Stacy Peterson’s sister says new charges are impending for Drew Peterson
03/16/2018, 08:23pm

Drew Peterson may be handed new charges soon related to the murder of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, according to Stacy’s sister Cassandra Cales.

In a recent Facebook post, Cales wrote that Illinois State Police and the Will County State’s Attorney “are moving forward to charge Drew, in the near future.”

Cales is speaking out now because she is disappointed with how investigators handled the search for Stacy’s body when she disappeared on Oct. 28, 2007, according to her post, which was first reported by WBBM-Channel 2 News.

She blames investigators for missing an opportunity to recover Stacy’s body from the Sanitary and Shipping Canal.

“Law Enforcement messed up in 2007 and never sent divers down to recover her body,” Cales wrote.

She said there’s proof in a sonar image that Stacy is somewhere in the canal. Cales has spent all her money and taken on debt to retrieve the body herself, she wrote in the post.

Stacy Peterson's sister objects to Marcia Clark's TV investigation of case
April 4, 2018, 1:05 PM

Cassandra Cales, Stacy Peterson’s sister, said she has sonar images of Peterson’s body on the bottom of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal that she would never share with the public. Cales said she is “very upset” because it seems one of these images made it onto an early cut of Thursday’s episode of Marcia Clark’s new true-crime docuseries.

“When the producers reached out to my sonar team to get the rights, they were told no and if the sonar images went public, legal action would be taken,” Cales told the Tribune. “That’s not how I want my sister to be remembered — lifeless body on the bottom of the canal. I want the world to remember her as a beautiful mother, great sister.”

Clark examines the 2007 disappearance of Peterson, the fourth wife of former Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson, as part of her A&E network anthology series “Marcia Clark Investigates The First 48.” A version of Thursday’s episode posted on the network’s press site for weeks featured a sonar image reportedly taken of the canal about three weeks after Stacy Peterson’s disappearance.

Sister of missing mom Stacy Peterson says she found body using sonar, cops searched but found nothing
By Elizabeth Matthews and FOX 32 Digital StaffPublished 7 hours agoUpdated 3 hours ago

JOLIET, Illinois - It's been more than a decade since Bolingbrook mom Stacy Peterson disappeared, but on Tuesday, crews were back out searching again – after Peterson's sister told police she had found a skeleton using advanced sonar.

Stacy's sister Cassandra Cales told FOX 32 Chicago that in May, she used the world's most advanced remote sonar to search the Des Plaines River near the Lockport Powerhouse, which is a power station north of Joliet.

Cales said that she has been searching for years, using more and more advanced sonar equipment, and that in May, she found a skeleton.

"Twenty-two days after my sister went missing, I had live sonar – full flesh female figure –  my sister in the water," Cales said. "The currents, the wakes, the buoyancy – all the stuff I studied. I figured it out with my better equipment and education where she washed up. And I'm not going to stop. If you want it done right, you have to do it yourself."

But on Tuesday, police crews left the river empty handed.

The Illinois State Police said in a statement: "The Illinois State Police with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation searched an area of the I&M canal near Lockport. This area has been searched before in recent months with unsuccessful results. The search today was also unsuccessful. No further information is available at this time."
