Croes, 26, said he told police he had seen Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers drop Holloway off at the Holiday Inn the night she disappeared, as the three originally told police.

“That was a lie,” Croes told the AP during an interview Wednesday night. “I didn’t even know those guys and they didn’t know me.”

Croes said that while he was at an Internet cafe a few days after Holloway’s disappearance, he heard Deepak Kalpoe talking on a cell phone about how the young men had dropped Holloway off. Croes said the story seemed plausible and he went around repeating it, adding that he had seen them drop her off. Police questioned and then arrested him, Croes said.

“I learned that if you don’t know something, keep your mouth shut,” said Croes. He said has been fired from his disc jockey job on the Tattoo party boat.[/[/b]quote]


Well, duh! Are we supposed to feel sorry for this guy losing his job? He doesn't have the good sense to be embarassed it seems, either. WHat he did was incredibly stupid. HE put himself in this situation, Now Mickey Johns and the other security guard on the other hand, did not. I feel sorry for them.

This is all confusing...too many players....too many stories......too much media inaccuracy............

I feel like this won't hurt Aruban tourism...I feel like most people would still feel safe going there, and now there is the curiosity factor..people will want to go see the places they are seeing on tv..the natural bridge, the lighthouse....etc.

I mean, did you see those girls who were on the news being interviewed as they entered Carlos and Charlies? Knowing what happened to Natalee did not slow them down a bit....they were in full party mode. I've heard some local (to me) high school age kids talking and none of them are afraid to go to Aruba, they insist they would just use the buddy system and not hook up with "strange" boys. I'd still bet money they'd get down there, meet some fellow tourists in their hotel and get a false sense of security and probably still let their guards down more than they think they would.

The lesson here is......what, actually? I guess the lesson here is even a responsible  teen can have the INTENT to not place themselves in bad situations but still somehow make mistakes, or let their guard down for a second...trust the wrong person etc. I worry about when my baby daughter grows up, things will have changed more by that time, and I am already worrying NOW how I can keep her safe...but not letting her travel is not the answer. I even feel sure that Natalee knew to be careful etc....

It may be just ME , but I for one will NEVER go tour Aruba because of their attitude towards this incident.  I also hope all Americans feel the same way.  Nor will I travel to Holland, or probably Belgium just for principle.  When I dont like something, I boycott.  lol, I cant find many places to eat in my small town, but so be it.  That is just my little way of handling things I dont like.  Aruba and the Dutch can go down the drain for all I care. Sorry if this sounds crass, but my money can be spent better in other destinations. B

Will you ever travel to Florida?  Washington DC?  As I stated before we will all be very limited in our travel if we don't go to places that have botched criminal cases.

There's a gazillion other places to travel.  I have already visited several Carribean areas.   They have ticked me off and I wont change me mind, even if they find her.  This has been a fiasco and has been an incredible diversion from other important matters here in the states.  IMHO

And thats why its a great thing we all can give our own opinions.

In reading the transcript of Greta's conversation with Croes, I'm not sure if it is a transcription error or not but Croes states he owns a "sail company" not cell company.

How do we know that for a fact? She DID get in the car with him willingly. She was hardly kidnapped from the bar.

Who knows what happened afterwards, but doesn't sound like when this started, either of them were avoiding each other.

It was, verbatim, an account of Deepak's e-mail.  

If anything, it's added ammunition that all 4 suspects (PVDS included) conspired and corroborated on this story, to exonerate each of them, and plant a seed of reasonable doubt that her death was self-induced or accidental.

As for the erroneous caption below, pay no attention to it.  The other night they identified Dave Holloway as Natalee's STEP-father.

I noticed that, too. In fact, as we watched it I mentioned to BlueKyBOY that what Charles Croes said (about Natalee gambling in the casino, losing her money, and asking Joran to win it back) matched an e-mail that was reportedly written by Deepak and went around a week ago. It certainly gives creedence to the e-mail.

Here's what I think at this point:

Joran and the Kalpoe's need to be left to rot in prison until either Natalee's body is found or she is found alive. No body? Fine...then you guys sit it out and rot.

Daddy? Well you need to lose your law license due to the fact that you helped concot a story and that IS breaking the law and against your professional ethics.

Mom? Well I think you need to go ahead and pursue your "life's amibition" of becoming a Spiritual Leader. Then you could go to prison and maybe help save your son (or get a confession).

Anyone else who is coming forward with BOGUS stories just to distract the case? Deport them if possible. If not, I hope their conscience eats away at them for life.

This is getting crazier by the minute. I will now excuse myself from the forum, jump in the pool to calm my hot head and then I am going to fire off an e-mail to Greta trying to get verification on this C Croes person.

I believe that email did come from Deepak as it's the alibi that he and the VDS's came up with.  I would not be surprised that PVDS told Deepak to send that out to family and friends.  I do NOT believe the email holds the truth...only a coverup for what actually happened.

I was unsure of whether or not the e-mail really came from Deepak until I heard it corroborated by Charles Croes' story. Can someone please explain to me who Charles Croes IS? Is he with the family, the police force, or what? I must have missed the first part of the interview where they identified him and I have no idea what his background info is. Thanks!
