I really wish Stacy Peterson could be found, first and foremost for her and her family, and she could be laid to rest.  After that, I think finding Stacy might provide some forensics and help wipe the smirk off Drew's face.     I'm afraid Drew had enough knowledge and advance planning (and some help!) to dispose of Stacy, so finding her will be next to impossible. But it sure would be great if she could be found.

Authorities searched Hammel Woods again Tuesday, but their reason for searching the forest preserve land near Shorewood remains uncertain.

Special agent Joan Hyde confirmed that the FBI is participating in a search of Hammel Woods with the Illinois State Police. Monique Bond, spokesperson for the Illinois State Police, said so far, nothing has been found and that the investigation is ongoing.

Police agencies again search forest preserve for Stacy Peterson
November 7, 2012 12:24PM
Updated: November 7, 2012 4:41PM

SHOREWOOD — Investigators using dogs searched Hammel Woods again Wednesday.

The FBI and state police have been looking through the 400-acre Will County forest preserve this week. They won’t say publicly what they’re looking for.

A police source told Chicago Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed, however, that investigators are searching for missing mom Stacy Peterson, the wife of convicted murderer and former Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson.

The search was actually a repeat of one done two years ago by state police, said the source, who added that the search was based on an old lead; Authorities had been waiting for the availability of cadaver dogs.

Since Monday, an FBI Mobile Command truck has been parked near the Black Road entrance while groups have searched the woods. Around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday about 10 investigators returned with hiking sticks, small shovels and yellow poles used to prod loose soil.

As one man wearing FBI garb walked a hiking path and looked at an aerial photograph, another wearing a jacket labeled “Evidence Response Team” followed a springer spaniel running through the nearby trees.

Apparent Search For Stacy Peterson Enters Fourth Day
November 8, 2012 9:08 AM

CHICAGO (CBS) — A search for the remains of Drew Peterson’s missing fourth wife resumes today.

This is day four in the latest search for the grave of Stacy Peterson.

The FBI and State Police, aided by a cadaver dog, have been searching Hammel Woods in Shorewood.
 ::snipping2::
It is unclear whether police have developed new information to conduct this search.

The area is near where Stacy Peterson cell phone had been detected.

Will Co. State's Attorney James Glasgow considering going forward in Stacy Peterson case
Wednesday, November 07, 2012

November 7, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow indicated Wednesday night that his office is considering whether to go forward with a case involving the disappearance of Drew Peterson's fourth wife Stacy.
 ::snipping2::
"After we sentence Drew Peterson, or after he is sentenced on the current case, we'll be sitting down and reassessing the case we've put together with regards to Stacy Peterson," he said.

Search of Hammel Woods set to wrap up
November 8, 2012 3:40PM
Updated: November 8, 2012 4:56PM

A four-day search of Hammel Woods in Shorewood by criminal investigators was scheduled to end Thursday.
 ::snipping2::
Investigators used small shovels and yellow poles to prod loose soil while walking through wooded areas with trained springer spaniels.

Springer spaniels are regularly used as “cadaver dogs” and it is not unheard of for the animals to find remains that have been exposed to the elements for more than a decade.

Investigators end 5-day search for Stacy Peterson's body
4:02 p.m. CST, November 9, 2012

Investigators from the Illinois State Police and FBI today ended a five-day search for Stacy Peterson in a Shorewood forest preserve without finding the missing Bolingbrook woman’s body, officials said.

The roughly 400-acre Hammel Woods Forest Preserve has been searched before, but a “couple dozen” investigators returned to the forest this week because specialized FBI resources such as search dogs became available, said Illinois State Police spokeswoman Monique Bond.

No new tips prompted the search, which was also conducted as a training exercise for investigators, Bond said. Authorities have said some of the last calls on Stacy’s cell phone were routed through cell phone towers in Shorewood.
 ::snipping2::
They have alleged Drew Peterson made the Shorewood calls from his wife’s cell phone in an effort to frame a man with whom Stacy Peterson had traded sexual text messages.

Drew Peterson facing sentencing Thursday if new trial bid fails
7:58 p.m. CST, February 20, 2013

 ::snipping2::
Among the oddities Wednesday, during the unusual hearing on post-trial motions that has stretched across two days, was former Peterson lead attorney Joel Brodsky chatting in a courthouse hallway with Stacy's sister Cassandra Cales.

Both declined to detail their conversation. “We were just discussing how to make sure that her sister Stacy isn't forgotten after Drew goes away,” Brodsky said.

Much of Wednesday's hearing focused on Brodsky's trial decision to call Wheaton divorce attorney Harry Smith, who represented Savio in her bitter divorce fight with Peterson and also fielded a call from Stacy about her divorce options shortly before she vanished.

Smith testified at trial that Stacy had asked him if the fact that Peterson killed his third wife could be used as leverage in a divorce.

Prosecution Eyes Charging Drew Peterson in Fourth Wife's Disappearance
Feb. 22, 2013

A spokesman for the lead state prosecutor in the Drew Peterson case said that the prosecution may be looking at filing charges against the former Illinois police officer for the disappearance of his fourth wife after he was sentenced to 38 years in jail for killing his third wife.

"[Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow] is not precluded necessarily from charging someone with murder if there is no body," Glasgow's spokesman, Charles Pelkie, told ABCNews.com. "These cases have been prosecuted in the past."

Drew Peterson was sentenced on Thursday for the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, whose body was found in a bathtub, her hair soaked in blood in 2004.

But prosecutors also have their eyes on the case of Peterson's fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, who went missing in 2007. Her body has never been found.

"What [Glasgow] intends to do is review that case, as well as another missing person case, the Lisa Stebic case, as well as a number of other missing persons cases, some going back 25 years," Pelkie said.

Will County prosecutor Glasgow still searching for Stacy Peterson
February 25, 2013 7:40PM
Updated: February 25, 2013 8:59PM

The Peterson case . . .

Ka-ching! The case is still alive and the money is in the bank.

◆ Translation: Sneed has learned that Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow has not given up his pursuit of convicted murderer Drew Peterson’s missing fourth wife, Stacy.

Sneed hears Glasgow plans to convene a summit of his legal eagles to revisit Stacy’s case in hopes of charging Peterson with her murder — and is preparing to announce that the $100,000 reward for information leading to Stacy’s whereabouts is still available.

◆ Set shot: “Now that Peterson is serving a 38-year sentence at the Pontiac Correctional Center for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, perhaps someone who has evidence — but was afraid to come forward because they feared Peterson would get off — will now contact us,” Glasgow told Sneed.

◆ Penalty shot: “I have been in touch with Jeff Ruby, the restaurateur from Cincinnati who offered the $100,000 reward before the Peterson trial, and he is willing to keep the reward going until we find Stacy,” he said.

◆ Back shot: Sneed is told the search for Stacy has gone cold. “There has not been a tip leading to her whereabouts for some time,” said an Illinois State Police source.

◆ Long shot: “I’ve ordered a sit-down with six of our attorneys to go over every significant detail in Stacy’s disappearance,” Glasgow said. “We’ve already got significant evidence. We just need to see if we can bolster what we’ve already got.”

Drew Peterson's Lawyer Kicked for Bad Behavior

CHICAGO (CN) - "Deplorable behavior" from the former defense attorney of wife-killer Drew Peterson disqualifies him from representing an unrelated client, a judge ruled.
 ::snipping2::
Judge Edward Burmilla, who presided over the Peterson trial, denied the motion for a new trial, but said he was shocked by some of Brodsky's comments and would report him to the Illinois Bar's disciplinary committee, the Tribune reported.

Brodsky has since been representing Fahred Salem, Mariam Salem and Jrough Al-Daoud in a civil case against Rabi Nesheiwat and George Nesheiwat.

The Cook County judge presiding over that case disqualified Brodsky and the attorney for the Nesheiwats on Wednesday.

Judge Raymond Mitchell said Brodsky and Meschino both engaged in "outbursts in open court," shouting and insulting one another, causing the judge to admonish them, increase the security in the courtroom, and ask a deputy twice to escort Meschino from the courtroom.
 ::snipping2::
"Significantly, after again being advised of this litany of bad conduct in open court today, neither Mr. Brodsky or Mr. Meschino raised an objection to disqualification in this case," the ruling states.

Brodsky has a case pending against his Peterson co-counsel Steve Greenberg, accusing his former co-counsel of "pathological narcissism."

Stacy Peterson’s former pastor to speak at ‘Take Back the Night’ event
September 27, 2013 12:24PM
Updated: September 27, 2013 2:01PM

When the Rev. Neil Schori, former pastor for Westbrook Christian Church in Bolingbrook, approached police and told them a missing woman named Stacy Peterson had confided that she was a victim of domestic abuse, Schori learned that the information was considered “hearsay” evidence.

That irked Schori, now pastor at Naperville Christian Church, especially since he considers domestic abuse a pandemic. In similar circumstances now, he has some victims fill out affidavits and make videos of their allegations, in case something happens to them.

Schori will be the keynote speaker at the Will County Take Back the Night event Thursday in Joliet.

Family Of Stacy Peterson Marks Six Year Anniversary Of Her Disappearance
October 28, 2013 2:50 PM

(CBS) — Six years ago today, Stacy Peterson disappeared from her home in Bolingbrook and her family is marking the anniversary.

It is all very personal and very private. There are no public vigils for the family of Stacy Peterson as they mark six years since she vanished – the fourth wife of Drew Peterson.

“We will always know that he was what happened to her,” said Pamela Bosco, the spokeswoman for Stacy Peterson’s family.

Drew Peterson is in prison for the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio and won’t be eligible for release until he’s in his 90s.

Illinois State Police say there are no new leads in Stacy Peterson’s disappearance.

Appeals court upholds firing of Drew Peterson's son
4:06 p.m. CST, December 13, 2013

Drew Peterson’s son deserved to lose his police badge for his actions after the 2007 disappearance of Peterson’s young wife, a state appellate court has affirmed.

Stephen Peterson, 34, was fired from the Oak Brook Police Department in 2011 after officials ruled that he failed to disclose important information and demonstrated poor judgment during an Illinois State Police investigation into the disappearance of Stacy Peterson, his father's fourth wife.

Former Oak Brook police officer Stephen Peterson leaves the DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton on March 18, 2013.
 In one instance, Stephen Peterson did not tell authorities that his father gave him checks totaling $236,800 shortly after Stacy disappeared or that Drew made his adult son promise to take care of his school-age siblings if anything happened to him.

In an unanimous decision written by Justice Ann Jorgensen and released Thursday, the Illinois Second Appellate District upheld the firing and agreed that Stephen Peterson demonstrated “poor judgment” in the wake of Stacy Peterson’s disappearance.

“No one disputes that Stephen was, at least in some respects, cooperative (with the early investigation),” Jorgensen wrote. “He answered questions when asked, disclosed information about the last-minute will, and testified for the State in the grand jury proceedings. However, no amount of cooperation can overcome the poor judgment Stephen demonstrated in accepting the weapons and money from Drew, in failing to disclose the acceptance of those items until asked, and in continuing to insist that he did nothing wrong.”

Since his father’s arrest nearly five years ago, Stephen Peterson has been raising his younger siblings in Drew and Stacy Peterson's Bolingbrook home. His two oldest half brothers – Kathleen Savio’s sons – are  now in college. The two younger half siblings – Stacy’s children – are still in grade school.

The family's primary source of income is Drew Peterson's $79,000 pension from his nearly 30 years with the Bolingbrook Police Department. Village officials are examining whether to strip him of his retirement benefits following his murder conviction.

A Will County jury last year found Peterson guilty of drowning his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004. He has not been charged in Stacy Peterson's disappearance, though authorities have said he remains the only suspect.

Drew Peterson, 59, was sentenced to 38 years in prison in February and is incarcerated at Menard Correctional Center, a maximum-security facility about 50 miles southeast of St. Louis. He will not be eligible for parole until he is 93.

Man who testified in Peterson case dies in I-55 crash
April 11, 2014

A man who died in a crash Wednesday on Interstate 55 testified against Drew Peterson, the retired police sergeant who was convicted of killing his third wife and remains the only suspect in his fourth wife's disappearance.

Martineck testified before a grand jury investigating Stacy Peterson's disappearance and at a landmark hearsay hearing in the murder case involving Drew Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio.

His testimony in both instances helped corroborate Peterson's stepbrother Thomas Morphey's claim that he helped remove a heavy plastic container from Peterson's house on the night of Stacy's disappearance.

Morphey long has maintained that he and Peterson had met at a coffee shop on the night Stacy disappeared, then went to the couple's Bolingbrook home to move a large blue container into Peterson's car.

When he returned to his Bolingbrook neighborhood, Morphey said, he shared these details with Martineck, who lived a few houses away.

Martineck later told police that Morphey appeared "visibly upset" that night because he thought he might have helped his stepbrother "move Stacy's body."

Martineck's statement thrust him into the media spotlight trained on the Peterson case, leading to camera crews parking in front of his house and his possible motives for coming forward being scrutinized on cable news talk shows.

If Peterson is ever charged in Stacy's disappearance, it's likely Martineck's sworn testimony in the hearsay hearing could be used in court because defense lawyers had a chance to question him, experts added.

"It's a complicated question, but it's possible," Peterson attorney Steve Greenberg said. "There would be a lot of hoops to jump through in order to do it, but I could see ways in which it would be allowed."
