Teen sought in Amber alert may have been seen in Randolph County
Vehicle linked to case found in Grayson County

UPDATED 2:24 PM EDT Jun 27, 2015

Hayleigh Wilson and Ben ShookTBI

GRAYSON COUNTY, Va. —A teenager whose disappearance prompted an Amber alert in Tennessee may have been seen in the Piedmont Triad.
Officials with the Archdale Police Department said they received a call about Hayleigh Cheyenne Wilson, 14, who was the subject of an Amber alert in Tennessee on Monday.

The witness said Hayleigh was spotted at the Pioneer Family Restaurant on North Main Street. By the time officers arrived, the girl had left.

The witness said the girl was accompanied by an older man and an older woman.

A sport utility vehicle linked to the Amber alert was found abandoned in Grayson County.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation officials believe Hayleigh is with Benjamin Shook, 41. The vehicle the two were believed to be in, a maroon Ford Explorer, was found about 9:30 p.m. Thursday off Fairwood Road near the Appalachian Trail, WSLS reported.

Grayson County deputies believe Shook and Wilson abandoned the SUV Tuesday and caught a ride to the Sugar Grove area of Smyth County.

Multiple law enforcement agencies searched the area Thursday night into early Friday morning.

TBI officials also said Hayleigh was spotted early Tuesday morning at a Walmart in Marion, North Carolina, which is about 40 miles east of Asheville.

Hayleigh was described as  5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds. She has hazel eyes and black hair.

Shook was described as  6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing about 175 pounds. He has blue eyes, brown hair and multiple tattoos.

Shook is also wanted on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender in Georgia, TBI officials said.

Anyone who has seen Hayleigh Wilson of Ben Shook is asked to call their local law enforcement or the TBI at 800-TBI-FIND.

Police say 14-year-old Hayleigh Wilson and 41-year-old Benjamin Shook were located by the U.S. Marshal Service in Smyth County Tuesday morning.

The teen went missing from her home back in June. Local, state and federal officers helped in the search which spanned over several counties in Southwest Virginia – on the ground and in the air.
