Autopsy to be performed by Hamilton County coroner
UPDATED 11:45 PM EST Dec 19, 2015

CINCINNATI —Family members of a missing man from Fort Thomas are mourning his death, just days before Christmas.

The body of Chad Smith, 36, was found along the Ohio River nearly a week after he went missing.

Watch the story

The search crews included police, community members and Smith's own friends and family.

Now, family members feel a sense of closure, but also a lot of pain as they remember a man known for his creative talent.

"When you have this happen five days prior to Christmas, it's just total devastation to a family," David Rader, the director of Texas Equusearch's Ohio Chapter, said.

Rader and Equusearch organized search crews to find Smith.
