Y'all have probably heard/read about a poster called FocusFactor, from The Clue Bus (I don't know if she ever posted at SM), whose son, a paramedic in some icy state up north, was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident; he's in very serious condition and his prognosis is uncertain.  Posters from several boards have been lighting candles and praying for him. Lots of posters have put aside their differences in this situation to express support for this grieving mother and this young man who has helped so many others in his career.  I thought some of y'all might want to remember this young paramedic in your prayers, too.

Is the back story of this nameless young man on this site?
http://www.cluebus.com/
or this site?
http://www.thecluebus.com/
-
I went over to RU, because I identify the name "Focus Factor" with that site.  I saw this post:
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 09, 2007 11:36 AM, CST
I just cannot wait until tomorrow to tell the good news!
Derick is "awake". Well, he is out of the coma and breathing on his own.
That isn't exactly awake, but he is not in a coma and not on life support. Thank God.
He does not recognize me yet. He said "That's not my Mom". I should have recorded that so when he asks for money in a few months I can say "Go ask J".
--
I did some clicking around and found out his name is Derick K******.  Prayer sent by me and, I am positive, many others who don't feel the need to announce it.

{{edit - no need to share the name here}}

Thanks, Leslie.  His name is Derick; I don't know his last name.  And you are so right about silent prayers, I do that myself.

I also read this thread and try to keep up with this one and don't always have time to post like Jacquie & Angie. All of you that have asked for prayers for either yourself or for others, have been in my thoughts and prayers.

CBB, I am truly sorry about your accident. You & John are in my prayers.

Sunny, I'm glad that you're feeling at least a little better; I know you've had a time since that fall.  Thanks Darleen....I am feeling better....the latter part of 2006 was not good for me....but I am sure 2007 is gonna be a whole ot better!!

I did 'hear' about it.....I don't know the psoter but I have included this young man in my prayers...he is part of an elite group who risk their lives daily to save others.. and deserves all the prayers he can get..

Sunny, I am glad  that you are feeling better.  It sounds miserable, but I'd say you are lucky your injuries were not much worse if you took a fall off a tall ladder.

My hubby spent 2 weeks in a trauma center following an auto accident, and we got to know the other patients pretty well.  The most serious injuries were from ladder falls, even more so than most of the auto accidents, including one quadraplegic.  It certainly has made me leary of ladders.

Thanks BoBo...I know I was indeed lucky..and more than a few medical peole have told me the same thing..it could have been so much worse...and I even look at my kitchen step ladder as an enemy now!   Wink

Hi guys. I wanted to see if there might be any word from ArtColley. She's in my thoughts and prayers.

Update on John: The "knob" on the upper end of the bone going into the knee was broken off and pushed into the bone. The surgeon was unable to salvage it as he had hoped, so he replaced with a plate and screws. We'll just have to wait and see if/how much that will restrict motion range. There will be "arthritis like" pain there and again, we'll have to wait and see to what degree. Right now he has a catheter inserted in the groin with anesthsia being delivered constantly to block pain from the area going to the brain, and he's comfortable. That comes out tonight, because they want to see how tolerable the pain will be before sending him home. He will be strictly prohibited from ANY weight bearing on that leg for a minimum of 3 months. That includes driving.

Oh my ....we will all pray for the best best outcome for John
The 75 year old driver of the car that pulled out in front of me is sore, but is doing well. Thank God.

I'm really stiff, right foot remains too swollen for a shoe, and could play connect the dots with bruises and make anything you want; in general, I  will be just fine. I do have a bit of a worry that may turn out to be nothing other than degenerative arthritis, but the "axis" that enables head movement has been comprimised..........it's what you WANT to break when hanging someone from the gallows. There seems to be some concern among the radiologists reading my cat scan and they want to repeat it tomorrow after the swelling has had a chance to subside a little more. In the meantime, I swore to wear the coller even while sleeping, not to raise my arms, and to lift nothing. Since I don't really feel like moving furniture right now, no problem.

I had to have 2 MRI's for my fractures to be properly diagnosed....and yes please do everything the doctors tell you to do and none of what they tell you you can;t do....I had to sleep or try to in my back brace....but I finally managed it...
I had a total hysterectomy 15 years ago, including ovaries, thus it's probably just lack of estrogen, but one side of the space around that axis is collapsed/fused. Worse case scenario is that it was crushed by the "whip". Either way, it's a good thing I know it, and carnival rides are a thing of the past. I can live with that.  Wink

Thanks for the concern, and prayers. Please continue to remember John..he's got a hard road in front of him, and I'm trying very hard to be OK enough to help take care of him when he's released.

I may not post, but will check back for updates on Art, and all the concerns brought here. I love you guys. Count on me to keep all of them in my prayers!

thanks to none for letting my monkey friends know that my dad made it thru his back surgery!!! it was a ruptured disc and bone spurs pressing against a nerve that was causing the excruciating pain. that pain is gone...praise the lord! he is having the normal aches and pains that are going to come with any surgery, but god willing, that will not last long! I am so gald to read that all went well....and I am convinced back pain is one of the worse anyone will ever endure....thanks everybody for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers...it is much appreciated.

CBB-

So glad to see your spririt shining thru this event, please take care of  you and do just as the doctors tell you to, we need you well ok? {{HUGS}}

We'll continue prayers for John and hope he can accept such a long recuperation, at times that is the hardest part?

Elaine? How is  your mother this week? I am keeping you and she in our prayers.

Darleen, I think many of us will certainly pray for any injured paramedic to recover, godspeed.
Hi None! My Mom was moved this week from the hospital to a rehab, where she will be for 1 week, then back home. She is improving each day, thanks so much! Did your mother just have surgery also? How is she doing as well?

Elaine that is good news indeed!!

I am sorry I haven't been here in so long. Life has a way of kicking in and you find yourself focusing on a few certain things that need your immediate attention. You are all always in my thoughts and please know that you all are in my daily prayers...Prayers for your health, well-being, prayers that your grief may be comforted, that you and your loved ones recover from their illnesses and surgeries, prayers for those innocent people who have lost their lives senselessly and their families who are grieving...Prayers for Natalee and her family and friends...prayers that a resolution will come for her and her loved ones and that the truth comes out about who is responsible for all of this turmoil that an entire island and the United States has had to go through on their behalf.

Thank you for all being such a wonderful and caring group. My love knows no bounds for you. I can relate to so many of you and count you as my friends, for I care about you and know that you care about me. And for that, I am grateful to God for bringing me here with you.

mishy That was a beautiful post.  You said everything we all try to say.  Like a lot of monkeys I read here when I can and send a silent prayer to the All Knowing One for help, healing and comfort for my monkey friends and their families or anyone else that may be mentioned.   It always includes those whose give their time and often their lives to help others, especially those in emergency situations or war zones.  I am sure God knows who I mean and I leave it to Him and His angels to do what is His Will.
God is Love.

Mishy, you expressed exactly what I feel ... I always say my prayers when I drive to work... and I always ask God to watch over the Monkeys... and heal their wounds and help them with their needs, health and otherwise.  You just said that so well...

Please keep my friend Danette in your prayers. She will need all of our prayers to deal with the long ,dark days ahead of her.  Also, please keep all of the kids in our community who are sad, frightened , angry and confused over the senseless killing of their friend Kaitlin in your prayers. And please pray for justice for Kaitlin.

We will  Cubbee and will include you and your family in our prayers, you have suffered along with Kaitlin's mother and family. Thank you for being there for her, for caring as you do, and for your kindness and support for her.

Justice for Kaitlin, we all need to pray for this, that alone would so help her mother Danette at least to carry on.
