More good news tonight~Elijah is off all his antibiotics 5 days arly because he has had no sign of infection in days, also they took him off dopamine and his eyes are open. Here are some new pic's of my little Easter miracle that I continue to owe a debt of gratitude to all those wonderful monkeys praying for him!

And some cute lil' monkey outifts I've found

Hey, Island, you probably already know this but my little niece weighed just 1 lb 12 ozs. they are called "micro" preemies, babies between 1 & 3 lbs. Doll clothes just wouldn't work(we tried that!). Do a google search for micro preemie & you will find lots of stores that sell clothing this size including NICU wear. I remember being thrilled the first time Meadow could wear clothes, the little shirt was only 4 in. wide, and her little diapers looked like bandaids! Hugs & kisses for that precious little baby of yours! Monken

Monken, I never knew your neice was so small~how premature was she born (Elijah was born 16 weeks premature). I have found tons of preemie clothes by reading the micro preemie blogs and forums, and they actually told me that Build a Bear clothes fit their little ones (that cracked me up).

The doctors told me today that once he is able to keep up his body temp, feed with a bottle and a few other milestones that they send them home even as small as 4 1 /2 pounds I thought I would be petrified of taking care of such a wee one, but today I gave him a sponge bath, changed his diaper (that was hard because he was so stubborn and wouldn't stay still~plus he peed on me , I took his temperature too under his tiny arm). The nurses and doc's told me he is very feisty and stubborn, hmmm can't imagine where he gets those traits

He also was sleeping on his tummy and had his knees underneath him and took him arms and knees together and schooched himself forward, it was so cute to see such a wee little one moving himself into a more comfortable position.

Prayer Request

Over the weekend a long time family friend, his name is Al, was having severe back pains.  They wound up having to call for ambulance.  He has a Staph infection that they can't find an antibiotic that will fight it.  Today they say his kidneys are not functioning, his heart is barely pumping, and his feet and legs have turned black.  They don't expect him to make it through tomorrow.  I am so upset, he is one of the finest people I have ever met.  He lives and breathes for his grandkids.  Maybe the Lord needs him to come take care of Caylee and Sandra...

Oh JuJu, I will certainly pray for him and his family and I will also pray that the treating doc's are guided by our heavenly father in finding the correct antibiotic to fight this infection off......

UPDATE

Al was holding his own for a couple of days, but now he has pneumonia too.....

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS!

I will continue to keep him and your family in my prayers, My mom almost dies 9 yrs go from double pneumonia, I fired her pulmonologist due to his bedside manner and refusal to even try to talk with us about her condition. The new pulmonologist put her on many different broad spectrum antibiotics and bam, 2 ays later she was out of ICE, and as you have probably read my little micro preemie grandon just got over pneumonia with the use of 4 different broad spectrum antibiotics, so I'd try to see if you can get any information on how aggressively they are treating the pneumonia. PRayers and Hugs for you from my entire family.

Island Monkey......I am so thrilled to hear little Eli is doing so well.

I have more prayer requests.....

My brother-in-law was admitted to the hospital last Wednesday with double pneumonia....he is on oxygen and is not doing well.
His wife, my sister was admitted to hospital Friday with pneumonia, she has other serious medical conditions and she is now on a ventillator and it's not looking good.  She is in critical condtion and the Doc says she is losing ground quickly.  I don't know what I will do if something happens to her.....she is my rock

JuJu - prayers for your sister and BIL - and for your friend Al.   I pray for wisdom for the doctors, too.

Hi Everyone, i'm asking that you continue praying for Tristan & his family. He is the 12 year old that had a tumor removed from his leg. I have since learned that they have received more lab results & this cancer in more invasive than they believed at first. And i really question this doctor's bedside manner as he has told them that this has "probably" already invaded his lungs! They have not tested that yet, so much for giving the family hope! They are now headed to St. Judes. Needless to say, this is not a very happy Easter for this family. We all will be attending church this morning to praise a risen Lord, please pray that it will be God's will to heal Tristan. Monken

Prayers for Tristan and his family, as well as for you, Monken.   I pray he will receive the best care possible at St. Judes, and will be cured of his cancer.

Thank you for your prayers everyone & I have you all on my prayer list as well.
Tristan's appt. is this week at St Judes. They also talked to Memorial Sloan Kettering but St. Judes is closer & MD Anderson said they do not treat his type cancer. We will know so much more this week. Tristan's very first question to his Mom about this was "Am I going to die?" I just want to burst into tears every time I think about that so I try not to!  We just have to let go & let God. Bless you all!

ISLAND MONKEY THIS IS FOR YOU:

Meadow Angel was born at 24 weeks & weighed 1 lb 12 ozs. Her mom's water broke at 22 weeks (we still don't know why!) And she was hopitalized, flat on her back, until Meadow reached 24 weeks. She was then transfered by ambulance to UAB in Birmingham Ala. where Meadow was born 3 days later. She spent 4 months in NICU there & I have to say pictures just do not tell the story. She was the tiniest thing I have ever seen; her head was the size of an apricot! Meadow will be 4 this month & she is truly a miracle baby, no problems whatsoever. That first year was unbelieveable though. I am posting a youtube link of Meadow reciting the Pledge of Allegience & the newspaper article from her 1 year birthday. I hope Meadow's story inspires you as it has me, Hugs Monken

Darla and Monken.....I will be praying for Mom and Tristen.  Island Monkey I pray for Eli daily, I bet you have never thought you would treasure being peed on.  He is so precious.

UPDATE:  AL has made a miraculous recovery, they had only given him a 5% chance of surviving.  In a few short hours he came out from his illness and will be going home soon.  Monkey prayers are amazing.

My BIL may be going home tomorrow.

However, I'm am devastated about my sister.  She was on a ventilator and coded Tuesday.  She is now on life support.  They have her heavily sedated.  There are concerns about her Heart and Kidneys and they are feeding her through the tube but her stomach will no longer digest even the liquids they are giving her.  We are hoping for another miracle but the Docs are not giving us any good news and have told us to prepare ourselves.  I can hardly stand it.
I am so happy to have been called back to work but it is killing me not being there for her.  She needs your prayers. I know I can count on all of you and I am truly blessed to have friends like you guys.

LOL, you are so right JuJu~I could care less if he peed, pooped or threw up on me!

I am thrilled to hear about AL and your job situation...Go JuJu, prayers bring miracles don't they, and I'm going to ask God specifically tonight for your beloved sister. Hang in there and know the monkeys are powerful in prayers and we all know miracles can and do happen.

Everyone with prayer concerns, I am praying for you.

Update on Tristan:
He has been at St Jude's this week, many tests & doctor visits there. So far his lungs & bone scans are clear, so the cancer has not spread. He will have surgery this coming tues. to remove margins around the original area. If everything goes well, he will have a onetime radiation treatment to the area. If not, he will go back for 5 weeks of radiation.
Still, the entire situation is looking better than before. Keep praying everyone, it's working! Love, Monken

I'm so thrilled to hear this news Monken, St.Jude has always been a charity very close to my heart, and I used to work at the Ronald McDonald house there........those kids amazed me with their upbeat attitudes (which St. Jude fosters), and yet they still loved to play little jokes on you and were such sweet innocent children to be enduring everything they were going thru~just being around them strengthened me and my faith in ways I can't explain.

Do you know what his diagnosis was, AML, ALL etc., I just like to pray specifically when I ask God for a miracle!

IM

Another topic, thanks for that article on Meadow~I do remember you posting that early on after Elijah was born, my worn out brain was just too foggy to remember it until I saw the picture of her with the cake all over her face, such a precious child and that story along with so many others continues to give my faith and hope.

Elijah is doing great, up to 2 lbs 4 oz........actually he looks huge to me in comparison to when he was born.

Thanks again for the continued prayers!
