I'm talking now about the reaction of my co-workers when they broke the news.

Everybody was like "Wow, they really arrested him. Huh. Who's next?". I've heard rumors that the brothers and Croes are going to be released, but have not heard anything concrete.

And then we all had a chuckle at the thought of a government official sent here by Holland to be arrested.

Arubagirl, Please set me straight on something that came up last night when we were talking about where Deepak S. goes to school, which I believe is Colegio Arubano.  Isn't that your school?  Someone called it a "vocational ed" school, but I thought it was a 6-year high school, one of the better ones on Aruba.    It has a physics and astronomy club so I think the poster must have been wrong about it being a vocational school with only six subjects.

Telling of what?  Are you implying that she is covering up for the son and father and knows what happened?  I really doubt it.  Listening to her pour her heart out to Greta was revealing.  It showed she is oblivious to the reality around her.  They would never have confided in her.  She would have marched into the police and told on them immediately.  That's her reality and it bears no resemblance to the real world.

I fully agree!!!  I don't even think she's an oblivious mother.  This kid has no record, his past appears half way normal, he was loved, got good grades and played sports!  Somehow he snapped.  It does NOT mean he had a bad mother.

I think the mother is somewhat oblivious........she made the remarks that her son does not smoke, gamble drink, etc.....and a few minutes later she made the remark that he is hard to wake up in the morning.    Sheeesh, if I stayed out partying all night I would not be able to get up in the morning either.

You are right on that one mojo it`s says absolutly nothing, the can pick up anybody under dutch law and hold them for 116 days! It has to do with questioning more but then in a legal way. And for a longer  time then somebody is coming in as a witness.

Thanks for the heads up. Her continued statements begin to paint a specific picture, but not of Anita Van Der Sloot. Guess mom was right all along with the whole "What Peter says about Paul...." motto.
