I have seen recently an awful lot of complaining when it comes to talking about SM. Granted, I realize that some are just trying to cause problems as so many have done in the past. Always remember that the big picture of SM (Front page blog, forum, Missing Persons site & SM radio) has always been to help families, provide information in a community setting. Please remember that when the thought of complaining about a minor issue arises. We want people to participate and add things of interest, not just create issues and cause problems.

However, I would like people to focus on the positive not the negative. Please tell me what you like or appreciate about SM.

What would you like to see in the future that interests you? Thanks ...

What I like about SM is that it continues to focus on the serious issue of missing persons and their families.  That SM continues to be in the forefront of blogs that allow the victims and their families to have a voice.   That we have so many talented members with great researching abilities.

I'm very thankful for Dugga and all the work Red and Dugga have done to improve SM.  I realize there will be some transitional issues and changes that need getting used to.  Time will resolve those.

Kudos to Red and Dugga!

I have 2 Internet "homes" where I spend 85-90% of my time on the Internet, which amounts to at least 70% of my free time.  They are my email account and SM.  Calling your site a home is the best compliment I can give you.  I feel comfortable here.  I am grateful for your hospitality!

I have appreciated immensely being able to find info updates about Natalee and other missing persons here.  I have appreciated that there are so many intelligent and credible people here--in charge and members.

Thank you  Smile

What Klaas has posted about sums up my feelings also.  I do go to the Front Page first, to see what's up.  And then onto the forum, say "hi" to the Monks and check the threads.  I am always hopeful for a bit of news or new development in Natalee's case.  It was Natalee that first brought me to SM, and through that I have been made aware of other missing and exploited and find that they too must be found and if they were harmed, to be bring to justice  those responsible.  We have threads on News of the Day, Decorating, Music , Australia (love it, Tib), and many areas of interest.  I like them all.  Klaas, who is able to leap tall buildings at a single bound is a great Admin, and the Mods CBB, San and ******* are helpful.  Dugga has been patient with me when I send him emails trying to figure out why something does or doesn't happen and has an interesting sense of humor, adding a new dimension to the monkey family.  And of course, there are the Reds, Mr. and Mrs.  Smile    Bless 'em both for all they do.  We know Mrs. Red is more than just a pretty face that like shoes.  She must be doing things behind the scenes and I have an inkling she gives up a lot of her time with Mr. Red for us at SM.  Last but not least there is Red aka The Shadow.  I like what you have created Red, and I can't thank you enough for your tireless efforts.  The transition to the new forum hasn't been a problem for me.  I am still here. Smile Don't really have any complaints, except about the complainers.  LOL  Ps:  Did I forget to mention Dana and SM radio?    :  That's great stuff.  And I got to know about Texas Equuasearch and Tim Miller through SM. And that's a good thing. thumright

A large amount of my time also is spent right here at SM and in case some of you don't see it or realize it  SM is a LARGE project !  it cannot be done in as professional manner as it has been by just a few members .
We have grown to a Large Internet presence and a lot of people know the name and most when aware have so many questions that I could spend a week trying to explain it all to some of them .
About cost's when you go on the Internet and form an interactive web site it cost's  you a lot both in real cash and in getting people to help with things like Moderating ( Thanks Klaas ) and engineering that in itself is a whole nother can of worms .
So for the inconvenience of some pop ups which can be dealt with and the advertising that surely helps with the bills I can see little to gripe about  just as RED has said , any Takers  ? NOPE not a lot were there ?.
Scared Monkeys is an organization that I for one am proud to be called a member of and when we help do a search IE: The Jessica Davis murder which I had a personal part in  of the one down by Columbus that Dihannah and a few other SM's had a part in  really drives home tha point that we
ARE A PART OF SOMETHING BIG !  and that we as ordinary citizens can and do play a significant part in and are respected for doing so .
So to my ending statement please do not allow a few dissenters that cannot see what we are doing here as valuable enough to endure a few problems  which are even now as we speak being worked upon  ( Thanks Dugga )  this will be for the for the greater GOOD  of an awful lot of folks that have loved ones missing and or  harmed  to get at least the closure that there are still good people out there that do care enough to put themselves out a little for .
Thanks for everyone's time in reading my opinion .

Hi Monkeys!
I have been reading here since about summer 2005.I would usually just stick with the front pages about Natalee.I would always copy SM's front page to the aol message boards, spread around some Monkey knowledge.
Smile
I only wish I had started reading and posting in the SM forum way back when....you all don't know how much I appreciate ALL that you are doing here.
Thank you Scared Monkeys!
ps.....when I first started reading the front page I thought your name was Sacred Monkeys and that name has always fit what you all do here IMO.

I found Scared Monkeys trying to find some worthwhile information on NAH and stayed because it was a friendly, intelligent group as opposed to most of what was available.  I read for a long time before joining and I feel like I know so many of you.  You all are a very caring bunch of monkeys.  If there is news out there, it will most probably be here first.  It was nice when you found Dana and got him onboard.  There needs to be more focus on victims rights and he does it well.  I knew about TES, but thank you for making a personal association with them.  I have joined TES so they know I am available if they are ever needed in my area.

The popups make this blog look cheap and cheesy.  I know there are bills to pay and I understand the reason for them but they are put it on par with low level porn sites.
These PU have totally turned me off, I donate to everything and I'd be more than happy to donate to SM if I could be assured these nasty annoyances would stop - at least with my account.
Popups are the modern day high tech version of the Telephone solictors or worse - SPAM.
Tell me how much you need in real dollars to make this nightmare go away.  Imagine an FBI agent, a family member, a legal expert coming here looking for information and having to click thru popup hell.  There's a certain loss of credibility with this cheesyness.
I love this blog, been a loyal follower for over 2 years.  The popups suck.  At least give us an alternative.

And what part about making this thread positive didn't quite everyone get?

Keep it up and people will be gone. I asked a simple question. What do you appreciate about this site. Any more comments about ads will be deleted.

Stunning that people cannot remain posting positive comments.

Even though I was a ******* for the first year of Natalee being missing this has always felt like home to me. Some of the most friendly, intelligent and honest people come here and I enjoy there research, opinions and there fight to make it right.. No hidden agendas,No trolls and just a honest place to search for the truth.Dana on SM Radio is a great person who does his homework and offers something very unique for the internet as opposed to MSM and a Chat Room. The more I know Red and Mrs.Red the more I realize why I call SM home. I think the world of Klaas and I hope she knows what a special lady she is..

Scared Monkey's has the opportunity to be the premier missing persons site on the internet and I am happy to see SM adapt and prepare for the future. The Pop Ups and Ads dont bother me because I am looking at the bigger picture and I appreciate the work behind the scenes. Dugga looks like a cool person and a nice fit for SM. I look forward to seeing more of his work. Victims and Injustice deserve a voice and Natalee Holloway is a perfect example of what brought us all together. There are others who deserve that same support and I know together we can make that difference. Great place to share a laugh, talk to people from all over as well as discuss important issues like Football....Go Vikings!!  viking  Very Happy

I was fortunate to find SM while searching for info on Natalee -- before there was even a forum.

And although I did not post, I did the 'paypal' thing because I thought it was the right thing to do. I had never been on a forum before, and felt privileged to be a part of this one. I still do.

I appreciate SM because they have kept Natalee's case alive.

I appreciate SM because klass is (hands down) the best admin on the net.

I appreciate SM because here -- unlike others blogs -- it is about Natalee.

I appreciate SM because -- unlike other blogs --  our precious hosts protect Natalee (and us posters) from being attacked, maligned and lied about by TROLLS. The trolls may still do it -- but not on THIS SITE. They've tried. They've failed (thank you SM)

I appreciate SM because the owners, the management and the posters -- will fight for justice for this innocent American teen until justice is served -- or until we are no longer of this earth. And I fully expect to have access to SM blog in heaven if Natalee still needs us to.

Thank you Red, Tom (in case he still reads), klaas and Mrs. Welcome Dugga -- and congratulations to all the new mods.

This place, SM, that I've called home for over 2 yrs, is unlike any other forum I've EVER visited.  I have met so many special people and made many friends here.  What makes this new format more special, is it is more personal, the format has been personalized just for SM.  There is no other forum, I've ever seen that isn't just a generic format.  I don't know of any that has it's own radio, many topics of discussions to join and remained loyal to the very causes it originated for.  Natalee and other missing people.   We don't have to worry about trolls, we are protected here, no family bashings.

I may never had known of TES so closely without SM, and may never have had taken the opportunity to meet Tim and join in a search, providing me an experience I'll never forget.

We have a prayer thread where we know people really care and many prayers have been answered.  But most important, just knowing that people really do care.  I've came here on days, I was feeling down myself and lifted up by people's sense of humor, or just somebody willing to listen.

I've seen people come and people go, over petty things before and just realize, we are a very diverse group with many personalities and many different talents.  There will always be some disagreements, but that is life.  If we can't deal with it here, how do we deal with it in real life?  You learn to agree to disagree!

My biggest theory in life?  You can't make everybody happy all of the time, so you do the best you can and hope people just appreciate your efforts.  Which I do very much appreciate SM and the special people who make it home.

The bottom line is, I very much appreciate what the Red's have done inside and outside of this forum.  Provided us rare opportunities to hear from people of missing people and other important people on SM Radio from a more personal perspective. We even get to call in and ask questions if we chose.

I also appreciate Dugga's hard work putting this all together and Klaas and San for all there hard work everyday.

So, if the worse thing I experience are a few pop-ups when I sign in?  Then so be it, It's a very small price to pay for what is offered here and what we have to take advantage of.  My only disappointment are those who seem to be making such a big deal out of it.

God Bless Red, Mrs. Red, Klaas, San and Dugga for all your hard work!
And also to all you wonderful Monkeys I've met here.

So, unless somebody can come up with something better than we have here,  I will always be here.

Red,
I have an opinion and I stand by it.  If you want to censor that opinion, go ahead, you own the site.   I didn’t mean to offend, just offering some constructive criticism to a site I love.
I asked what I could do to help financially and the response was a threat of banishment. Never meant it to go in that direction.
I wish you nothing but success with your site and stand tall by you hoping for justice for Natalee.

I'm going to put in my 2 cents, for whatever it's worth.  Obviously, some long time loyal long time monkeys have opinons/concerns about certain things on the new forum.  I don't believe anybody doesn't like or appreciate the new forum, just some features and new atmosphere that may bother some.

Unfortunately, I've notice alot of old monkey friends have not been around much.  These same monkeys who have been around, remaining loyal and supportive of SM for at least two years.  Yes, posters can all be replaced, but I believe loyalty should mean something.  I can't speak for everybody, I know I have personally donated in the past via paypal.  I'm sure not everybody will do that, or may not be able to.

As you can see, from my above post, my feelings of appreciation here.  So I guess, I'm trying to be a mediator?  Wrong or right, I am concerned about everybody's concerns, from both sides.

From an SM perspective, I can truly appreciate and understand the resources necessary to run a site like this and all it offers AND trying to keep everybody happy!

From posters perspective, I see they feel, as long time, loyal, supportive posters, they would like to be heard without feeling they are no longer a concern, but have some input, with some constructive (non-defensive), understanding feedback.  I saw a mass exodus a couple yrs. ago and don't want to see that again.  I love all who post here and feel they just need somebody to listen, but they also to speak in a meaningful, constructive way.  No attacks, no need to be on the defense.

I see so much tension and people on the defense.  It bothers me, feeling like I'm stuck in the middle, because I see both sides.

Here is an idea, it can be tossed as silly and meaningless,  or it can be considered for everybody's benifit,  I hope!

SM, needs financial resources to run such a great site.  I agree, subscriptions will not work for everybody.
Monkeys need to have there concerns taken seriously, but be constructive, not offensive. Maybe everybody can come up with a happy medium.

So what are the options?  What other means for advertisement are there.  I know one longtime, loyal, monkey, who had surgery,  has stated for medical purposes, the ads hurt there eyes.  Knowing this monkey and there medical condition, I completely understand.

So, Monkeys, please be constructive with your comments/concerns and SM needs to not be so defensive and consider those resources as meaningful ideas, without getting defensive or on the attack.

I'm only here, because I miss the cage, as it used to be.  And I mean All of us talking constructively, in a fun-loving manner, not the forum format.

We aren't going back, which is ok with me, as I like the new forum, but the older monkeys were the backbone of this forum and we need them to make it whole again, one way or another.

Can we make a suggestion thread, for those to make CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions.  Ignoring those who are negative, but responding to those who offer legitimate suggestions, in a positive manner?

I don't think it's the forum updates, as much as the new atomosphere here, that has run everybody off.  MONKEYS and ADMINS. we can work together.  We have so many smart resourseful people here.  Let's put our heads together and make it work for all!

Ok, I'm off my rant.  I'm not trying to offend anybody, only find a happy medium for all!

With Love......
