BREAKING NEWS RECALL ALERT – Dingo Dog Chews Contaminated With Amantadine


The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced the recall of certain lots of Dingo brand dog chews. It is believed the chews may contain amantadine.
 
Amantadine is an antiviral human drug not approved for use in animal food, The FDA says.
 

The product is Dingo Chip Twists “Chicken in the Middle” in:
 
6 count bag with a net weight of 3.9oz
 
UPC: 615650300600
 
Best by Date 5/16/2017
 
16 count bag with a net weight 9.59oz
 
UPC: 615650990429
 
Best by Date 12/27/2015 & 5/16/2017
 
Label reads: United Pet Group, Inc., Cincinnati, OH. Product is made in China.
 
It is believed more than 37,800 bags have been distributed in the following states:

Since the FDA has labeled this a “Class III” recall, the company does not have to issue a public statement or alert the public of the recall:
 
“Class III recall: a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences.” (FDA.gov)
 
However, in our minds, it’s better safe than sorry, which is why we are alerting you on this recall.
