fraud, was the missing boy's father.

"Somebody knows something and someone saw him walking down the street that night," says Brenda Paradise, a private investigator.

Brenda Paradise has now been hired after Texas Equusearch found Rudy's inhaler in the empty field where the boy usually brings his dogs. But during our interview she revealed the 17 year old was set to testify as a witness in an important criminal case

Paradise tells us, "it was to take place in the next two or so weeks . And there is a potential that this might be related to that something that we are looking at."

Rudy's mom tells us her son's life was facing many hardship. First he lost his brother in a motor vehicle accident and then his dad committed suicide.

I don't know if this has anything to do with Rudy the fourth's disappearance, but here is an article to give some background on his Dad's workplace problem and suicide:

Texas cop facing ticket-rigging allegations commits suicide
August 21, 2014

HOUSTON -- A police officer facing criminal allegations as part of a Houston Police Department internal affairs investigation committed suicide Tuesday, reports CBS affiliate KHOU.

Rudolph Farias, 51, was a 21-year veteran of the force.

Multiple sources confirmed to KHOU that Farias was relieved of duty earlier Tuesday. He was one of four HPD officers dismissed and ordered to turn in their badges amid a ticket-rigging investigation.

A KHOU investigation of speeding tickets written by the Houston Police Traffic Enforcement Unit reveals several dozen cases in which officers were listed in two places at once. That includes Farias, the station reports.

For example, he is listed on two tickets along the Katy Freeway one early February morning. At 12:29 a.m., he is shown as a witnessing officer near the Westcott Street exit. But also at 12:29 a.m, the same officer is listed as writing a ticket to another citizen near Gessner Road.

That's seven miles away.

KHOU reports that another set of questionable tickets was issued late at night in May along the Katy Freeway. Records show Farias was supposedly at Westcott Street witnessing a speeder. But, records show, he was also writing up a citizen for speeding nine miles away at the same exact time.

Law enforcement sources toldKHOU the motivation for the alleged ticket-rigging was payment for court overtime. Witnessing officers are subpoenaed and must appear ready to testify.

Records show Farias made $158,000 in overtime over the past three years.

It's unclear how much of that amount was linked to the questionable tickets.
