A member of my family has Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/ttp/
She had kidney failure and has been on dialysis. The blood supply to her fingers was cut off and she had all her fingers amputated from the knuckles down. They sewed her hands into her stomach-groin area for what is left of her hands to heal.

Please...prayers needed-and does anyone know about this procedure?

My Mom is leaving the hospital tomorrow in the care of hospice.  She has small cell lung cancer and they have found it in her brain for a second time.  They say that they will have to stop all treatment.  We need your prayers, please.

I have a unique request...

I have a couple that I attend church with who are desperately in need of prayer.  A few years ago, after having raised 3 children, they decided to open their home to foster kids.  They went on to adopt 6 little boys.  The last two are now 11 and 9.  They were told that there was physical abuse and neglect.  About a year ago, they started having serious issues arise with both boys.  After seeing multiple doctors and counselors the boys were diagnosed with RAD.  This family flew to Colorado in October of last year to participate in an intense clinic that is supposed to be one of the best in the country.  During that time the boys admitted to some horrible treatment at the hands of bio-parents, bio-grandparents, and sadly, two local foster homes.  A few weeks after coming home, one of their young granddaughters told her mom that the 11 yr old had molested her.  The clinic and therapy that the 9 yr old is receiving has made a marked change in his life.  The 11 yr old on the other hand has gotten much worse.  They've had to install locks and alarms on his bedroom doors and windows.  They were against this until on two separate occasions two of the older boys awoke in the night to this child standing over them with a knife.  It really has this sweet couple scared out of their minds.  Two weeks ago they took the child for testing to check on his neurological development.  The results were not good.  This child has areas of his frontal lobe that have minimal activity.  The specialists told the parents that he's seen cases like this in people who are severely abused and psychopathic.  The doc suggested a series of shock treatments to try to kick-start the frontal lobe and hopefully 'heal' some of the brain trauma.  There were arrangements made for the child to stay this week in a clinical environment to receive intense therapy.  He comes home on Friday afternoon.  There will be 6 weeks of shock treatments and daily therapy sessions to hopefully teach this child how to 'feel' empathy.  Specialist said this was a last-ditch effort.  If they do not see a change in his brain activity and behavior the doc suggested that he be institutionalized for the rest of his life as he is a danger to society.  I can't tell you how heart-broken this couple is.  They've tried everything they know, they've sought help from anywhere they can find it, and they've spent most of their retirement savings to try to help this child.  They see this situation as only resolving through a miracle.  And so, I ask my fellow monkeys to please pray for this child who has been so severely abused and has so much damaged to his brain and his emotions.  Pray that God will perform a miracle with this little boy's brain so that he will learn to empathize with others and can one day be a loving son and brother.  I never want to see this little boy's name on one of the crime threads.  Thank you.

KittyMom Prayers for your friends and their little boy.  May they find the help they need for this little one and for all the ones that have had their lives touched bye this.  an angelic monkey  May the Lord guide them to the right people to help.

It is Well with My Soul

The hymn "It is Well with My Soul" becomes closest to heart for one undergoing grief. Written by a Presbyterian laywer Horatio G. Spafford (1828-1888) and composed by Philip P. Bliss (1838-1876), this deeply touching gospel song has long been loved.

The scripture reference is Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

Spafford was born on October 20, 1828 in North Troy, New York. He was a successful lawyer in Chicago who maintained a keen interest in Christian activities, deeply spiritual and devoted to the scriptures.

Sometime in 1871, a fire in Chicago heavily devastated the city, and months before that , Spafford had invested hugely in real estate by the shore of Lake Michigan. The disaster greatly wiped out his holdings. Before the fire, Spafford also experienced the loss of his son.

Two years after the fire, Horatio Spafford planned a trip to Europe for him and his family. He wanted a rest for his wife and four daughters, and also to assist Moody and Sankey in one of their evangelistic campaigns in Great Britain. He was not meant to travel with his family. The day in November they were due to depart, Spafford had a last minute business transaction and had to stay behind in Chicago. Nevertheless, he still sent his wife and four daughters to travel as scheduled on the S.S. Ville du Havre, expecting to follow in a few days. On November 22, the ship laden with his wife and daughters was struck by the Lockhearn, an English vessel, and sank in few minutes.

After the survivors were finally landed somewhere at Cardiff, Wales, Spafford's wife cabled her husband with two simple words, "Saved alone." Shortly after, Spafford left by ship on his way where his beloved four daughters had drowned, and pen at hand, wrote this most poignant text so significantly descriptive of his own personal grief – "When sorrows like sea billows roll..." The hymn "It is Well with My Soul" was born.

I know that I have never met a single person on here...but I feel comfortable in posting my troubles.  There are so many good-hearted people here that I know will send prayers up for me.  My Mom is dying.  She is in the pre-active dying phase.  I am here spending time with her.  It is so difficult to see her like this.  She is so child-like which is such a hard thing to watch.  I miss her already and she isn't even gone.  I think that I cannot make it through and when she passes I just don't know if I can handle that.  I'm wondering if anyone else here has watched their mother die of cancer...lung cancer to be exact?  Maybe someone can provide me with some comfort.  I am just not feeling it right now.
