Oh no, I'm so sorry Porter Wagoner passed away due to lung cancer. He was a giant in the industry.

I recently bought a CD .... "kill to get crimson" by Mark Knopfler. He was the head of Dire Straits from years ago. I really like his guitar playing and think he is highly under rated. He belongs with the guitar gods, as well as Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac who has never gotten the attention he deserves. Not to mention David Gilmore of Pink Floyd who is also under rated.

Anyway, this Knopfler CD was reviewed by Rolling Stone and given four stars, which is an excellent rating. If Rolling Stone gives high marks to an artist I like, I automatically purchase it. This CD does not disappoint. It is highly excellent. But of course, if you don't like him, you won't like the CD.

I highly recommend "kill to get crimson."

Another amazing CD by Knopfler is "Golden Heart" which came out around 1996. It is so romantic. I actually went to JC Penney and purchased a slide golden heart and chain for $200.

Love this girl!  I discovered her video "If I Could" by accident.  Bought her CD, now one of my all time favorites.

"Please Be San Antone" is a great one.

Now if only I were in TX so I could see her and her band live.

Talking to myself in this thread too I see.

Oh well.

Another favorite at our house is Taylor Swift.  Love this video!

Won the Horizon Award at the CMAs last week.  It's "the highlight of her senior year."

Something tells me she'll be up on that stage a few more times.....

Strait named artist of the decade
Associated Press
Oct. 30, 2008, 3:31PM

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — George Strait will receive the Academy of Country Music's Artist of the Decade award in recognition of his nearly 25-year career.

Only four other acts have received the distinction: Marty Robbins in 1969, Loretta Lynn in 1979, Alabama in 1988 and Garth Brooks in 1998.

Strait's many hits include Amarillo By Morning, Ocean Front Property, Check Yes or No and I Saw God Today.

The ACM will tape a TV special in honor of Strait at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 6 to air at a later date.

The 44th annual ACM awards will air live on CBS from the MGM Grand on April 5 with Reba McEntire hosting.

Just want to date myself a little more....my mom took us kids to a thrift store way back then, and I bought a Hank Williams greatest hits album.  I had no interest in country music then, but knew every song on that album.
