I think the focus is squarely on Dad and Joran at this point.  I'm not ruling out Depak is somehow involved...but I think it's very possible there was something said during the TV interview that gave LE reason to get him in...AND, the pro interrogaters are enroute.

I also think Aruba authorities could be feeling a threat from the Texas group and the newly lawyered-up Twitty's. Or, the work of the FBI agents from Birmingham.

They sure don't want someone else to solve this. And, personally I hope they solve it too...for the sake of the island. BUT, the family has elicited all kinds of great help.

Perhaps something the behavioral specialists picked up on from the FBI? I think some evidence came back from Holland.

Cali, I think if it were just to make him talk, they would arrest his mom.  His dad has already been brought in for questioning at least twice.

anyone here heard anything about this LORENZO and how he is involved? and how he possibly has NATALEE?????

new information is unfolding....
I've been asking about Lorenzo for days!  Can't turn up any search info on him.  Begining to wonder if he's for real!

I think he's compelling, too; he just seems shady. I want him to be involved because it seems like if he is Natalee will still be alive. I can't get any info on him either, though.

Did anyone else see on Fox a few minutes ago where SS was recapping the timeline and said that mom VDS couldn't sleep that night (Sunday) because J wasn't home and stayed up waiting for him?  She wasn't even there!  She didn't back until Wednesday!  Where did he come up with that one?  Did I hear that correctly?

I believe you did; think he was crossing that story with Deepak's mother who stated that about her kids.

Ah, ok!  Thanks for the clarification.  That dad does look AWFULLY nervous all the time.  Sweating, etc.  And I thought it was really bizarre last night, during the interview, that he got up to answer the phone!

And also, this has probably already been discussed, but did anyone think it odd that he "couldn't remember if he woke Joran up" for school the next morning?  WTF?  How do you not know?

K

I should have put this is my theory post. This is because he didn't wake him up. Neither were asleep. Also remeber elder VDS had just flown in from Holland 5pm night before. He was already messed up time wise.

off AP wires

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/ARUBA_MISSING_TEEN?SITE=OHRAV&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&SECTION=HOME

Jun 23, 3:14 PM EDT
Aruba Police Arrest Father of Dutch Teen

ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) -- Aruban police on Thursday detained the father of a Dutch teen already in custody in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, the teen's mother said.

"My husband was just picked up by police," Anita van der Sloot, referring to Paul van der Sloot, said in a telephone call to The Associated Press. "I don't know what to think."

Paul van der Sloot is a judicial official on the Dutch Caribbean island.

Anita van der Sloot was about to leave the house for an interview with the AP when she said police came for her husband. She did not have any additional information about the detention.

Mariaine Croes, a spokeswoman for Attorney General Caren Janssen, told CNN: "There is a reasonable suspicion that he knows something and is involved in the disappearance."

Four other people have been detained in connection with Holloway's disappearance May 30. The others in custody are Joran van der Sloot, 17; his friends Deepak Kalpoe, 21, and brother Satish Kalpoe, 18; and Steve Gregory Croes, 26. No one has been charged in the case.

While Anita van der Sloot had been allowed to visit her son occasionally in jail, authorities denied similar access to Paul van der Sloot, saying they believed contact between the two could damage the investigation.

The way this thing is going, she could be next but it could also be a respectful issue that she has not, she's got two other kids at home etc.

I do expect her to brought in for questioning.

Maybe, Videos were reviewed and Forensics are back from both Cars/Home.

I don't think Natalee willingly took any "experimental drugs" that night - it doesnt' make sense.

If she were to do some experimenting - it would have been on front end of trip where she would have time to "straighten up" before going home...not when she was within hours of having to be in full view of the entire group on plane trip home, as well as parents as soon as she got home.....

Even if I am wrong - since when did a kid "experimenting" make them responsible for an a****** like sonny boy raping/killing them?

Also - think about this - if she were strung out on drugs that night - why exactly would sonny boy have to rid himself of her body and have papa come in to help?  he could just have called an ambulance and walked away and "acted innocent" if she were just "wasted"....

her willingly taking drugs as an "experiment" just doesn't fit.

I have to say, I didn't think much of it before, but when I saw the Greta interview with the Van der Sloot's,  I noticed that Palus did not make real eye contact with Greta when answering her questions.  He also gave short answers.   Also, his look was one more like fear than upset.

Now, Mrs Van der Sloot looks like she has been through the ringer and really has no idea what is going on.  I would say she was not kept in the loop of information.

Will be interesting to see where this all goes.

Here in our local newspapers we can put an animal online if it is free.  Maybe that will work?

They say to NEVER advertise a pet for free- as they fear that people take them to labs for terrible animal testing and also for fear of feding large snakes etc..  I am being very serious--

K
Lorenzo van Rijn, rumored to be illegitimate son of PVDS, born prior to his marriage to Anita.  Lives in Aruba.  Senior van Rinj supposedly committed suicide last year or so ago.  Lorenzo supposedly "crazy".  Arubagirl originally posted this as "rumors" she had heard -- all this a number of days ago.  I can't find anything solid about this Lorenzo.

From CNN:

Satish Kalpoe to mom: 'We didn't do anything'
The mother of the Kalpoes said Thursday that one son had admitted he and his brother made up a cover story to protect Joran Van Der Sloot.

Nadira Ramirez told CNN she was permitted to visit son Satish Kalpoe at Aruba's prison within the past week.

Initially, Ramirez said, her sons had told her and police they dropped Holloway off at the Holiday Inn, where she was staying. But Satish Kalpoe told his mother later that was a lie aimed at protecting Van Der Sloot.

In fact, he told his mother, he and his brother had dropped Holloway and Van Der Sloot off at the beach by the Marriott hotel, about a mile from the Holiday Inn.

Ramirez tearfully said her son insisted he and his brother were innocent.

"'We didn't do anything. We will be out from here. Don't cry,'" she said he told her.

"I asked him, 'Satish, are you sure you guys didn't do anything?'" she said.

She said he responded: "'No, mama. We gave that girl and Joran a lift.'

"They don't even know Natalee. They said she didn't even introduce herself to them," she said. "They don't know anything else about that."

Ramirez's account echoes comments made by one of two security guards who were arrested June 5 in connection with the case and released June 13.

The guards, Abraham Jones, 28, and Mickey John, 30, were never charged.

After his release, John said Deepak Kalpoe confided to him while they were in jail together that he had lied to police.

Kacky:

I've been thinking about the forensics too.  Those reports, or most of them should be back.  I'm not sure about the behavioral folks, last we heard, a couple days ago they had been requested.  Not sure if they're there yet...or, if they'll start now.

As far as the FBI goes, I'm rather pessimistic after today's reports.  Fox had a report from their FBI consultant/source who said basically Aruba didn't want to use them...they've taken the agents off the case that were sitting in on interrogations.  But, another report suggested the two Birmingham agents may have been collecting evidence that might really help.  Although this person felt there was corruption and a cover-up.  Who knows....
