Constantly trying to put a guilt trip on people that drifted off topic in a particular thread is definitely not the way to mend fences. It is a form of manipulation and it is quickly growing old. If anyone here really felt that strongly about this subject matter, why in the world would they contribute to the off-topic banter in the old LCD? If management felt so strongly about this issue, then why did it take over two years to make the change? The Monkey Lounge has always been a part of this forum as far as I know. Why wasn’t more of an effort made to make good use of it before it reached this point?
The change is probably a good thing and people should be encouraged to make good use of the various topics,
but beating people over the head about it at this late date is not a winning approach.
I'm done with this topic........
I'm not done with this topic....
You want to talk about beating people over the head how about going to another forum and starting a thread called "How much do we hate scared monkeys" and post a bunch of nasty posts. How about that!!!!

Okay, that clearly insinuates that I have done such a thing and that is far from the truth. This just gets deeper and deeper.

Parents: Airplane Crew Kept 1lb Preemie Alive Using Drinking Straw, CPR
Monday, August 27, 2007
A family is crediting an airline cabin crew for saving the life of their tiny premature baby after the crew delivered him and kept him alive at 30,000-feet using a drinking straw and CPR, SkyNews has reported.
Little Alfie was born when his 25-weeks-pregnant mother Nicola Delemere suddenly went into labor on a First Choice Airways flight from Manchester, U.K. to Crete, Greece.
Flight supervisor Carol Miller supported Delemere, 31, as the little boy was born weighing just 1 pound, 1 ounce as the plane passed over Germany.
Then Miller cleared Alfie's lungs with a drinking straw before carrying out mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and heart massage for a half-hour as the pilot diverted for an emergency landing at a London airport.
Alfie was taken to St George's Hospital in London's Tooting section for specialist care before being transferred to hospital in the family's home town of Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. Alfie was born in April, but just recently left the hospital weighting 5 pounds, 5 ounces

Dunkin' Donuts Dumping Most Trans Fats
Aug 27, 8:07 AM (ET)
By MARK JEWELL
BOSTON (AP) - Dunkin' Donuts, the food-on-the-go chain whose name celebrates a treat that's symbolic of unhealthy eating, is trying to refresh its image by largely eliminating trans fat across its menu.

EASY
- San did not mean to imply it was you as San and I both know it wasn't you who started the thread in question.
I started the thread, and I don't mind if people know that I did. It was on a private site that only a handful of people see, the title was meant facetiously, and it was simply a little thread where people who were frustrated with working through all the changes at SM could vent their frustrations at those changes. There is nothing evil at all on that thread. I don't recall anyone actually expressing any hatred at all for SM.
All the people who have felt frustrations have not posted them on that thread - some have expressed them in other ways. That's why I was hoping we could have a discussion
here
that would not end in anger. As I said yesterday, people feel what they feel. It seemed to me that it would better to acknowledge those feelings here and let people get the assurances they need, than to not talk about it and have people remain worried and frustrated. However, if discussing them here causes so much anger, then maybe it's better that the discussions take place elsewhere. People will find a way to talk about what bothers them and try to come to terms in their own mind with change. The sooner that happens for everyone, the sooner the musings thread will begin to work better for everyone, IMO.

Bottom line is that changes were made to the forum by the owner. I personally feel that it's no longer up for debate but if Red decides otherwise that's up to him, it is HIS forum, his site.
IMO, the changes were necessary out of
respect for any missing person
whether it be Natalee or someone else.

This is a privately owned forum attached to a privately owned blog. We are here only as the guests of the Reds.
It is not a democracy and we don't all have a vote or say. We do not know what they may have in mind in the future.
I don't think this constant disruption is fair to those of us who are trying to adjust and get along and make things work. But I think I am beginning to understand it much better.

I haven't seen the thread, don't want to see the thread. I liked chat, and am sorry to see it go.
BUT! I'm just amazed that anyone is looking for a complaint department. Complaint forums are for
not
getting your money's worth, and I'd ask anyone to evaluate what they have received vs. what they've been given!
Personally, I'm incredibly honored to part of something that the family of a missing person is interested enough in, to make a request toward making it more accessible for them!
We ALL used the LCD thread for O/T discussion, and it wasn't done maliciously or disrespectfully, but we just fell into it as we came to know each other better and when there wasn't news to direct our focus.
How wonderful that we've now been provided a place to do that! This thread can be much like chat, and we've been given the freedom to make it what we want. WE have the responsibility to see that it's a place folks feel easy to be themselves with little more limitation than to respect each other. That shouldn't be just a forum or thread rule, but a life application!
To take criticisms to any place that would position them in view of those who would relish the comments, is an affront to those who have made this worthy endeavor possible, and there has been tremendous effort to offer this to us.
I'm here. I'm staying. I'm thrilled that Scared Monkeys is the kind of place that fosters real interest and progress in cases that need encouragement to reach resolution. The common compassion toward that end has thrown folks together with mutual hearts that knit together family traits. The resulting group, not surprisingly, has supported each other as we've related around the Natalee Holloway case. It has simply evolved to the point that we need to make room for both. AND THAT NEED HAS BEEN MET, with a lot of effort and consideration of us all, and work!
Thank you, Red, and others for being mindful of us as well as of the families that need help.
Let's settle in and enjoy what a gift we have.

Kudos to Klaas for tactfully attempting to change the subject several times.
