OF,

If you want to hear the blues, I recommend the following:

Sun House. Father of the Delta Blues, The Complete 1965 Sessions. This is a link to the Amazon site and you can listen to samples. http://tinyurl.com/2zkuq6

Sun House (1902 - 1988) is famous in his genre although most of us have never heard of him. He is not fancy. It's just him and a guitar. A raw voice. His genre is rather stark for the new listener and his music is not for everyone.

Pay attention to "John the Revelator."

Here is a review.

It is difficult to describe the transformation that took place as this smiling, friendly man hunched over his guitar and launched himself, bodily it seemed, into his music. The blues possessed him like a 'lowdown shaking chill' and the spellbound audience saw the very incarnation of the blues as, head thrown back, he hollered and groaned the disturbing lyrics and flailed the guitar, snapping the strings back against the fingerboard to accentuate the agonized rhythm. Son's music is the center of the blues experience and when he performs it is a corporeal thing, audience and singer become as one.

i came up with a theory the other day, pertaining to how we could stop OBESITY in this country.......?

ok, first we have to set some  T-REX dinosaurs loose in the city, they are predators

Man, needs a predator to get him to exercise

i will put it in my act. Cool

imagine  if you knew there was a T-REX in the parking lots or roaming everywhere

you would want to be slim and trim so you can run FAST Cool

SRV= thumleft

When I think blues I always think of Leadbelly. I even like the Kurt Cobain cover of this song although when he sings the end he sounds like he has been smoking and drinking all night. Ahhhh but LB  is an acquired taste.......

It's a weird video, I'd recommend just listening, but oh........it's worth a listen!

This may be a cross between jazz and blues.

Thanks CBB! My kind of blues. I love Nina Simone.  Cool

I wanted to post Etta James "Jump Into my Fire" but there was only 1 on youtube and the sound buffered every 20 seconds  Sad She's also a cross between blues and jazz and one of my favorites.

Yes, you are absolutely right.  I was watching this again.  Very cool.  I had seen Stevie Ray at Auditorium Shores in Austin and at various venues and he was ALWAYS right on...

Long time with no posts on this thread, but I hope some of you find this. It's worth a listen. The visual on Youtube really sucks, so just turn up the volume and close your eyes. It's R&B and spiritual................heck of a combination!  Wink
