A 6-year-old Texas girl was found hanged in her garage Monday and police were investigating the case as a homicide, MyFOXDFW.com reports.

Hannah Mack was discovered Monday by her mother, Dana, hanging in the garage with a rope around her neck in Navarro Mills Lake, about 65 miles south of Dallas, and there were signs that she had been sexually abused, the station reported.

"I just touched her arm and I wanted to get her down so bad," Dana Mack told MyFOXDFW.com.

Police confirmed Wednesday the child was found hanged and sexually assaulted before she died.

Authorities have made no arrests or named any suspects since Hannah Mack's body was discovered. They are saying little about their investigation.

"I will confirm that the hanging and sexual assault were part of this scenario," Navarro County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Mike Cox said.

Cox said several people have been interviewed and no one has been ruled out as a suspect.

"We don't want to do anything that would compromise a successful prosecution of this case," Cox said Wednesday before abruptly ending a brief news conference.

Neighbors in the rural lakeside community in east Texas are frustrated by the silence so far and worry that a predator remains on the loose.

In a letter to the sheriff's department, Navarro County Judge Vicki Gray said an autopsy of the body showed "a multitude of events that together caused the death of this child." No other details were released.

The first-grader's body was found in a garage behind her home early Monday.

"I'm just concerned about the kids out there," said Harold Hocutt, 75, a neighbor who knows the girl's family. "Little girls. Little boys. It's just something you don't forget. Every time I drive by [Hannah's house], I cry."

"I wish I could punish this person myself," Dana Mack told MyFOXDFW.com.

I don't know if I can stand to hear the details of this one. This child suffered horribly, and it sounds like it was maybe someone in her family.

I swear to God people that are pedophiles ,at the VERY least,need to be locked away FOREVER and never see the light of day. When will the law ever learn, these type of animals should never be allowed out. They cannot be reformed . Their crimes only escalate.

I for one believe anyone whom rapes or molests a child should get the death sentence. To me the molesting or raping of a child is in effect the "Death" of that child and quite possibly a making of a future monster. If they had given Joseph  Duncan life without a possibility for parole, then Shasta's mother and brothers would still be alive and she would not have to live the rest of her life in fear and in all likelihood with severe mental problems.

My Grandfather was a pedophile, while he never touched me, he molested my older sister countless times, sometimes in front of me for years. He was never punished and my parents whom were horribly abusive to us, just brushed it off. To this day 36 years later my sister is mentally unstable. She has tried to commit suicide twice and will not seek help as she doesn't trust anyone.  I mean how can she? The first people she ever loved ,her parents and her Grandfather abused her.

Is it any wonder people at times decide to take the law into their own hands? No I am not for vigilante "Justice", but I can understand the kind of rage that would drive a person to do such a rash thing.

That seems to be one of those details that is common with missing and murdered little girls. Ever notice that? A lot of them were sleeping on a couch instead of their own bed.

Why was this child not asleep in a bed, especially on a school night?

(CBS 11 News) NAVARRO COUNTY The Navarro County Sheriff’s Department arrested Kevin Anders for possession of child pornography.

Anders is the live-in boyfriend of Dana Mack.

Dana's youngest daughter, Hannah, was found dead in the family's garage Monday. Wednesday, police confirmed the girl was sexually assaulted before she was hanged.

Police originally listed Anders as a person of interest in the death of the 6-year-old girl.

Anders had been questioned by police early Wednesday, but was not arrested until sometime around 9 p.m.

I'm too emotional today to deal with this baby girl and what happened.  And I have the option not to do so.  Can't say the same for her mother and other family members.  They have no choice.  But women do have the choice to protect their young children from predatory males being brought right into their homes.

Sorry if I offend anyone but this is what I think and feel about this, it's asking for trouble.  And no one deserves what this woman had happen to her just from trusting somebody but we see it over and over.  Don't trust your children around males you can not be 100% sure of.

Sorry world we live in.  Maybe little girls should never be alone with any male except a blood relative and not sure even they could be trusted in some instances.

And we need stronger sentencing for these crimes for sure.  And fewer live in lovers!  If he doesn't respect you enough to marry you, don't be his unpaid you-know-what around your kids.  You owe it to the kids to get them reared first and then you can think about yourself.

JMO and I know many do not agree with this line of thinking but I do ask you to think about all the cases we see and who and what is involved.

Pdh,  My first thought when I read your comment was, This little girl was scared of someone coming into her room, or bad things have happened there and given her nightmares or something, so she slept on the couch.  Then I scroll down and see the live in bf was arrested.  All too common a scenario.

Anna - I could not agree with you more. I'm a single Mom, and I have never even brought a date to my home. I will not even talk about my kids in detail. Until the day I meet someone who could be a potential mate for the rest of my life....my children will never be involved in my dating life. And even then, it will be a slow process with no shacking up. My children will be grown before it ever happens, anyway. Some men are only interested in the opportunity to molest children, and it has happened to several friends of mine. They target lonely single Moms for that specific purpose.

It's almost always the boyfriend, or the step-father, so this doesn't surprise me at all that it happened in this case. I kind of suspected as much when I heard she was asleep on a couch instead of her own bed.

JDC - I was also bothered by the fact that this sweet little girl was sleeping on a couch on a school night, instead of being in her own bed. Like I posted earlier....there are several little girls who have gone missing while sleeping on a sofa at night. It's a common link, and for some reason, it seems suspicious.

Unfortunately, some single mothers will do anything to find someone.  It just breaks my heart that people will allow virtual "strangers" into their homes (especially homes with children).  I wonder how long the mother knew him before she allowed him to live with her and her child(ren?).  Whatever the case is here, this disgusting individual will get his in prison.  And that brings me SOME satisfaction.  I really do wonder about the mother though.  Yeah, where did she go after 1am?  Did she stay in the residence?  Did she go to bed?  More info.  I need more info.
