BT, I am sorry to hear you have shingles. I pray the pain eases very rapidly.

Monkeys, Thank you all for your kind words, prayers & support. While our time with Savanna was very brief, our memories of how beautiful & perfect she was will last a lifetime.
As a family we have decided to see if we can help some of the other babies in the NICU at the hospital she was born at.
They have an excellent NICU department. The Dr & nurses stood with us as she passed. They cried along with us & prayed along with us. The Drs & nurses who devote their lives to these innocent angels cannot be praised enough.
Please know I am not asking anyone to make donations but if you want to, please email me. I will provide you with the address.
Please continue praying for the babies, Drs & nurses of all NICU units worldwide. From the inside of a NICU you can truly see God at work through the Drs & nurses.
I saw too much anguish on the faces of other parents who had a baby there. I also saw & heard tales of babies being there whose family never came to visit & never called to check on them.
I wish I could post her obituary here but we all know there are too many sickos in this world.

Yap,
I am so very truly sorry for your loss.... i will keep your family in my prayers, it's so hard to know what to say at these times... but just know that we all love you and will be uplifting you to prayers

Please pray for a successful surgery for my sister tomorrow.  She has been having some back problems and a problem with a disc that needs to be corrected surgically.  So, I believe she's having a couple vertebrae fused or maybe something else that I just can't remember.  (We didn't really talk about that aspect of it.)  I know she will be just fine.  God is wrapping his loving arms around her and will hold her until... well, forever just as He does me.  But I can't be there so I worry.

I believe the surgeons are from Mass General.  She seems confident in their plan.

Thank you all.  Your prayers have always helped me and still do.

adding your sister to my prayers.... Mass General has great doctors... (it is where they took ted kennedy, if that is any comfort, so you know they have great docs)  and yes, our Heavenly Father will wrap her in his arms just as he does you...

Peaches, I am praying for your sister. I know that back surgery is really tricky, but am glad to hear she'll be at a really good hospital. Please let us know how she does!

Monkeys,

Please pray for my friend Tim. He's been living with is mother and brother for several years since his properties were foreclosed on and he had decided on going back to school. Now he's graduated and can't find a job where he lives in Texas. Recently, he lost his mother and the estate was in bankruptcy, but somehow he and his brother were able to keep the house. Yesterday his brother died of a heart attack while delivering the last of his papers. Tim is a very intelligent man, but he suffers from depression and other health problems, so I know this is a really hard time for him right now. He's all alone and doesn't really have any friends where he lives. Please lift him up in prayer that he may be able to stay strong despite losing his mother and brother, his only support base, so close together. Please pray that he is able to find his way in this world again. Thanks guys...

Mishy, this hits close to home for me and I got here, read this, because I clicked on the wrong link.  So I figure something brought me here, it was no accident.  I will certainly say a prayer for your friend right after clicking "post".

Thank you so much lilpuma. I don't know what to do for Tim other than pray for him. He is such a thoughtful man. One of his friends was dying of cancer a few years ago, and he took an unpaid leave of absence from his job to go to California to help her fight it. He was ultimately with her when she took her last breath. And one time when I needed help, but wouldn't accept it, he wanted to drive all the way from Texas to help me move and offered to store my stuff for free. He is a very selfless person who really needs a break right now!

I thought of  him again this morning when I cruised through the site looking for my news fix.  I said another prayer.  Funny how your post came up on my screen.  I know the feeling of being alone, not knowing what to do, feeling you've lost everything that matters.  But faith in God means He's always with you and help can sometimes come from unlikely sources.

Amen LilPuma. I well know the feeling too...and came to know that God is with me always, and always will be. He has done for me what I could not do for myself so many times, and I know that He will continue to...Thanks for your prayers sweetie!

My daughter has been working on a story for a local magazine that has tugged at her heart this week.  She has asked us to pray for these people.  Seems they are stranded after the birth of twins and the mother has MRSA and is in very serious condition.  They have had very little help and the company they work for is not helping them either.  The man couldn't deliver his load for them because his wife went into labor.  So please pray for these people...I assured her that we would.

No wonder it tugged at her heart.  Prayers going out for this family and your daughter (and Mom) for bringing it to our attention.

I will be honored to pray for mishy's friend Tim, and for the family that Lala's daughter has written about.  I know how strong this prayer thread is, because I have been on the receiving end, and it it an amazing feeling to know that power.
I would also ask you all to pray for my daughter's friend. She is a student who has no family support, and she is really struggling financially right now. This poor kid is all alone in the world and trying to make a better life for herself by getting a degree, but she has had some financial set backs, and she is very discouraged. I'm trying to help her, and do what I can, but she really needs some prayers. She lost her car today, and now has no transportation in a city with no real mass transit system. Her car was impounded because she could not afford her new car tag. She works 2 jobs, and goes to school, and I feel that she deserves a break. Her rent is late, and she has $10 to her name. We are going to help her get around town until we can get her car out, but she was crying and so scared this morning that I hurt for her. I wish I was in a position to do more, but I'm a single mom with a child in college and two more at home. She's such a good kid despite her circumstances, and I know she would appreciate our prayers. I know that God has the answers for her.

You guys are so amazing! Pdh3, i wish I could help your friend, and I pray that things get easier for her soon.

and Lalas, I am praying for your unspoken request sweetie...

Tonight I have a prayer request for my friend Dirk who lives in Iowa City. He's got 4 small children and a wife and the city and surrounding areas are in a national disaster and are 8 feet under water. I got this email from him last night:

The situation here is changing by the hour. We are hearing rumors that power, gas, and water will be shut off to parts of town at midnight. I was able to get to the store tonight and stock up on water and non perishables, plus lots of ice. But the drive home was very treacherous, as I came upon a major intersection nearest our home was flooding out at that very moment. I barely made it through, and now the road is closed.

We’re going to fill the bathtub so we have water to flush the toilets.

Our home is fine because we sit so high. But we have a ravine behind our house with 200 year old oak trees looming over our house. The ground is so saturated, that trees are simply falling out of the ground by their roots. Our ravine might not remain stable.

All of the neighborhoods below us are being evacuated right now.

The worst thing is waiting to know what will happen next. The experts still can’t predict when the rain will stop and our river will crest, or how high. But the predictions continue to rise.

We’re doing our best to stay calm, keep the four kids distracted, and plan ahead hour by hour.

Around 4 PM I got this one, and haven't heard from him since. Memories of Katrina are clouding my brain...

I'm trying to convince my wife to start packing and plan to evacuate. She's resisting the reality of our situation. All five bridges in town have been closed, as of fifteen minutes ago. We are severely cut off now, with only one way out of town, and it's a mess with traffic. It's the only way in and out of town for the approximately 20,000 University Hospital employees and emergency crews.

It's already worse than in 93, and we have at least two days to go before the river crests.

Epic is the only word to describe this.

Monkeys, please pray for Dirk and his family, and for all of those in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area...all of the surrounding states are also being hit hard. This really sounds dire Sad Thank you monkeys.

Praying for all the requests the monkeys made and are keeping close to their hearts.

Mishy, I am praying for Kirk and his family that they will get through safely.

We never know how truly good we have it until we visit this thread.

Please pray for Mishy's sister also.  She has terrible headaches and things have gotten much worse.  Seems nothing is working. This has been a life changing illness for her.  Please ask God to give this woman some relief...she needs her life back.  Thanks monkeys.
