Good Evening Monkeys!

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the sweet post and thoughts and prayers for my son and I. He came home the first of the week and is doing as well as can be expected, considering all he went through. He has a long road to recovery, but By the Grace of God, he is still with us. I am doing ok, got my stitches out today and the incision feels a lot better. Having some serious tummy issues from all the antibiotics I have been on for the last 2 months, but it seems to be doing a little better. Please keep Brandon and I in your prayers. We cherish and appreciate every one of them.

Hoping everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. Our's was a glorious celebration with so very much to be thankful for.

Prayers going out for all the Monkeys in need. God Bless! an angelic monkey

My hubby and I met with an orthopedic surgeon today that put us off on Saturday.  He was blown away by the xrays.  Said hubby's injury was more than he could handle and set us up with a specialist for elbows.  He called him an 'Elbow Guru'.  We talked with this doc later this evening.  He said that hubby has 4 breaks in his elbow, displacement of the joint, a break in the cartilage, and one of the worst injuries he'd seen.  Hubby has surgery scheduled for Friday with the goal of getting his elbow stabilized.  Doctors said that he can expect to get back most of his mobility but not all and that he could look forward to post-traumatic arthritis.  I wish we'd been able to get this seen about over the weekend.  Frustrating!

 I'm really sorry to hear your hubby has such extensive damage to his elbow. KittyMom.    It sounds like he'll has a long recovery ahead once he gets his elbow stabilized, but the plus side is he's going to the 'Elbow Guru', which should give him the best possible outcome.  I don't know how your husband is getting rest with an elbow injury.  It must be hard for him.  I've been thinking of your young son too and I hope you and your husband are able to help him understand he shouldn't feel guilt over the injury.  That's a lot of burden for a nine year old boy to carry.  Please keep us updated KittyMom.  Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

kittmom, I had the pleasure of going to a "shoulder guru" after local doctors claimed I was going to have to live with not raising my arm above my waist.  I am 95% ok and can raise my arm and hand above my head.  Will be praying your guru will help your hubby too!

I find myself looking up in the rafters  still expecting to see 2NJ, but of course,   she's not signed in.  It's going to take a long, long time for it to sink in for me that she won't be posting with us anymore.

<Respectfully snipped by Tamikosmom>

Psalm 118:24
This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it
.

WE HAVE THIS MOMENT

Tender words, gentle touch and a good cup of coffee
And someone who loves me and wants me to stay
Hold them dear while they’re near don’t wait for tomorrow
To look back and wish for today.

We have this moment to hold in our hands
And to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand
Yesterday's gone and tomorrow may never come
But we have this moment, today.

Thank you all for the prayers for hubby and son. It has been so amazing to see how God works through the heartfelt prayers of others.

My son is doing better.  I took him asap to counseling to help him work through his guilt.  He has what was described to me as an 'overactive conscience' so even small things tend to bother him.  But, he's better now and joking that his daddy broke his funny bone.  Silly boy!

Hubby's 3 hour surgery turned into 7.  Then his 30 minutes in recovery turned into an hour and a half.  It was a tense day for me waiting and checking and hearing that the doc was still working on him.  When the surgeon came to talk with me I really felt sorry for him.  He looked worn out.  He told me that hubby's injury was extensive and his arm really frail.  He said that he had put it back together and it "fell apart" so he had to go back in and reconstruct it again with more hardware.  Now we've been to therapy twice but mainly so that they can change the dressings and mold a brace for him.  He has limited movement until we see the doc next week.

Men do not make good patients.  Hubby gets very frustrated that he can't do for himself.  Even going to the restroom requires my help.  Hubby has a lot of pride.  I really feel sorry for him.  But, these things happen for a reason.  I truly believe that God allows certain situations so that we can grow in spirit as we heal physically.

Here is a photo of hub's arm 5 days post surgery.  WARNING...if you have a weak constitution you might want to avoid this photo and walking around in the dark!  lol

KittyMom, you're so right.  God is good, all the time.

I'm praying for strength and healing for you and yours.  My DH had extensive hand surgery (pins etc) years ago after a break was allowed to heal improperly for many weeks in a cast.  It was a long recovery and even though his hand was never the same, it's much better than it was before the surgery.  Proud men are especially the worst patients, lol.  I always told him "I know if it were me, you'd do it for me!" to try to make him feel better.

I'm glad you did what was needed for your son too, you're a good mom.

Kittymom, you are so right, men do not make good patients!  I'm really sorry your hubby is going through such a long, painful process, but I hope for the best possible outcome.  You have a lot on your plate not only helping your hubby with all the things that he needs help with to get through the days and nights, but keeping his and your son's morale up.  You strike me as a very strong woman and I pray your strength and resolve will continue to carry you through this difficult time.   an angelic monkey

THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

Isaiah 9:6
For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

++++++++

OH HOLY NIGHT

O' Holy night, the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth
Long lay the world
In sin and error pining
'Til He appeared and the soul felt His worth

The thrill of hope,
The weary world rejoices
For yonder brings a new and glorious morn

Fall on your knees
Oh, hear the angel's voices
O' night divine
O' night when Christ was born
O' night divine
O' night,
O' night divine

O' Holy night, the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth
Oh...
Long lay the world
In sin and error pining
'Til He appeared and the soul felt His worth

The thrill of hope,
The weary world rejoices
For yonder brings a new and glorious morn

Fall on your knees
Oh, hear the angel's voices
O' night divine
O' night when Christ was born
O' night divine
O' night,
O' night divine
