2NJ I have a nic for everyday of the week.  Yesterday was tooths-day, so we get to choose something sweet or choky  (that would draw BT out, if she weren't working today).  Tomorrow is Thirst-Day, so you get beverage of your choice.   drunken

This may prove to be an interesting story.  It certainly is strange.  Two healthy 18-year-olds looking forward to their futures were found floating in the shallow waters of Marquis Basin near Milton, FL.  Zack has been described by relatives as a strong swimmer and very athletic.  He was looking forward to starting his freshman year in college this week.  Amber was like many young, attractive girls and sought out an opportunity in modeling.  She had recently been accepted into a modeling school.

According to friends and relatives these kids were not lovers, but very close friends.  So the Romeo/Juliet scenario does not seem to be likely.  I suppose it is possible that one could have fallen in the water and the other attempted a rescue, but that doesn’t make a lot of sense either.  Time will tell……

Autopsy results show no signs of trauma in the deaths of two Santa Rosa County teenagers.

18 year olds Amber McCranie and Zackery McCurley were found floating in the Marquis Basin off the coast of Milton Sunday.

Medical examiners will turn to toxicology reports for information. Results could take up to eight weeks.

Her myspace site is very interresting.  Just started reading through it.  She looks like she may have been troubled:

Well, her myspace definitely looks messed up!  Man, these young, raw brains can get so twisted.

Spent some time reading comments on both myspace & agree this is mighty strange.  Then went on to read news about it and read that they were found in 3 feet of water at the end of the pier....

Researchers: Moose Gas Hurting Environment

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

Researchers in Norway claim a grown moose can produce 2,100 kilos of methane a year, equivalent to the amount of CO2 caused by an 8,077-mile car trip, der Spiegel reported.

Norway’s national animal releases methane through burping and flatulence, as do cows, considered more harmful to the environment than carbon dioxide.

There are estimated to be more than 100,000 moose in Norway

Good Morning, All,

2NJ, I am in the mood to muse but just lack the energy in the heat.

Quote:

Today

Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 102. Heat index values as high as 105. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph.
Tonight

Clear, with a low around 74. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
Thursday

Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 101. Heat index values as high as 105. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph.

---

I think I woke up every fifteen minutes with muscle cramps or something.  Now today I feel like I am in slow motion and it is taking me much longer to do routine.

Art,

Good idea.  We could have one thread not visible to all, just registered users.  Sort of our own hidey hole the way those who quote us have.

That is so strange about that young couple.  I wonder why it takes 8 weeks to get back toxicology reports.  Same in this state.

Maybe they need to do those things federally if it is lack of lab facilities.  If there was foul play involved, the perps could have moved to the other side of the world in 8 weeks.

On CSI they can do them immediately!

Anna,

I'm sorry the heat is still beating down on you.  Hope that you recover soon....and some rain & cooler temps come your way for relief.

We had a soaking rain, yesterday and now the temp is only around 60...I put on a cotton long sleeve shirt and will wear a jacket when I leave for the store shortly.  It's brrrr for August...(and I know you'd love it down your way)

2NJ,
It's 99 here already and if the house is below 75 now I get chills and my teeth chatter and feel awful.

On another subject, speaking of the TV program CSI, I have not watched as much TV as most people, at least not network programming.  So does anybody else find it confusing, watching these old reruns that I do sometimes now, that the guy with red hair is Johnny on one of them, NYPD BLues, maybe, and Horatio on CSI Miami?

Same guy!  Confusing, isn't it!

More horrific news:

UK 'has 5,000 child prostitutes'
Press Association
Wednesday August 22, 2007 6:28 PM

The UK has 5,000 child prostitutes, a report into slavery claims.

And Save The Children's Small Hands Of Slavery claims millions of youngsters are regularly attacked and raped in their lives as child slaves.

The shocking figures were released to coincide with Slavery Remembrance Day, the bicentenary of the trade's abolition.

Bill Bell, Save the Children's head of protection, said: "Child slavery is not a thing of the past. There are still millions of children in both rich and poor countries who are being forced to lead slave-like lives under horrific conditions of humiliation and abuse.

"Currently across the world there are, for example, 1.8 million children trapped in the sex trade, over a million children risking their lives working in mines, and millions more, some as young as six, forced to work up to 15 hour days as domestic workers. These children are treated as commodities, liable to be lent or sold to other owners without warning.

"World leaders and international donors must act with urgency to address child slavery and put in place the laws and resources needed to eradicate these terrible practices."

The report states that 1.2 million children and babies are trafficked every year, including into Western Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean, and the number is increasing.

Gangs involved in child and people trafficking make an estimated profit of 32 billion dollars (£16 billion) per year, the charity said.

Approximately 1.8 million children are being abused through prostitution, child pornography and sex tourism - and 75% of the UK's child prostitutes are girls.

The report states that youngsters often lose their childhood by being sold into adult relationships. The report states: "Child marriage, which often includes mail order and internet brides, is one of the most widespread - yet hidden - forms of slavery. Girls as young as four are forced to live and have sex with their husband, and are often kept trapped indoors. Girls under 15 are five times more likely to die during pregnancy and childbirth than women over 20. In Afghanistan more than half of all girls are married before they are 16."

What is going on with our world today???  I don't think it is just better reporting and that we are more aware, I think it is actually more crime and immorality.
