The reports earlier today were that the FBI was scaling back from 7 agents in Aruba to 5. One of the two sent back was a child crime expert who was allowed to observe all interrogations while the suspects were at the jail but was no longer allowed to once they were sent to KIA. The reason for that change was not known.

We should remember that the FBI told BTH that they were satisfied with the Aruban approach to the case.

A reporter on Fox did comment that the FBI did not take kindly to not being in charge. They said that the Aruban authorities were telling the FBI (or asking) to check certain things and that the FBI gets irritated when not in the lead.

I thought the Aruban's were doing their own interrogating.  Pardon my ignorance, but what ARE U.S.-style interrogation techniques?  I got no clue...

Remember the photographs from Abu Ghraib?

The people who did that are being prosecuted.  Would the Arubans be doing this?!  Surely not!

Actually, I agree with you.  This kind of behavior is pretty much limited to us - it was just a commentary on "US interrogation techniques".  The people who did it *are* being prosecuted, but the people who *ordered* it are not.  Anyway, it's off-topic.

Brenda, you're right, I can't prove that you posted the names of people with the last names Janssen (last name of the the lead prosecution), because it seems that your post has been edited out.

However, I do know that you did, but I guess everyone will have to choose wether they believe me or not.

Posting names and numbers for public officials is totally fine.  They are the public's employees.

About the exam schedule, the ISA is a totally different style of school that I've been too, as it is an American highschool. Perhaps he was done with the subjects that he had finals in? But I do think that I saw someone confirming that he had been at school.

In short, I have no idea.

Exactly.  And that is the impression I have here.  Once again, I go back to when the Twittys arrived at the VDS home at 3am and they are told that Joran is at the casino (on a school night).  I think daddy let Joran do many things he shouldn't have been doing and I think he helped Joran clean up his messes.  I feel differently about the mother and I'll kick myself in the butt if I'm wrong, but I truly believe that at this point she is trying so hard to believe in her husband and her son, but inside she it being torn apart.  You can just see it in her.  There very well may be more people involved here, but I believe most of them are "after the fact".

IT was approx 1a.m. not 3a.m.  it is a bit different.....

I think there has been a debate about that.  We have been saying all along that it was about 1am, but Mr. Twitty said 3am.  Either way, 1am on a school night in a casino is unbelievable.

Jug places them there, initially at "within 3 hours of getting there."  Jug is quoted as that is about 3 o'clock (in the morning) in response to a direct question from Greta V.

The Twitty's landed on Aruba at 1 am. and were at VDS house at 3 am, the first time.

You have to admit this Joran Van Der Sloot is one cool customer. If we are to believe he killed Natalee. Look at his immediate actions.

1. He shows up at school the next day and brags about having sex with Natalee.

2. He's back at the casino the next night gambling.

3. When the Twittys show up he was willing to talk to them, it was his dad and Deepak that kept saying "don't say anything"

4. He tells his mom that prison isn't so bad, and that when Natalee shows up he's gonna kick her butt in front of Beth because of all the trouble she's gotten him into.

For a 17 yr old that just comitted a murder? This guy is rock solid. Rolling Eyes

Inspector, I have to concur.

On No. 3; could someone tell me when they heard that Deepak also said to JVDS "don't say anything!"

That would have been the first night the Twittys arrived on the island (the night after Natalee disappeared) Deepak and Joran were outside talking the second time the Twittys arrived at the Van Der Sloot residence.

Inspector I remember Twitty stating that he kept hearing Paulus telling his son "not to say anything." I just don't remember hearing that Deepak said that, also.  Anyone else, too?

The stepfather stated he said that. joran was the only one trying to talk

Awk!  that's the way I heard it, but apparently others are quoted as affirming that Deepak said the same (told Joran to shut up).  Twitty, of course, said in the interview that he heard Paulus VDS tell Joran not to speak...as I've said...didn't hear or know that Deepak said that either (assumed that maybe days ago someone had seen/heard differently....I'll let it rest

Now I'll let it rest...I watched the tape of last night's interview with Jug...after the break, Greta asked Jug about Deepak, and Jug stated that he said the same thing..."you don't have to say anything..."....OK...I'm done.

Thank goodness for the video.

nancy_drew, first of all they were people with the last name JANSSEN. Not everyone of them couldn't be Caren Janssen?

And besides, we do not consider it ok to publish home phone numbers of anyone.

We like privacy. It's little cultural quirk that we have.

Okay, this is driving me freakin' NUTS!!!  I'm ready to put on some waders and check out that pond myself.  From there I'd like to go to Venezuela and clear out every brothel in the country.

Whew, I feel better...not really

(Paraphrasing) Your son...honor student, good athlete, getting ready to start college in the US, a bright future to look forward to...so why is he sitting in prison right now?

Anita couldn't hold it together any longer. She snapped, and broke down in tears, no longer capable of masking the intense pain that comes with acknowledging that future for her son will never be.

Jeezz........I wonder why a mother snappes and break down on this!!

Could it be maybe she is in real pain or something? Just a guess....
And it has nothing to do with if she "KNOWS" something!

But could she react like any other mother or human being who is in that same situation like she is??

just a thought...... Cool  Rolling Eyes

I think it would be normal to snap. Her son was to graduate and now already supossed to be in college in the US but instead regardless of him being guilty or or innocent, his life either way is ruined. Just as the same goes for Natalee being found alive or deceased. Her life will never been the same.

It goes through my mind daily, of the fact when she is found what kind of horror she has been through and what repercussions will overshadow the absolute wonderful fact that is she found and going home.

Anderson Cooper (CNN) just had film of BTH learning that PVDS was arrested - Cooper and the reporter said it was a surprise to her - I did not hear enough to tell what BTH said. They are supposed to have "a lot more from Aruba" later this hour.

I disagree, I don't think she knew the truth, not then anyway, maybe not now,  how do you answer that question, how would anyone, anyone would break down if the kid you thought was exceptional and sweet is being accused of heinous things

the reason Greta is such a good journalist is because she is a lawyer, she can cross examine like no one can and lawyers like to deal with facts and are very careful with facts vs rumour or fake but accurate memos

She most certainly is in real pain.  And, if you care to speculate any other reason she would be besides knowing WHY her son is in prison, I'm all ears...

Any discrepancy between these times and times earlier reported may be the result of time zone differences between Alabama and Aruba. Just my theory.

It is not totally unusual to give Senior exams early so that records can be computed--especially if the district uses all grade for rankings and honors.
