I thought it was reported that they felt the belt was too old to be Joran's and they passed on even testing it.

Yep - that's what happened... no test - I think they threw the flipping thing away.  No biggie - it's just lost like all the crap they send to Holland for testing.

By the way - howdy Jackie.  Seems like your poor friends are going thru the same hell.  So sorry.  Hopefully things will get resolved shortly.  They are in my prayers.

My recollection is that the belt was dismissed out of hand, without testing because "it was too old" to have been involved in the case, according to ALE/ Jacobs, I think.

That is as I recall it as well.  Further, he literally threw the belt away based on what Art Wood said at the time.  I don't think they have it any more at all.

Friday was the 10th time the hearing has been delayed.  This time cause the judge was ill.

The witness is just plain fishy.  First, you don't incarcerate a witness for two months.  That is just not what we call "protective custody."  Then, the witness wants "more and more money..."  Huh uh...he needs to wait for "more and more money" until Natalee is found or evidence of her is found.  Witnesses are not paid rewards until after the arrest and conviction.  Then, the witness turns in this evidence in April and Beth is the one who can identify the fabric found, but she has not seen it.  This is just plain fishy.

I think they are so anxious to solve this case or claim to have solved this case, they will blame it on the Colombian witness.  Something's fishy about this whole thing.  They might be coercing him into saying he married Natalee and they had a baby and moved to Arkansas.  You never know when there is the Leatherface Renfro.
